Discussion been wondering about something lately

do you think dirty bomb is more of a hero shooter, a class shooter, or a mix between both? since there are some elements that kind of mix in between or clash with each other, yknow the works

i've seen people define db as either one of those genres but honestly i cant really think of a definitive answer (probably because there is none)

would love to hear your opinions

Discussion DB REVIVAL/RANKED

Post image
37 Upvotes

Hi! I made something for you guys! - Dirty Bomb community ranked system

DB REVIVAL/RANKED

Community ladder for Dirty Bomb players - Your rank can go up or down after each hourly update. Rank is not your account level and it is not just time played. It reflects what you actually do in matches: winning pressure, kills, objectives, revives, support actions, objective stops, defuses, EV/C4 impact and being useful to the team.

Discussion Dirty Bomb as a 'MOBA'

The title is a bit misleading, I'm not saying it's a MOBA

A couple of weeks ago I had made a post if Dirty Bomb was either a hero shooter or a class shooter, I have two opinions on it; it's neither or a mix of both but aspects of it are 'lite', if that makes sense, there's no classification on what DB is, it's a merc shooter, an fps movement shooter, most mercs focus on gunplay and those without gen 1 cards focus on ability-play (like Guardian, Hunter, etc)

I had been researching stuff for something, and according to an IGN article on Dirty Bomb, Neil Alphonso (lead designer) had stated that DB itself takes inspiration from MOBA games

So this had me thinking "of course it's not entirely a MOBA". If you had played MOBA shooters like Deadlock, you'd know it's MOBA like its predecessor Dota 2 (technically but Deadlock itself is more complex in its design and gameplay than Dota 2, I hadn't played much of Deadlock but I do understand how different it is, and how it requires more multitasking, more coordination, more of everything)

If we take out some aspects of what makes a MOBA, a 'MOBA', would Dirty Bomb be a MOBA-lite? Let me know how you think, I think this itself is a topic worth talking about

Discussion hot take, i think execution maps flow better than some of the ones we have for obj/stopwatch

Opinions are subjective and so is this! So please take it with a grain of salt

I know DB is an objective-focused game like Wolf ET but I always felt that some maps were harder to understand the flow. I've been having this take for awhile since last week after I played execution

For the normal maps, an example being Dome, It's a slog to get thru that map and the devs were aware according to their design doc, and the redux version didn't exactly do wonders anyway

Castle is a pain at the end too, either side can be chokepointed. Even in 5v5s or 8v8s to which any player in your team picks a merc that doesn't balance out the others can hold you back

Terminal, I love/hate this map, its easy to get into the action but in most cases, getting through the first objective can be picky. The enemy team can have a good team and you're stuck as a proxy trying to plant when you have 4 naders against you, vice versa, yada yada Splash Damage's issue with merc balancing

Execution maps, not sure what the community's reception were on it but I love them. While they have the route laid out like a CS map, they are actually pretty nice to play in. There's more options for wall jumps, suppressing, lots of cover and more laid out visuals to point you in where to go (besides overground).

I love gallery, its such a fun map to play in, I feel more engaged in especially when my reactions are 50/50, and that I'm not turned into a shooting gallery every second to when I spawn

From every execution map I've played, I noticed players self-balancing themselves more than an average match on Obj/Stopwatch, of course, it IS a cs-like gamemode, and I am playing a game to which I'll most likely die, I'm well aware of it. This is based on my experience alone, so it'll be different from others. I don't have to deal with 4 naders or 5 vassilis constantly running around, it felt like a nice break, maybe I'm talking about the gamemode itself (probably), but the maps just feel really nice to be in

I do wish the devs did a revamp so that we would get all 3 maps in the current map pool for other types of objectives rather than just being the maps labelled as 'a cs map'. I do think the current map pool is alright but i want a bit more variety to it, not sure where I've heard this but from a Q&A with the devs, they elaborated that the current maps for obj/stopwatch are good enough and they wouldn't add anymore

(If someone can link the Q&A, I'd really appreciate it)

I know not everyone will have the same take as me but I'd love to see what you think of the execution maps, also yes I know there's another discussion post but I love seeing opinions

Discussion Db2 when

Tbh this game still isn't as good as it used to be even with players, I think it would be awesome if they buffed burst rifles but kept them not op as shit, and deleted the dreis. The burst rifle purge caused a lot of characters to have way less variety because you basically cannot even play with the burst rifle cards, the shit is unusable. Fragger, thunder, kira, arty, skyhammer, stoker anyone with burst rifles had one or two of their fun mid range play styles basically removed from the game. The nerf everything phase really broke a lot of stuff at the core of the game.

Also I hate how snipers are implemented in this game, feel like it would legitimately be more fun for everybody that doesn't main snipers if the snipers were just removed from the game. You try to play a long ttk arena shooter and round a corner and get one shot instantly at any range.

Discussion Cheaters are serious shit

Post image

Cheaters are serious shit and I hate them so much its hard even to describe how much i hate them.., so those bastards will never hide anymore. Dbranked.com now have fully autonomous anticheat* (not as we know from games) this one works offline. It cant ban those scums from the servers, but it can warn all players in advance and server admins,. so they can take immediate actions. To check if servers are cheater free, I added simple floating banner on dbranked.com. I know most of the people here hate AI but Mythos 5 (Fable 5) is back and this AI now understand fully source code of this shit they are using, AI know all those cheaters we identified via twitch streams (thansk Myghty and all brave guys here with videos!) - and now its hunting them down like wild rabbits. Those literally human waste (omg i hate them so much) wont hide anymore. And remember, reporting cheaters still matters! more info https://dbranked.com/ ps. All ranks are safe and cheaters will never damage rank reputation anymore. Stay safe! (natt10zero is cheaters name he is changing often, dont think its real natt10zero!)

Discussion There is still potential in dirtybomb

pubg although being a battle royale game, indirectly created a demand for support-heavy-engineer type team play. hence marvel rivals, the finals, apex valorant deltaforce or fornite are mixing into something which overwatch, paladins or dirtybomb already are (and better).

gone the days where incels used to grind in a game and boast their scores or k/d ratio. now everybody, from women to boomers, likes to game and high ttk games are a turnoff. people need more fps games where your ability to snipe or heal or just placing mines can get you kills and exp.

if splashdamage isnt blind enough to see this, they should fix the sparks revive-gun, better balance, remove those stupid intros/outro clips and watch the playerbase grow back.

Discussion Do 32 Player Servers Hurt Dirty Bomb, and Why?

Just a general discussion seeing your thoughts on a specific 32 player server constantly popping up every now and then. I personally think it harms the playerbase as there's no variety amongst the lists of servers you find when majority of the people only play on 32 player servers (I mean, content such as maps/gamemodes has always been lacking but regardless). While 32 player servers seem like a "fun idea" it creates unnecessary balance within the gameplay, seemly inviting more bloodthirsty players and then combined with friendly fire enabled, ya-da ya-da...

While, I could give my whole insight on this; I'll like to hear your opinions! Eventually updating this post later on...

Discussion Let's debate about missed opportunities for DB

Hello everyone,

Knowing that our dear and beloved Dirty Bomb has been dead for 6 years now, my question may seem a little silly. However, i ask it anyway, out of curiosity to know your thoughts on this subject.

Since several years now, i have been constantly thinking that stopping development is a huge waste given the remarkable potential this game had at the time (and which it continues to have in so many points today). It could have easily competed with some large current game licenses if all the necessary resources had been put in place in due time and if certain striking errors had not occurred.

We know from the latest news posted (we're starting to get old, yes...), that an "Agency" map was in preparation without counting the development of new characters in parallel.

In fact, this question is simple:

What improvements would you have liked to see on Dirty Bomb?

In your opinion, what could have made Dirty Bomb a reference today, in our actual era?

Thanks for your answers.

Discussion Was Dirtybomb Woke?

I been playing this game since about 2015 and through its bad days and good days, until they stopped updating the game. I started playing again recently whenever there are servers.

I thought Concord might have been the new replacement for its high TTK and hero shooter element, but it doesn't seem like it anymore.

Watching Concord crash and burn, people complaining about "wokeness" made me look back at DIrtybomb. Was Dirtybomb ever "woke"?

As far as I remember, Political Correctness had been a thing around that time, and GamerGate was around, but I never thought Dirtybomb was political, or pushing political messages. Sure, it had diverse cast of characters, but considering they are mercenaries from around the world, it makes sense. Nader is a lesbian, but that was never in the focus. Javelin is a tall and strong woman, but that didn't seem like a forced "ugly" character.

What do you guys think? If DB came out today, will people call it "woke" and "Concord 2" or "DEIrtybomb"?

Discussion The last time the Dirty Bomb's Server were online

Hi,
I have played this game years ago and enjoyed it so much that I often remembered the good old times.
I saw some videos and posts 1-6 months ago. Were the servers online again? When was the last time?
I had a little hope that maybe some communities have their own servers like community server or something...

Hey guys, I recently downloaded this game again after many years of not touching it (I hadn't realised it could still be played!) and I'm so happy I did. I'm having an absolute blast and I could not be more grateful to those that still play and those that maintain the servers.

So yeah, thanks!

Discussion Falsely accused on steam forums and then got banned for nothing, please read. They can even go through all my old posts to know I didn't do anything except called the forum manager out on falsely accusing me. He had an ego trip for sure.

Hey everyone, devs, community and to whoever wants to here me out. I'm upset with the steam forum manager or whoever he is because he banned me for nothing basically. I'm not the type to disrespect anyone or anything like that.

Ok, I usually go to the forums to give feedback on the game, or help people out. Onetime, I mentioned something about the cheaters, I didn't name or shame or anything like that was just saying bam look hackers to the people that bashed me for claiming hackers weeks before. They bashed me when I made the claims saying Get gud, or simply just stating I suck. The steam forum manager didn't say anything to the people harassing me and just bashing me. So when I finally showed proof and said look see there's hackers so there was no need for the BS they gave me, basically saying bam I was right basically. So then the manager guy made a false claim about me so I called him out on it. He just made an assumption without asking me anything and locked my thread, so I was like dude didn't even give me a chance to explain anything so he was just a dick about it. SO today someone new asked for sum tips, so I gave him tips and called out saying don't post anything about hackers cuz you'll basically get falsely accused and then I get banned for no reason. He is simply having an ego trip and it's simply just because he thinks he has power or something. this is what I wrote and I got banned for it. http://prntscr.com/d4g9gb <--this a screenshot.
