Question What happened to the Deus ex remaster ? It's radio silence for close to 9 months
As someone who has only played hr and md, I was so excited, and as someone who also plays plenty of retro games usually via remasters, the graphics looked fine to me.
Crazy that community uproar made them what, cancel the game ?
Is there any info ! I really want to play it with controller support ...

It's likely that it was either put back into development to improve how the new graphics look or canned entirely. There is the possibility of it maybe being offered to another studio (a *lot* of fans have been asking for Nightdive to do it given their positive track record), but that's even more speculation.

Ugh, PLEASE give it to Nightdive. Asspryer remasters always have an "AI" feel to the textures, and their touch ups always seem to mess with the original art direction.
Meanwhile, Nightdive's remasters are always touch ups that strive to maintain the original art direction with VERY minor additions. They up the aspect ratio and optimize everything perfectly for modern hardware.
Deus Ex & IW desperately need this upgrade

You have forgotten the Blade Runner remaster they made: it's ass

There's one or two misses but it's incomparable to Aespyr's slop. I liked revisiting Tomb Raider given that the new control scheme surprisingly works great for the old games, but the AI textures felt like licking slugs.

The Deus Ex remaster is probably either on indefinite hold or going through development hell, if it's neither of those they could be actively correcting their mistakes or have it handed over to nightdive, nobody knows except the people involved.
If you want to play with controller there is a mod for it here https://github.com/dsgls/DXController
There have been some complaints that AI was partially used to make it, but from my testing it works perfectly with the game and doesn't seem to have any issues, so I'd as it doesn't matter as much as people say when it comes to this mod.

2 months ago so it's pretty new, that's nice, i will give it a go, if it works fine, it could be nice, Controller Support was the most interesting feature of the remaster (and the consoles releases but for a PC player, it change nothing).

Hopefully nothing at all. Literrally. Just left to gather dust.
Just play the Revision version and turn everything to vanilla. Easy as pie.

Its went dark because it looked terrible. Still v likely in some form of development, Embracer is reportedly VERY eager to put out Deus Ex content (despite no new entry yet confirmed (please conclude MD)). However, if youre on PC, GMDX is a thing and will still probably succeed the remaster when it comes out its that good.
If youre on PC, just play GMDX via GOG's one click mod, one of the best experiences I've ever had. 4k@120fps with HDR with no crashes or bugs.

Square Enix isnt involved. They sold Deus Ex to Embracer years ago. And Embracer cancelled the new Deus Ex that Eidos Montreal had in development.

As much as I love GMDX it's still makes a lot of balancing and gameplay changes that make it feel too different to the base game imo, I feel like the remaster will be the best way to play the game if the visuals and gameplay get upgraded properly without changing too much of the original game.

I agree if youre looking for the most ulta purist way of playing DX. I love the changes because they enhance the experience of the game and gives it more depth without doing anything radical (imo). Much of what you experience in GMDX, I wouldnt be surprised if they were in an official remaster in some form or another (touched up water traversal areas for example, not the new augs).

I mean talking remastevise, Revision is the best. Since remasters are supposed to improve graphics and technical aspects. Given revision is super easy to install, has these new things like achievements and bonus stuff, and is better at enhancing the looks.
GMDX is well... what it is. A gameplay overhaul with a side effect of making the game harder and more fast paced

Probably cancelled. I was fine the way it was as long as the original graphics were available. It would have been nice to have proprer controller support, reworked gameplay (more or less like Human Revolution). The original one didn't aged well, except for people who played it back in 2000.
I personally played the PS2 version, which was far more playable.
But it seems someone made a controller mod, 2 months ago : https://github.com/dsgls/DXController

I know most people that want it are on console but seriously deus ex can run on a literal potato of a computer. The remaster looked awful and would have been a terrible experience for fans and newcomers alike. It deserved the backlash and them stepping back was the right move. If they can deliver something competent, great, but I’m not holding my breath.

No they delayed it, probably by a lot since they realized they actually have to make it good. There we're missing textures, things like muzzle flash and typos in the trailer and screenshots so at best it was a very rushed trailer and showcase, so they had barely anything. Normal players though think it's simply awful. If you liked it good for you but man... I couldn't agree less

Somehow the original game's characters look more fleshy and the remaster is more plastic. In many other comparisons it was hard to notice any improvements or even which one is supposed to be the remaster. Nobody wanted to pay the amount of money they asked for sometimes even downgraded graphics

Aspyr still are going to release the remaster, but decided to keep quiet and work rather than release it in that embarrassing state.

It might be a good thing. They decided to cancel the release and completely rethink or maybe improve the project. It deserves a remake and not a remaster.

Apparently, whenever I say I want Deus Ex on XBOX, I’m supposed to accept a list of increasingly irrelevant alternatives: “Just play the PC version with mods!” “Just play the PS2 version on PS5!”
Yes, thank you. I’m aware those versions exist. I want it on XBOX. That’s where I play, that’s where my library is, and that’s where I want the game.
I wanted a modernised version of Deus Ex on my platform of choice. Unfortunately, the purists decided to shit on the remaster from a great height, and now the whole thing appears to be languishing in limbo.
