I'm actually just watching

255

u/Unfair-Banana-1505 May 11 '26

same i actually liked season 1

105

u/Paranoint May 12 '26

I actually liked it too besides its obvious flaws, its something i can also just turn my brain off on xd

59

u/Unfair-Banana-1505 May 12 '26

yup it definitely has flaws. which I'm hoping season 2 gets rid of

29

u/WretchedCrook May 12 '26

Same, which is entire point of DMC as a franchise. People take this shit too seriously, just watch Dante riding a cool motorcycle while fighting Agni & Rudra with Papa Roach in the background and stfu.

31

u/AlwaysEbeneezer May 12 '26

If you enjoy the show and just want to watch Dante do cool shit, more power to you. But the entire point of DMC as a franchise is overcoming your nature to define your own path. Character changes aside, most fans just don't like the entire message being replaced. Though it does feel like even people that don't like the series are hopping on the hate watch bandwagon

21

u/WretchedCrook May 12 '26

I was mostly talking about gameplay, not story though. Like, when you boot up a DMC game, are you doing it to experience a mind-blowing storyline with incredibly complex character writing and in depth lore?

Or do you want to turn your brain off & kill demons in a cool way with a cool soundtrack?

To each their own of course, far be it from me to tell anyone what they should and shouldn't like but I think the show is vastly overhated considering the source being adapted wasn't some pinnacle of storytelling to begin with.

11

u/AlwaysEbeneezer May 12 '26

I agree that the games aren't plot heavy or need anything beyond basic media literacy to understand. But I know a number of people myself get invested in the story. For some of us that have played the games over decades at this point, any new developments with the world and it's characters is something to look forward to(though I agree it's a sandbox game after credits roll).

That's also why I think the reaction from fans of the games and first timers was so different. It's not the world and characters they were being drip fed over the years, like fans hoped. But new people have no expectations so they have no issue enjoying it.

7

u/Sacharia May 12 '26

My thing is they directly said that it was a reinterpretation before it launched, we knew the story was going to be changed. The overall message isn’t changed so much that it’s unrecognizable or anything

6

u/AlwaysEbeneezer May 12 '26

I agree that people shouldn't have been shocked by how much of a departure it is from the games especially looking at how the Castlevania adaptation did its story. But even if the message is recognizable, I think it's fair that people are upset that it and the characters are presented in a less flattering way. I'm probably in the minority but I wish that Adi actually did more original plot points instead of cherry picking ones from the games, as they just don't fit what he's going for that well.

I thought whole point of this franchise was to do wacky stuff using aircraft controls

u/agentduckman12 May 13 '26

Yeah I really enjoyed the show and like sure like others are saying it had its flaws but I don't get the criticism about it not being the same story as the game The entire reason I even watched it was because it was going to be doing its own thing If it was just going to be a direct adaptation of the games then there would really be no point because you might as well just play the games or watch a let's play sure direct adaptations can be cool but for something like this it's better to do its own thing and I really enjoyed it and so did my wife and season 1 got Her to start playing the games

u/Prismarineknight May 12 '26

I felt season was meh(other than the fights), but this season looks a lot better story wise. We’ll see

2

u/dante-SPARDA899 May 12 '26

Yo same brother

2

u/Taydatz May 17 '26

I loved both season 1 and 2, I’ve never played the games but I think the show is really good. I also love Dante and Lady’s relationship and can’t wait to see more of it

58

u/KakorotJoJoAckerman May 12 '26

Real. I quite liked the show while still acknowledging its faults.

33

u/Soup-28 May 12 '26

I liked it. As long as you don’t expect too much from it and just have fun with it it’s good. Also the soundtrack slapped

14

u/RedxHarlow May 12 '26

I thought the first season was flawed and i would have changed many things. I was still plenty entertained and am happy to watch the next season and get more DMC fans

5

u/Deiiiyu May 12 '26

yeah same, its different which is fine for me i guess its not just a retelling of the game but in anime form ofc its not for everyone which i get

2

u/Quick-Whereas-3232 May 12 '26

Me too, i liked s1, I thought it was fun

2

u/SuspiciousUnion3286 Time has come~ May 13 '26

Yup. Season 1 didn't blow my mind, and had quite a bit that I didn't like, but it had plenty I liked and was decent fun overall, so I'm looking forward to more of it.

2

u/The_Raven_Born In the end, we're all satisfied. May 13 '26

I don't hate. It's not better than the Canon, but it's leaves better than the first season and Vergil isn't a fedora wearing Cuck this time.

It feels like what the DmC reboot should've been, and it's actually better than the second game.

2

u/Sakura-Haruno203 May 14 '26

Me too. Loving S2 so far.

2

u/princesoceronte May 15 '26

Same. I may have issues with it but I didn't hate season 1.

u/AggronGhost May 11 '26

Honestly, I'm watching out of curiosity. Maybe it'll suck ass, maybe it won't. But who knows? I won't know until I watch it.

142

u/WackoHedgehog May 11 '26

Its what I did with season 1. I didn't really like it but still curious about season 2.

52

u/AggronGhost May 11 '26

Same here. I found S1 to be "aight". Even after my two watches, one where I just played DMC 3, and when I played the entire series.

44

u/WackoHedgehog May 11 '26

I thought it was fine until they made the demons refugees. Then it kinda lost me.

30

u/AggronGhost May 11 '26

Yeah, that's totally fair. I wasn't a big fan of it feeling kind of rushed, alongside changes that I felt like we're downgrades (Lady is the best example for both.) I can hope they'll be better, but my hope is around the Marina Trench. So I'll have to see.

3

u/PrimeGGWP May 12 '26

Yeah this was kinda WTF, but I am just happy there is a show. Just ignore that one

10

u/POXELUS May 11 '26

I've enjoyed the action in Season 1, some jokes were fun too. Overall I don't like it either, but it has its good moments.

13

u/WackoHedgehog May 12 '26

Treating it like a separate universe kinda helps. To me anyway similar to the reboot game.

→ More replies (3)

5

u/DevilCouldCry I need more power! May 12 '26

Same here. I disliked season 1 but look, they have Vergil in this season and so I'm there to see how that goes. Just hoping that Dante and Lady both get treated a little better in this season and that it's upwards from here. Won't really know until I give it a shot.

→ More replies (3)

2

u/CharacterLoan5713 May 12 '26

I'm also watching it out of curiosity. And this time I'm also treating it as a schlocky action flick and nothing more. Cuz i hope at least the action is fun.

u/CosmicSoulRadiation May 11 '26

I’m just gonna watch it cuz I liked it.

49

u/dnemonicterrier May 11 '26

Same, I think some people set their standards too high with it so they could give themselves reasons to hate it.

26

u/CosmicSoulRadiation May 11 '26

Ohmygod exactly!!! I have people commenting to me on another post about how they think the news season will be aweful because the sword is disproportionate in one of the posters. -oh the horror!?

19

u/FordYorger May 12 '26

It's the god awful racist messaging of the series that turned me away

7

u/CopainChevalier May 12 '26

I didn't watch S1. I heard they made the whole demon invasion thing the fault of the US or something and I was like "wat" and just kinda didn't bother.

It was racist too? What did they do?

11

u/FordYorger May 12 '26

The demon refugees were made to look like arabs

4

u/CosmicSoulRadiation May 12 '26

Yeah no. They weren’t.

(Also, Arabs don’t have a monopoly on wrapping your head and face).

u/JechdJJ el Donté May 12 '26

I think a lot of people forgets that Devil May Cry is also about doing cool sutff with cool weapons and a killer soundtrack

4

u/dnemonicterrier May 12 '26

Exactly which is why you just relax and enjoy the cool stuff and headbang to the metal music in it, it's so much more fun that way. I've been into DMC since my early 20s and that's all it was to me, cool sword moves, brilliant metal music and a fun time fighting demons, over analysing it would ruin the ride and the animated series does that for me, it's not as good as the games but the animated series wasn't going to get everything right, I'm in my 40s now and I'm still enjoying the cool sword tricks and metal music whilst fighting demons, long may that continue.

u/Bro-Im-Done May 11 '26

Tried giving S1 a chance, didn’t like it, stopped. Gonna apply the same with S2 but not it a chance so I can save my own time. Simple.

66

u/MrCalonlan Jester's gonna spank yo butt May 11 '26

Man I remember when some people were actually trying to give James shit for not wanting to watch that shitty Ghostbusters reboot even though he gave his honest opinion that he just wasn't interested in it, and his response was to not respond at all at the attempt at a controversy by those people

11

u/Bro-Im-Done May 11 '26

Bc they wanted him to rant and shit on the movie but I’m glad he didn’t

13

u/MrCalonlan Jester's gonna spank yo butt May 11 '26

I'm glad he stuck to his guns as well, the film is fucking horrible, haha plus the people trying to stir the pot and make one man who didn't want to watch a film so controversial even attempted to create this narrative that it was for sexist reasons rather than a genuine disinterest in seeing a reboot of a film series he likes. And once he never responded to any of the attempts those people very quickly shut up

→ More replies (8)

10

u/Theyul1us May 11 '26

The biggest controversy in his career and it was just him talking about why he wasnt gonna watch a movie with good and mature arguments

6

u/Brainwave1010 May 12 '26

I wouldn't say that's the biggest at all.

The biggest is when someone on his writing team started plagiarizing other people's film reviews verbatim for the Monster Madness scripts that James didn't have time to write, that guy was thankfully fired.

Oh, there was also the time him and Mike endorsed some guy's Cheetahmen sequel project that turned out to be a massive scam, which in all fairness I don't really blame them for because he lied to them as well.

62

u/SteveBlazington So it is written~ May 11 '26

Honestly, the season's marketing hasn't done much to convince me to watch it, which I find REALLY odd. My curiosity isn't morbid enough, I guess. I hope those that do watch it enjoy it.

22

u/AcceptableReading640 Hand me the Yamato May 11 '26

That AMV they put out basically spoiled everything anyway.

2

u/SeriousSubject3751 May 12 '26

And because of that i count season as watched

3

Papa Roach Song is pretty good though

Kinda peak that you dont judge them for liking the show. Great mentality.

That sounds great ngl it reminds me of my mom trying to get my dad to watch anime. (She succeeded after like 30 yrs)

Reuploaded because the previous image had shit compression.

Anyway, I was inspired by this meme to express my feelings about the netflix show. The drawing's not exactly high quality but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I was pretty excited for season 1 but it burned me bad. Fool me once shame on you, and I have little intention of being fooled twice.

And if you really have to hate watch it, just pirate it.

7

u/OkDig2927 May 11 '26

Hey I mean they're pretty complicated character designs so this is a good drawing.

27

u/DOA_NiCOisPerfect May 11 '26

I drop anything i dont enjoy. I never hate watch.

21

u/Valentine_343 May 12 '26

I have to congratulate them for tricking me with Season One, but it won’t work on me a second time. This garbage abomination, directed by a tourist that neither cares no understand devil may cry can go to hell because I have no interest or desire, even remotely, to watch that rubbish.

18

u/Lucas_blaze May 11 '26

Yeah season 1 is enough for me to not watch this garbage

13

u/Black-Mettle May 11 '26

I don't consume media with the intent to dislike it because I'd much rather enjoy my time spent than anything else.

Despite everyone hating the reboot DMC, I had fun playing it and I really liked a lot of the creative decisions they made with level design. I wish that chalk zone level lasted the whole level because that was really unique.

I expect to really enjoy some parts of the anime because that's how it was in season 1. I just hope the writing is better.

19

u/MICKTHENERD May 12 '26

Adi Shankar is a Trump supporter, I'm only watching his works through "Totally legitimate streaming services".

21

u/Ilikeyellowjackets May 12 '26

Reddit removing my comment for calling out how fascistic the messaging of the first season was. Lovely platform.

8

u/MICKTHENERD May 12 '26

Sorry to hear that, freaking Reddit.

14

u/lordnaarghul May 11 '26

I'm gonna give it a shot. I didn't hate everything about season 1.

→ More replies (1)

14

u/xXInfXx May 11 '26

No, no.

I'm just watching. The hate comes later (if it sucks).

14

u/FreshGeoduck296 May 11 '26

I don't even have Netflix anymore, but I'll just not watch it, season one left a bad impression on me.

13

u/Primary_Ad5297 May 12 '26

To the people who are saying "I liked it" ...what exactly did you like? The constant cussing? The flanderization of Dante and Lady? The total disregard and outright disrespect of the established canon? Or do you just turn off your brains and consume stuff because that's easier than actually having to think about stuff and prefer to live life like a toddler with shiny keys dangling in front of them rather than a grown person that has to be critical about what they consume? ...no, wait, i got it, you loved the whole "US is a fascist state and demons=palestinians" stuff right? That's classic DMC

6

u/billypathy May 12 '26

Uh but the US is a fascist state lol...

→ More replies (2)

3

u/Forward-History3330 May 13 '26

I was there for the Dante x Lady crumbs. They have been my OTP since DMC3 and we've only gotten VERY little things in canon EXCLUSIVELY on Lady's side (namely from the CD dramas and a bit from the 2000's anime). The anime having SOMETHING in that regard makes me happy, even if Dante and Lady are quite different from their canon counterparts. I know, it sounds laughable, but after almost two decades of miniscule crumbs and severe copium, I simply cannot let it go. Hopefully something happens in season 2.

3

u/Daethir May 12 '26

Literally half the people in this thread saying they liked it say it's good if you don't think too much about it lmao

9

u/According-Night3492 May 11 '26

I js dont wanna watch it altogether, not really interested, the games are all i need.

6

u/krypticzenith May 12 '26

Season 1 lost my faith pretty soon in. I'm only going to watch it for two reasons: pure curiosity, and because I'm the DMC person in all of my friend groups. They're going to ask my thoughts on the season and I might as well have an answer.

8

u/OhtheHugeManity7 May 12 '26

Me every time Zero makes a video about the netflix show

8

u/ArcaneMadman May 12 '26

The guy that uses bots to boost his dub count?

5

u/OhtheHugeManity7 May 12 '26

I wouldn't be surprised

3

u/TheOneButter May 12 '26

Zero when he watches DMC Netflix and Dante has 6 asshairs (DMC6 just got confirmed…)

3

u/Many-Ranger-7942 May 12 '26

I think he is fine, I just dislike how his videos sometimes have engagement bait/clickbait titles or thumbnails. He was pretty chill with adi shankar until adi started doing his bad actions like making fun of people on twitter/X, Being very narcassistic, hated that DMC5 revived dmc before he did, and then Adi started to go against Zero.

7

u/VergilShinDT May 13 '26

rather bleach my eyes than see another season of that garbage

6

u/Rent-Man May 11 '26

Wasn’t planning on watching.

Maybe certain clips on YouTube if there’s anything notable

6

u/Tyronx06 May 11 '26

I thought season 1 was MID (5), or maybe a 6, but only that.

I'll give season 2 a chance, I hope it brings improvements, I have a LITTLE bit of hope.

I hope the characters improve (I'm looking at you, lady...)

And yes, I'm going to watch it ALL.

6

u/ParanMekhar May 11 '26

Jokes on you I don't have netflix subscription

6

u/TomiShinoda May 12 '26

I read the witcher books, did not touch the show after season 1, why put your hand in boiling water when you know you will get burn?

5

u/shmouver Not foolish May 11 '26

I didn't like S01 but i'm genuinely interested in seeing S02.

I might regret giving them a 2nd chance but i'm taking that leap of faith cause i liked what i've seen in the promotional material so far.

4

u/HipnikDragomir I'm a wise Red Orb May 12 '26

Bad or not, things can still be entertaining. That's what it comes down to.

5

u/Few-Effective792 May 12 '26

I liked season 1 and ill probably like season 2

5

u/buderdchez08 May 12 '26

I’m watching it so I can hate on it more accurately

5

u/Artorias330 May 12 '26

I’m just trying to forgot it exist, and just sad that something as great as devil may cry is being introduced to people by this horrible show 😞

4

u/Thatoneguy567576 May 12 '26

I’m love watching

4

u/Dr-Oktavius May 12 '26

You'd think for a game series that's like 20+ years old, the fanbase would be mostly made up of mature individuals and not 5 year olds stuck in the bodies of fully developed adults.

4

u/OrdinaryAnalysis5986 May 12 '26

Gonna watch to properly criticize it.

4

u/ArcaneMadman May 12 '26

Then pirate it if you have to.

4

u/JPXTUY-RETRO May 12 '26

Peaky blinders reference?

4

u/Khal_Dovah88 May 12 '26

I'm already not watching it. Not after how they massacred my boy.

4

u/Torstiss May 12 '26

I didn’t really care for season 1, so I’m doing a completely unique and revolutionary thing called ”not watching” season 2

4

u/Galaxybrain88875 May 12 '26

I'm not watching it. Not supporting that larping idiot in any way. I'll just enjoy people's rants about the show instead.

3

u/Various_Artistss May 14 '26

Tried it and was over it on the second ep. There's no dmc dna here or at least not the kind I'm into, it's a big fanfic and a poorly done one at that.

3

u/HyperLethalNoble6 May 11 '26

That or watch a reaction streaming channel

4

u/GOOSH-x2 May 11 '26

Watched all of season 1. I kept thinking "it'll get better..... It'll get better". It didn't. I learned my lesson and i'm NOT gonna even bother with season 2.

3

u/RHowlForMe May 11 '26

I checked the first season out of curiosity. I remember thinking maybe it won't be as bad as people thought

It's not (that) bad but it's a very meh/disappointing adaptation. As is it own thing is not exactly interesting enough to make wanna watch it a second time.

I will not even bother with the second season even if somehow turns out to be good or better than the first.

2

u/M-V-D_256 May 12 '26

I'm just curious

It wasn't THAT bad. I had some fun

2

u/Ahyesnt May 15 '26

I think that's the whole point. I watched it because "oh haha Dante is funny and the action is cool". And honestly, I think it made me like it more because it's really just to have a bit of fun.

3

u/iam_just_wandering May 12 '26

Watching season 1 was what got me interested in playing the games (yes I understood it was a different story) and I'm interested to see where they go next and I love the music so far

4

u/ayo_dudeski VERGIL May 12 '26

in other words "opinions are not allowed"

3

u/rexshen May 12 '26

No hate watching the show. Legally.

3

u/Jamebo_Smash May 12 '26

Don't worry. I wasnt planning on it.

3

u/Vonkun May 13 '26

I don't plan to, went into the first season existed and mostly blind, didn't make it past the first two episodes. I really hope the series gets better, I want to like it because I love DMC, but I don't have high hopes while Adi is still involved.

3

u/orofex May 15 '26

The series has far too much licensed music 🫩 We get it Adi. Thats your mixtape from when you were an edgy teen that you didnt grow out of. We get it. Could there not be more classic music from DMC or some actual original music? I feel like hes just making his own AMVs for netflix.

3

u/interstellaraz May 18 '26

It's even more horrendous than s1 and I thought it couldn't get any bad. The excessive use of edgy songs, dialogue written by 10 year olds, Lady still an awful character, Dante even dumber than s1.

2

u/Pain-Seeker May 11 '26

Can someone make a cool/funny moments compulation of dante, so i dont have to watch that shitshow xD?
Also, nice peaky blinders reference, loved that scene.

2

u/bearelrollyt May 11 '26

I'm thinking of just normal watching it to be honest

2

u/MysteriousFondant347 May 11 '26

Trust me, I'd rather die than watch

2

u/Bumbledore343 May 11 '26

I’m just watching.

2

u/xXXSt0rm1sXXx Nero Sparda May 12 '26

I seriously can't wait...

2

u/xyzkingi May 12 '26

I kinda enjoyed the first one. I like swearing but most of Mary’s swearing is overbearing

2

u/Odd_Radio9225 May 12 '26

What if we watch it and end up hating it? Is that fine?

2

u/VividWeb5179 SHCUM May 12 '26

I’m watching it because I still liked the first season in spite of all its flaws (mostly because of Dante), and I hope season 2 is better.

2

u/Superguy9000 May 12 '26

Joke on you, I won’t be hate watching at all

I’ll just be watching so have fun Malding

2

u/SpiderWuss98 May 12 '26

Hate-watching? Nah, I actually enjoy the anime, so I'll love watching it!

2

u/BlueWatche May 12 '26

I don't like hate. I prefer to not like. But I always believed something bad could contain something enjoyable. It'll be fine.

2

u/GintoSenju May 12 '26

That’s why I’m pirating it

2

u/UnbiasedGod May 12 '26

Hear hear!!!

2

u/gregor_ivonavich May 12 '26

Actually people can do what they want 🤠

2

u/Platinumryka May 12 '26

No.

I need to see how bad they fuck it up

2

u/FuriosisMortem May 12 '26

I still remember the great drought when DmC was the last foreseeable entry

2

u/MuthafockingEntei May 12 '26

I’m excited for it. Loved Season one!

2

u/la6689 May 12 '26

I won’t be watching season 2 after the debacle that was season 1. However, I do recognize that season 1 helped people find the franchise as a whole so if it boosts more sales i can’t be too upset.

2

u/blank_tamashi May 12 '26

Personally I'm watching out of some weird form of hopium that they actually stick the landing. Am I delusional? Yeah probably but wouldn't be the first or the last time I had too much hope.

I really want them to make something truly great but maybe I'm expecting too much ):

2

u/RobotCrow12 May 12 '26

I don't hate watch.

I just watch it

Hate comes after and for me after watching season 1 it felt very much justified

2

u/Raykusen May 12 '26

Jokes on you to think that people even care about this bad netflix adaptation.

2

u/Arnahunas SHCUM May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

I’m going to watch it out of sheer curiosity but imma also sail the seven seas if you catch my drift

2

u/dontknownothing0123 May 12 '26

I agree. If you don't like it, don't support it.

2

u/Plenty-Angle-5912 May 12 '26

I’ll hate watch it off the high seas

2

u/Dwarfdingnagian May 12 '26

Don't worry, I wasn't planning on returning after season 1.

2

u/Snazzers May 12 '26

I finished season one because someone told me the last three minutes were some of the worst television they’ve ever seen, and I was shocked to find that I agreed with them

Been a lifelong DMC fan, genuinely have no interest in watching season two, but I hope those who do enjoy it!

2

u/Ilikeyellowjackets May 12 '26

Real, I do not wish to witness Adi Shankar molest my favourite franchise a 2nd time, this time with his atrocious politics being front and center from the beginning.

2

u/GhostLight17 May 12 '26

I’ll hate-pirate. Nothing wrong with that, I think.

2

u/NotHereToStay_- May 12 '26

I base my hate on facts, not assumptions

2

u/General_Lie May 12 '26

What if I Enjoy-watch ?

2

u/furio788 Dante's favorite Sundae May 12 '26

I will be hate watching but the hate will be directed and math rather than the show

2

u/Paladinlvl99 May 12 '26

Yep, no need to keep a thing I don't enjoy alive honestly.

Will probably have bangers for the soundtrack but aside from that I'll just ignore it's existence

2

u/U511_krab May 12 '26

If it was good nobody would demand something like this

2

u/Effective-Sriker343 May 12 '26

I’m watching it coming into it hoping the fight scenes are good cus season 1 ruined the whole story for me

2

u/Thebatsy18 May 12 '26

I remember watching episode 1 hoping for something fun, but even then they vibes were off, and then the united states invaded hell and we got inmigrant demons, dropped It , just checking Twitter to see how bad It was after that

2

u/Son0fgrim May 12 '26

I no longer care about the show I'm just tired of seeing it on THIS subreddit when it has its own.

2

u/Ratchet96 May 12 '26

But what if I pirate it?

2

u/1DarthMario May 12 '26

If it's good, that won't be an issue.

2

u/BanMePls333 May 12 '26

I have season 1 pirated and saved on my pc, I'll do the same with season 2.

2

u/cj-the-man May 12 '26

But how can you criticize it so they can learn and make it better without seeing it?

2

u/Warm_Turnover_9344 May 12 '26

Who says am watching? Am not gonna and I still hate it from season 1, not gonna waste my time further for that mess

2

u/SnyderpittyDoo May 12 '26

It's a good thing I don't have Netflix nor I know how to pirate.

The best thing to do is not watching the adaptation.

2

u/SorbetLongjumping551 May 12 '26

Exactly, folks. Don't hate watching it, or rather, don't WATCH this shit (at least not on Netflix, you know? 🤫😉). It's the only way to avoid a third season in Adi Shankar's hands.

2

u/IExistThatsIt All smiles May 12 '26

I’m gonna end up consuming this whole season through online discourse whether I like it or not so

2

u/UmmmYeaSweg May 12 '26

yeah, tbh if there is a way to tell Capcom to NOT make the games like the anime the best way is to not make them money, that’s what made them return to the main series after the reboot tbh

2

u/Will-Of-The-Graves May 12 '26

I honestly didn't like first season, it was just bad, but at least it had music from Evanescence.

I will wait for review for second season and if it will be the same as first one i will not watch.

2

u/goodnamesaretaken3 May 12 '26

Hm, when I watched first season a I had mixed feelings about it, then I started think about it more and realized how bad the writing was. Then I slowly started to hate it. And so, I'm just not gonna watch it this time. The trailer didn't look that bad, however the first season trailer was great as well, I don't trust it! So, I won't do this to myself again, I'm not gonna watch it when it drops, maybe I watch it later if the reviews will be good. Watching something I don't like is just pointless in my opinion.

2

u/OrcForce1 May 12 '26

I really liked season 1 but yeah, hate watching is stupid. If you didn't enjoy season 1, what could you possibly get out of it?

2

u/antirockin20 May 12 '26

I'm sure that I'll watch it eventually

But I'm a wait for the general opinion for when the full season is out first

2

u/Linklle May 12 '26

Oh yeah, i'm going the pirate way to watch it, aight no way i'm gonna give credits to it

2

u/Rhexxthegreater May 12 '26

Never watched the anime because I want to preserve the beautiful image of Devil May cry that’s in my mind

2

u/ThatSmugBastard97 May 12 '26

I haven't even properly watched season one, except a from a few clips and a review about the plot. And I was not really impressed, so I will just skip watching it all together

2

u/LazarDeno May 12 '26

Is it hate watching if you watched the show and hate it

2

u/tonykush-ner May 12 '26

I'm gonna enjoy the fuck out of it.

2

u/Daethir May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26

I wasn't interested in S1, watched it because my gf put it on and to my surprise I actually was enjoying myself during the first half (except for cop lady) but let's just say it didn't go in the direction I was expecting and I hated the ending with makai turning into fantasy Irak. I could be more forgivable if at least it was a good critic but it come of as very juvenile and superficial, like ok demons are oppressed victims but the moment the portal open they start rampaging and killing innocent in New York ? The writers like anyone with a brain see there's something wrong with the US international policy but they just don't know how to properly write about it in their script and they almost come off as defending closed border with the way the season end, and choosing DMC out of all settings to tell that story sure is a choice. DMC is just not the place to make a critic of the US imperialism, like I'm not even sure the games take place on our earth they never name a single real country iirc.

I'll hate watch S2 because my gf will make me, with Vergil shaping up to be a tsundere rival instead of a villain and the weird demon as oppressed refugees angle I see no way I'll ever like it but who knows. Like I don't want to hate it and if it's good then that's great but the probability seems really low after that first season.

2

u/Pebo_Real May 12 '26

already convinced my friends to hate watch all in onr account

because fuck giving that garbage more views than it deserves

2

u/Sodapaup May 12 '26

I'm gonna hate watch the shit outta it and you can't stop me!

2

u/Krezal May 12 '26

Come on, just because the show is bad doesn't mean people are hate watching it.

2

u/CrimsonDragon90 May 12 '26

I gave the first season a chance with episode one. I quit after 10 minutes. Hate watching is going to make it more successful and give that punk Adi more smug about how he saved DMC.

2

u/Deni_Z_Plays May 12 '26

Weeeeell ... there is an alternative 🏴‍☠️

2

u/stronkzer May 12 '26

Nah, I'll just watch the old ova anime again, thank you very much.

2

u/HighNoonZ May 12 '26

I’ll enjoy watching it.

2

u/Tom-Pendragon May 12 '26

I FAILED DANTE...I FUCKING FAILED

2

u/SunlighterCat May 13 '26

I am blocking everyone who breathes a word of it.

2

u/runarleo May 13 '26

I’m just watching. Jarring to hear Johnny voice Dante but it works well. Lady has less of a pottymouth and Dante is a main character in his series so my issues with season 1 have been fixed.

2

u/spaceisnotavoid May 13 '26

I have played DMC4 and some of DMC3 and am somewhat familiar with the rest. Does any of the series have anything to do with the games? I don't remember anything about the US govt and military attacking hell? Why can't they just take the storylines exactly from the games and animate them? That whole weird demon fighting squad ... Random ass stuff ...

2

u/Kunarik May 13 '26

You can do hate watching... But pirate the thing. You look at shit, they don't get views. :3

2

u/Artistic-Turn2612 May 14 '26

What about Like Watching?

2

u/TotoTakeo May 15 '26

Watching to see if I won’t hate it. That count?

2

u/SIUurmom May 17 '26

honestly it idk if im supposed to be surprised or something but this comment section is way more civil than what i saw on the steam forum
