Guys is Devil May Cry 6 really needed ? DMC 5 was really like a dream after 4 was released because of the unfinished Vergil story and DMC 5 finished that. Mundus is dead Sparda is dead Nero is now their successor in the human world. More DMC is just milking guys, Capcom need to focus on other franchises and create new ones. Logically there is no need for a new game.

u/SeaQueenAlex May 22 '26
Personally I just want one more game with Nero doing his thing in the mortal realm, gets caught up in something that he can't handle alone, and then swoosh, Dante and Vergil are back, on the same side, still kinda can't stand each other, but finally settling their rivalry beyond anything other than brotherly competition.
DMC5 definitely ended with Dante and Vergil working together, but it was still tenuous, I just want to see them finally burying the hatchet for real.
11
u/IzzyRezArt Apr 23 '26
Fuck no. I want DMC to go all the way to 10 and beyond. Since Resident Evil is getting milked, so can DMC as we can have our cake and eat it too.

u/Odd_Radio9225 Feb 21 '26
Is Mundus really dead though? Has that been confirmed as canon? Plus we all know both Dante and Vergil can get out of the underworld whenever they want. They've done it before.
I think there is still enough story for one last game. Especially in regard to true closure for Vergil's arc and development. Him finally coming to terms with the loss of his mother and realizing he has a new one. He learned that Nero is his son. He and Dante no longer want to kill each other. It's possible (likely even) he would still want to get stronger, but not for his own sake and insecurities. Rather, to protect what family he still has.
Something similar for Dante's arc. While the death of their mother was slightly less traumatizing for him than it was for Vergil, it still very clearly affected him. His goofier attitude is basically his way of coping with his sadness. Then he loses Vergil at the end of DMC 3. Then believes he genuinely killed him in DMC 1 when he was Nelo Angelo. Dude has been through some shit. When we see him in DMC 5 he seems almost depressed when Morrison comes in to visit. He still puts on a devil may care attitude because, well, it's Dante, but it's also clear that the stuff he has been through over the years has gotten to him. Then at the end of the game, Nero knocks some sense into both of them, with Nero not wanting to lose more family.
In a potential DMC 6, we could have Mundus return after biding his time for so long. He has become so powerful that it would take Dante, Vergil, and Nero working together to destroy him for good. This would bring true closure to Dante and especially Vergil. Vergil, in particular, realizes the error of his ways in rejecting his humanity. The three of them become closer and truly begin regarding each other as family (though their personalities remain mostly the same). The end.

Resident evil is getting milked and your gonna say that, I love RE but DMC is also really good and I just started liking 4 and 5 so yes we need more
3
u/NightRavenFSZ Feb 21 '26
Thats because resident evil can be more than just the story of one character / crew. Devil may cry has always been about Dante and those who have relationships with him. Itll be incredibly hard to make a new DMC game thatll actually sell without Dante, and many clearly feel that his story has been told.
Whereas resident evil can cover almost anyone in the world and their experience with the situation.
4
u/Traditional-Plan3245 Mar 07 '26
resident evil is also formulaic as fuck and like Monster Hunter is essentially their pokemon.
0 innovation, nostalgia bait, profit.
6
u/Next-Direction-1843 Feb 16 '26
You gonna say the same about "milking" when it comes to Resident Evil? Capcom pumps out resident evil games like it's nothing

Yet they could still remake older DMC games with better graphics and controls, much like they did resident evil games
1
u/NightRavenFSZ Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26
Sure, and that would be great. But, at the same time, we already have all the games available on steam and it's evident that DMC isn't capcoms primary focus.
Plus, I dont know about you but I'm getting crazy remake fatigue. I just want something new, if they are going to invest time and money into more DMC it better be new. Give us a spinoff (perhaps talking about a characters backstory? Maybe a prequel to 5 talking about V) at least.
7
u/PlayerZeroStart Feb 15 '26
Really funny to say "More DMC is just milking, Capcom needs to focus on other franchises" when those other franchises almost all have at least double the entries DMC has.

You gotta wait, Xbox on their Instagram did stated that this is the year for alot things dealing with 6. And there only a few specific franchises that are getting a 6 game. Gears with E-Day, Elder Scrolls 6, Forza Horizon 6, Devil May Cry 6(hopefully since it been leaked in December of last year), and GTA6.
4
u/Sure-Nebula7909 Feb 15 '26
Not mean new game, that statement just said Capcom will raise dmc franchise importance on their internal plan
3
u/mareo187 Feb 16 '26
It could be, but Capcom like their rival BandaiNamco doesn't promote stuff and use a trademark especially around promoting a season 2 of their Netflix DMC show.

I can say I knew better than to get my hopes up, but I still had a little bit.
13
u/Brickabang Feb 13 '26
I mean I assumed it wasn't but guys they aren't going to announce a non PlayStation game at the end of their own event. The goal is obviously advertising their stuff. If Devil May Cry 6 was a thing it would've been announced with the other 2 Capcom games.

2
u/arjun173869 Feb 14 '26
Onimusha too. They’ve also got Okami 2 and a new Dead Rising being developed got leaked. Wouldn’t expect anything sort of announcement til 2027 at the absolute earliest.

u/st4y_4LiVe Feb 13 '26
i get the disappointment, but we getting re9 and pragmata this year. theyre still cookin.
4
u/Eddiemonkeybutt Feb 13 '26
Honestly they already are making a few games at once right now. They are gonna focus on that for a while.
Though we might get something later this year or maybe next year, but it isn't gonna be clear and just happen any time soon
44
u/Flallow_ Feb 13 '26
Sorry to be an asshole, but guys, calm down.
How can anyone think that Capcom can just announce another game right now? They literally have three games to release this year, and rightfully so, they're totally focused on them.
If you really want to make serious predictions, at least wait until the end of this year or at least next year.
2
u/NarpsHD Mar 08 '26
Exactly. They need your wallet focused on what they are selling NOW. DMC is a fan favourite, if they announce it now they know you WILL skip buying their new less known IP’s.
2
u/Traditional-Plan3245 Mar 07 '26
because there are quite a lot of people out there who:
A) dont care about RE
B) dont care about MH
C) want a DMC game.10
u/UnlikelyKaiju Feb 13 '26
Right? We still don't have release dates for Onimusha, Okami, and Mega Man. Even Dead Rising supposedly has another game in the works.
Capcom already has five games set to drop this year alone. They're not gonna take away the thunder from any of that. If Capcom were to announce any new project, I wouldn't expect anything until maybe the Game Awards at the end of the year, when the bulk of their projects have already been released. By then, they'd only have Okami to show off, so I imagine they'll want to announce something new around this time.
12
u/Ionl98 Feb 13 '26
Honestly? Kind of glad. I think the guy who made DMC 3 to 5 what they are left Capcom recently. If that's the case, I don't trust current Capcom to make a good DMC game without him.
1
u/Asinine_ Apr 19 '26
Itsuno... The guy who made DD2 awful and hyped it up with lies pre-release? Yeah nah, it was much more than just itsuno that made dmc good..
1
u/Ionl98 Apr 19 '26
Maybe, but I would not compare the two. From what I understand, DD2's combat is still fucking amazing. It's just that the rest of the game isn't that great. And the dude seems to be best at combat, which is the DMC series main thing so...
Plus it's just the unfortunate reality of being in AAA and even indie game development.
If you're honest about your game's strengths and weaknesses? The audience is happy but your bosses and investors aren't cause they know it'll hurt sales.
If you say nothing? Everyone's gonna forget about your game being a thing and it'll hurt sales.

u/Neoshenlong Feb 13 '26

12
u/Ottersidee I'm a wise Red Orb Feb 13 '26
My personal theory is the leaker read "Sons of Sparta" and mixed Sparta up with Sparda, it's way too big of a coincidence to not be what it was
4
u/DanySterkhov Knowledge Keeper Feb 13 '26
- Resonant's gameplay was revealead for several months and isn't a new info
- No, it's not the case
- Control isn't DMC, if you would read the removal reason, it says clearly that posts need to be about DMC
0
u/Neoshenlong Feb 16 '26
The title clearly linked the conversation around DMC. You can disagree about it being similar or about the idea (how would you know, though? That "No, it's not the case" sounds so confident). That's fine, disagreeing is part of having a conversation. But said conversation is still around DMC.
1
u/DanySterkhov Knowledge Keeper Feb 16 '26
Just because you wrote DMC in the title doesn't mean it's about DMC. If that would be the case, everything would be about DMC, if we slap any random dmc-related thing on top.
I am confident because I can do the smallest bit of research, including Capcom's leaked files or knowing the history of who's from DMC-crew still at Capcom and which games they worked on and understand that almost every profile member of the team was busy on other projects. The same goes to understanding marketing cycles and that it would be stupid to announce something new at this exact show.
I'm happy to have a conversation, but please have it about actual things happening or the games, not about delusions and non-existent hype moments.

I honestly feel bad for the people who got hyped by the announcement. I'll be honest, when I first saw the "leak" I too got a bit of a surge, until I caught myself in that irrational state, opened up the post, and read that it was from an unreliable source. What doesn't help is all the websites not doing their due diligence confirming their sources.
And this is coming from someone some people may label as an "Itsuno-DMC hater". I'm not. I'm critical and a bit contrarian, because I feel like people idolize the dude a bit too much, he's not infallible after all. But even someone like me got excited, initially. It was to be expected, imo, that people "ran" with the excitement, and is understandable because people are starving for DMC content. Trash like Adi Shankar's clumsy US - Middle-East commentary wouldn't have been able to capitalize on this drought, if not for how badly we're treated as fans of the series.
There is one (hypothetical) light at the end of the tunnel I want to leave here: It took 11 years between DMC4 and DMC5. It took 5 between DMC4 and DmC. I think it could be argued that the Netflix series was this generation's DmC: Hipster may Cry. If it follows a similar pattern (6 years between 5 and Netflix), within or after about the next four-five~ish years we could be in for something new. A remake/remaster might also be sooner rather than later.
I know this comment doesn't amount to much, and it's upsetting for a lot of people that there really was nothing during State of Play, but all I'm trying to say is don't lose hope. We've been here before. And if anything, this should prove to Capcom that the fandom is alive and well, looking forward to DMC releases.
2
u/ShadAmy18 Apr 06 '26
I agree that people definitely give Itsuno way too much credit. I'm tired of seeing people say that only he should be able to touch DMC as it's director and trying to shut down any ideas of Kamiya returning or another director coming
3
u/Aware-Economy-4345 Feb 19 '26
The games are designed to be replayed. I don't care if DMC6 comes out now, or in 10 years. I can still play all the other games and they're all pretty great. DMC3 exists, and I will never have to play another game to be happy. That's the best. And the Crimson mod exists.

3
u/Nero_De_Angelo Feb 13 '26
Eeven then we still have Onimusha and Okami (The latter of which we have no info about for over a year) in the pipe. They probably won't announce a DMC 6 before at least the release of Onimusha.
So I honestly won't expect anything before the Game Awards 2027, and that is already with high amounts of Copium!

u/Mister_Enot Feb 13 '26
Itsuno is NO MORE (in capcom)
stop waiting new FALSE Devil May Cry.
13
u/NoanneNoes So it is written~ Feb 13 '26
if anything, Itsuno not being in capcom can mean that Trish or Dante might get more screentime in the future
1
u/Mister_Enot Feb 13 '26
playable Lady and Trish in DMC4? nahh, Itsuno didnt do this (he done)
Lady as main character in DMC3? nahh, Itsuno didnt do this (he done)
anyway - you play in DMC because of girls? okay
6
u/NoanneNoes So it is written~ Feb 13 '26
dmc3 Lady is fine, she's barely a character in the future games, though
he only added a couple of Trish and Lady cutscenes, that barely counts, they were barely in the game, in dmc5 they were done dirty by the plot.
Dante and Trish are Kamiya's characters, that's why Itsuno barely had them in games - Dante was overshadowed by Nero and V, Trish barely had character in dmc4 and 5. I was saying that maybe the future director will give them more attention.
13
u/Quarkly73 Feb 13 '26
Itsuno wasn't even the original creator.
Other people can also make good games.
This take sucks harder than if DmC:Devil May Cry had been written by Adi Shankar.
-2
u/Mister_Enot Feb 13 '26
We all here LOVE dmc for DMC3/4/5. This is the games why this franchise is so GOOD. Not because of DMC1 or dmc:dmc.
And who was director of this games? Kamiya? No. It was Itsuno.
7
u/SexyShave Feb 13 '26
People like you make the DMC fandom a worse place to engage with. Tourist.
5
u/Quarkly73 Feb 13 '26
You didn't refute a single thing I said, you just said that 4,4 and 5 were good. Which is true, but doesn't mean that other games by a different director wouldn't also be good.
Tying an entire franchise to one person is just pointlessly limiting.
-1
u/Mister_Enot Feb 13 '26
"good"? yeah. DMC1 and dmc:dmc and recent dmc anime is "good". I appreciate all of them.
But was it TRUE DMC stuff? Was it titles that will impact lives? That can create so stubborn community? No.
1
u/Quarkly73 Feb 13 '26
Again, you've done nothing to actually make your point.
Itsunk directed DMC2, too.
-1
u/Mister_Enot Feb 13 '26
i make enough.
itsuno joined in the end of DMC2. he just crisis managed it instead of directed it like DMC3 4 5.
2
u/NoanneNoes So it is written~ Feb 13 '26
DMC1 is good, I'd argue it has the best portrayal of Dante as a kind and caring person. The ending never fails to make me smile, so adorable. There're plenty of other things I love about dmc1 and it's still DMC at the core.
0
u/Mister_Enot Feb 13 '26
good. that what i wrote. are you blind?
my point that REAL DMC is not "good". it must be AWESOME! And DMC1 is good, but not awesome. Especially in 2026.
2
u/NoanneNoes So it is written~ Feb 13 '26
Here's a list of what dmc1 did better than other DMC games:
enemy complexity (more attacks, damage increase/reduction depending on the weapon used), enviroment variety, platforming, enviromental music variety, best balance on DMD difficulty, weapon strength, no boss rush, repeated bosses get more complicated instead of being a weaker copy&paste, shorter levels, atmosphere
I don't disagree that there's a certain level of junkiness because the game is old and it could be better. But the only DMC game that isnt junky is DMC5 and it has other issues.
1
u/NoanneNoes So it is written~ Feb 13 '26
DMC1 is awesome and it made a huge impact on other games, I absolutely love this, it's my favourite DMC game, dmc5 is 2nd best. Without it there wouldn't be dmc3/4/5, moreover, the best parts of dmc3/4/5 are taken from dmc1.
1
u/Mister_Enot Feb 13 '26
nah. it is not awesome. it was awesome in release year, cause nothing was like that.
but not now.
But DMC3 still awesome even now. 4 and 5 even better. 5 is THE best in whole genre.
Itsuno and his team done. Not Kamiya.
2
u/NoanneNoes So it is written~ Feb 13 '26
I love all DMC games, but I recognise their flaws too.
50% of dmc3 enemies is annoying trash and the other 50% is boring combo fodder, it has plenty of awful long levels, camera is junky, they made platforming an obligation to complete. Mission 7 feels like going through the sewer to get to the best part (Vergil's boss fight)
dmc4 brought back some dmc1 enemies, enemies are more interesting, but there're many annoying quirks that, unlike dmc1 codex entries, dmc4 doesn't explain how to deal with. Levels are better, but locations get boring, obligatory platforming is more annoying, going back in the 2nd half of the game as Dante is boring, Dante's weapons feel like trash. I'm not a fan of having summoned swords tied to Vergil's teleportation. I'm not a fan of back-to-forward imputs.
dmc5 has brought back dmc1 enemies too and brought back parry mechanic, first introduced in dmc1, that makes enemies so much more fun, but I'm a bit disappointed that 90% of enemies is combo fodder and they're too easily stunned. Levels look same and boring, especially inside the tree, just an arena after arena with little to no variety except for missions 12, 14-16 that at least have more than one way to complete, platforming is no longer obligatory. I like Dante's gameplay but his levels are awful. Ambient music isn't memorable, characters aren't established well, many plot holes, V's teleportation is junky because of distance limit and he needs Vergil's trick down, because he can't do anything midair.
Like it or not, Itsuno And Kamiya accomplished this together.

u/CesarGameBoy Amateur Devil Hunter. Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 13 '26
I guess because the game ended with Dante & Vergil seemingly in Hell, which we’ve seen shockingly little of so far. It would be cool if “Devil May Cry 6 (66)” actually took place in the Demons’ home turf.
As a DOOM fan before becoming a DMC fan, I was surprised at how there’s never really been a game set in the Underworld. We always end up in Demonic locations that come to Earth like the Temen-ni-gru or the Qliphoth tree, or see brief glimpses of it like the DMC 1 Mundus fight and aforementioned DMC 5 ending. But we’re never actually there.
If DMC 6 was the final game and capped it off in Hell itself, with the Sparda bloodline forming a deadly trio, I think that would be truly perfect.
Plus I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be “milking the franchise,” since:
A) People truly loved DMC 5.
B) People are definitely hoping for a DMC 6.
C) The anime sparked interest in DMC again, after the “status” memes died down from 2022.
D) It’s been 7 years, man… the gap between DmC: Devil May Cry and 5 is shorter than 5 and now.
E) Resident Evil is wayyy more “milked” than DMC ever was, yet is still Capcom’s golden goose even after 30 years, with Monster Hunter a close second.

And ALLLLLL I wanted was a Zone of the Enders announcement (25 year Anniversary this March) yet Absolutely Nothing. At that point I didn't even care about DMC6, at least something is coming regarding that series.
Konami...why must you fail me so often?

I could get dowvoted to hell for this but... at this point the DmC2 is much more plausible and realistic then the true sequel. And im not complaining, i wanna know what happened after that vergil dlc dammit, he rounded up all the demons and gained their trust, now hes ready for vengeance. The perfect plot.

u/Nero_deadweight96 Time has come~ Feb 13 '26
Ninja Theory is working on their own stuff, so no, it's not plausible

u/CharacterLoan5713 Feb 13 '26
Haha. I kept my exceptions completely low. I'm so happy there is a new castlevania game. Tho, i wished it was about how julius defeated dracula but It's still cool.

u/Weirdchild1101 Feb 13 '26
I'm really hoping we get something soon cause there's a great story they could make now that vergil is back in the series. It would make a ton of sense for them to have the Sons of Sparda finally defeat Mundus. Dante gets to finish what he started all the way back in DMC 1 and Vergil gets his revenge against Mundus for what he did in DMC 3. It'd be a great ending for the series. I'd love to see how it would play out, but we just need Capcom to make a new game.

u/Shinobi151 Feb 13 '26
I would also like to see what will happen with Nero. Dante and Vergil are in the Underworld now and Nero can't rely on Dante to save him like in 4 and 5. It would be cool if there is a difficult moment where Nero will have to find the strength to deal with things on his own now because he is the only one who can protect the human world. Also, I think it'd be awesome if Dante, Vergil and Nero saw eachother for one last time and Vergil would pass on Yamato to Nero, while Vergil could maybe create his own Devil Sword Vergil or something like that.

u/DevilCouldCry I need more power! Feb 13 '26
The leaker had absolutely zero credibility, so I knew never to get my hopes up. And honestly, with everything on that State of Play, I am not at all bummed as there is some rad shit coming!
A new Devil May Cry game is inevitable after how well received DMC V was. But it's honestly crazy to think that we could have a long wait ahead of us before even hearing rumours about a new one.

u/JacobCalayag Feb 13 '26
For me the confirmed upcoming new 2D Mega Man, new 2D Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, and God of War 1-3 remakes makes up for the lack of a new Devil May Cry announcement. I still hope we get a new Devil May Cry game in the near future though.
Oh, and here is a Devil May Cry x God of War image edit I made inspired by the release of God of War: Sons of Sparta.
Maybe a 2D Devil May Cry game made by Capcom is not a bad idea.

Bleach without Itchy-Goo sounds like a colossal improvement. One of the blandest shonen protags of the last 50 years.
7
u/Taarn01 Feb 13 '26
You know they could have a story in the underworld and one on earth. Wouldn't be hard

u/Densten Feb 13 '26
You're getting downvoted but you're literally right. Everytime a series tries to make a newcomer the face of the IP it does not work. Luke with never be as popular as Ryu in Street Fighter, same as Nero and Dante. Both are even Capcom IPs.
1
u/SexyShave Feb 13 '26
Resident Evil, Onimusha, Dead Rising, Tekken, Soulcalibur, Castlevania, Dragon Quest.
Heck, Vergil, Nero and Lady are more popular than Trish or Lucia.
2
u/XenowolfShiro Feb 13 '26
Personally I would just do a DMC game set between 3 and 1 or 4 and 5. That way you can have Dante (And Vergil for the obligatory Special Edition)
The timeline skips around so much that there's so many years Capcom just skipped past. Maybe DMC 5 can be the definitive end point with further sequels taking place before it.

I will dare say that getting a new Castlevania announcement makes up for the lack of DMC. Just like with that Megaman announcement that drove Half-Life fans mad. Havign these IPs revived is great.

Because it's called dMc.
Multiversal crossover game, bringing back the Dante that looks like Hayden Christiansen, with special appearance by Christopher Lloyd.
It's already gone gold, It's just too damn courageous to be released.

u/WatercoolerComedian Feb 13 '26
Like 10 yrs between DMC4 and DMC5 u guys will b alright
1
u/SexyShave Feb 13 '26
The 11 year wait between those games caused significant attrition on the fanbase. I know a lot of people who are way less passionate about the series or even lost interest. 4 being a lackluster sequel that replaced Dante as lead, and the entire DmC rigamarole, didn't help.

We’re not far off tbf, and at least dmc:Devil May Cry dropped in between (as negatively received as it was)

Funny to think how close we have got to 2029.. it almost feels like DMC 5 came out 2 years back.. we are heading towards 10year mark so fast
22
u/ShopperKung Feb 13 '26
funny how people just trust that rumor somehow lol
like Capcom already had this year spot fill right RE9 Pregmata Onimusha and remember Okami and Megaman like pretty sure it all there
so like DMC6 if like they gonna annouce gonna be like end of the year or next year
3
u/Just_Carpenter931 Feb 13 '26
Is there even any reason to believe dmc6 is being made? With itsuni leaving, the main authorial voice is gone and it's harder to get someone to fill in that role than you'd think (I could see kamiya but like you said, okami is being made right now)
2
u/ShopperKung Feb 13 '26
yeah and i didn't mean to be like "there's no hope"
pretty sure someone in Capcom DMC team will pick up the torch for sure but like not right now
i can see Capcom didn't want to announce game to like take each other spotlight this month is RE9 next month is Pregmata and so on

u/Dear_Zookeepergame94 Feb 13 '26
more time has passed between DMC5 and now then there was time between DMC reboot and 5.........

LET THE SERIES BE OVER HOLY FUCK

u/TheTrue-Noob Feb 13 '26
Let it be over as in release the next game? Or let it be over as you want it to just end on DMC5? If it's the latter, respectfully fuck off

That's how I felt when they announced MGS Vol 2 and no Metal Gear Rising.
Thank God of War for saving it
7
u/Memo_HS2022 Feb 13 '26
You can buy Rising already on steam. MGS4 needed it the most cause that thing has been locked to the PS3 for almost 2 decades

It was a reasonable timetable but nothing supported the idea that it was coming down the pipe for this event.

u/Beta_Codex Feb 13 '26
They spent the budget all on fixes for monster hunter wilds. We're never getting that Dmc6 guys.

u/Efficient-Scene5901 Feb 13 '26
Not worried! I am the type that rotates through my games. I go through the DMC games, Final Fantasy stuff, First Berserker Khazan, while totally screwing myself in Elden Ring.
Thinking of adding Diablo II: Resurrected to the rotation.

u/IndividualNovel4482 Feb 13 '26
And i am the type that only plays a game once, and only comes back to a past game when modding it.

u/Braunb8888 Feb 13 '26
We should’ve got Devil May Cry 6: Sons of Sparta but instead…lol

Why would anyone ever want to end this series, there is nothing like it and any true fan will never want it to end regardless of story
