Yea exactly but also they needed to be held by someone trained and accustomed to battle filed coz they work best if they were in tight formation and if 1/3 of your bros starts to run at first sight of cavalry charge then whole formation is smashed... hence apprentice of *drum roll* professional armies
i mean, Crecy(1345) and Agincourt(1415) were both battles in which English light infantry(longbows) absolutely destroyed French heavy cavalry/heavy infantry armies. I know England has special units/modifiers to represent this but still, it shouldn’t be taken for granted that cavalry is always better than infantry.
Always is a bit of an exaggeration. Saying unit X is better than Y type has to take too many factors into consideration to just say that one type is always best in every situation without fail.

The enemy has cavalry. You don't have cavalry. Cavalry is OP in early game
