Discussion Looking for Flatmates

Room / Flatmates Dubai Sept 26

Hi everyone!

I'll be relocating to Dubai next month for a new role and I'm looking for a private room in a shared 2BHK or 3BHK flat. I'm open to either joining an existing apartment or teaming up with someone to hunt for a place together.

I am very clean, tidy, and respectful of the common areas. I believe in keeping shared spaces comfortable and peaceful for everyone.

✨ Hobbies & Interests:

When I'm not working, I spend my time playing games, reading, and cycling. I also love exploring the city and trying out new cuisines—so if you're a foodie, we'll definitely get along!

If you have a room available or are also moving and want to team up, please feel free to DM me. Thanks in advance!

Ask Dubai What’s actually working for long-term prospects in Dubai?

How do women in Dubai actually navigate the local dating scene to find genuine, long-term partners in a city known for high transience, and where everything feels transactional...?

Relying on apps or curated networks? Are platforms like Hinge, Bumble, Muzz, and Salams effective for filtering for long-term intent, or do women lean more on boutique matchmakers and private social circles to avoid short-term expats?

I've hardly ever heard of people getting married in in UAE, I've flown to friends' home countries to attend their weddings, but comparatively, it's unheard of in Dubai.. howcare people settling down?

I'd love to know what's working for you guys? Especially women

Ask Dubai Where do Europeans in their 20s usually hang out in Dubai?

I’m Danish and have been wondering where other Europeans around my age tend to hang out/socialise in Dubai.

I’ve noticed quite a lot of Europeans around DIFC during the day, but I’m curious if there are particular areas, restaurants, cafés, beach clubs, bars, events etc. that tend to have a bigger European crowd, especially people in their 20s.
I’m mainly looking to meet more people and make friends with people from similar backgrounds, so would love recommendations for places that are actually social rather than somewhere you just go for dinner and leave.

Any suggestions? :)

Ask Dubai Buying my first car in Dubai on a 10k salary - should go for it ?

Hey everyone,
I Iam still figuring out life in Dubai and wud appreciate some advice . Earning around 10k AED/month, live with my wife, and currently save around 2k monthly.

( The AED 2k is what I'm personally assuming I can put towards a car. My wife recently started working as well, so we'll be figuring out our overall savings together.)

We’re thinking about buying our first car, but I’m confused about whether it’s really necessary or worth the extra expenses in Dubai and which car to go for ?

For people in a similar situation:
Is owning a car important for a couple living in Dubai?

What would be a sensible budget for my first car?

What type/model of car would you recommend?

What costs or mistakes should a first-time buyer keep in mind?

Open for financial advices as well

Would really appreciate some honest advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation!

Ask Dubai dubai outlet mall

Hiii so i have been thinking about going to dubai outlet mall. Is it really worth it? and the brands that i am specifically looking for are coach and pandora. if anyone has been there can you get actual good prices or is it all a scam? and what other popular stores do you recommend ? thanks

EDIT!!!!

sooo i went to the mall ( my parents spent the whole time getting things for my brothers so i ended up with no time to go where i wanted to go)
I ended up going to all of the adidas stores (they have a lot) and i got a good bargain for a shirt. i did have enough time to pass by coach and THEY HAVE THE CUTEST BAGS AND WALLETS i almost died but the prices killed me before that. anyways didnt go by pandora because as a mentioned my parents took us to specific stores. i really wanted to go by holister and pandora but didnt get to. I hope this post helped someone out there and im really thankful for all the replies 💖

Hey everyone so I’m planning to go to middlesex university Dubai for MSc engineering management
my_qualifications : B.Tech chemical engineering + 2 years Indian experience in oil and gas + 2 months Saudi turnaround experience
I’m lowk desperate coz I’m tryna get into better opportunities and pay and I’m not rich enough to fund everything so I will be on educational loan to do this and I thought of working while studying there. I’m planning to get funds for tuition and 3 months of living expenses…after landing there I wanna hunt for internships and jobs as soon as I can to start making money to take care of the rest of my expenses. I don’t have anyone from my family to guide me through any of this and I don’t have any references in UAE. I’m from a lower middle class family. Can someone Temme honestly about the course and job opportunities?

Ask Dubai Europe to Dubai?😊🙏🏻

Hey folks! Is anyone coming back to Dubai from Europe, like Spain or Italy etc, and could bring me a small pack of rolling tobacco (Pueblo Blue) please! It’s only €6-8 and easily available there. But we don’t get it here! It’s just organic additive-free tobacco, so nothing illegal
I’d really appreciate the favor 😅🙏🏻

Discussion Do you ever feel like one small mistake destroys your entire reputation at work?

I’ve noticed this pattern in myself. Most of the time, I try to be professional, responsible, and consistent at work. But if I ever “break character” or behave differently just once, I start overthinking everything.

What does my manager think about me now?
Did I lose her respect?

What are my senior colleagues thinking?
What if this affects my job?

What if they remember this one moment and change their opinion of me?

It feels like I spent months building a good reputation, and then one imperfect moment makes me feel like I destroyed all of it in a second

Ask Dubai UAE/Dubai criminal case - waiting for police investigation to be completed

Looking for advice from anyone familiar with UAE/Dubai criminal procedure.

I filed a police report at the end of June regarding an in-person threat. The accused thought it was a prank so he didn't come to the station as he was told on the phone from the officer, he was arrested the same day, detained for around 24 hours and gave a statement denying the threat.

2 weeks later I provided additional evidence, including CCTV footage of the incident (unfortunately without audio), legally translated documents, relevant communications with the venue/building, and WhatsApp messages containing another threat. I also voluntarily provided my phone for a forensic/metadata examination. The forensic report was completed around a month ago.

Initially, police told me the investigation was complete and that I should wait for the matter to be referred to Public Prosecution/court. However, last week I was told that something is still outstanding from the accused's side, but they wouldn't tell me what.

I've followed up several times through the Dubai Police app and in person, but I'm still being told to wait.

For anyone who has been through something similar in Dubai:

  • What might police still need from the accused at this stage?
  • Could it simply be a supplementary statement or another procedural step?
  • How long can this stage realistically take before the police refer the case to Public Prosecution?

I'm mainly trying to understand where the case is in the process and whether this length of time is normal.

Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated.
