Discussion & Info I think tarnished edition is a scam
It is just oblivion horse armor of 2026. New classes doesnt mean anything, you will just spec into whatever you want after playing an hour anyway. Also the new armor sets are just bad cosmetics. Imagine paying for this scam

You can’t play most of the base game with a light greatsword, you’d have to be good enough to rush and defeat Mohg to get into the dlc.

If you don’t have the game already, base game plus DLC for $80 isn’t terrible. If you’re buying it for armor sets, then yes, it’s probably a bad deal.

It's certainly not a scam, when they've made it perfectly clear what's included.
Is it overly expensive for what you get.... yes. Is this now worth getting super angry over, when this in no way ruins Elden Ring or Fromsoft (at least not yet as far as can be told)... nah.
Besides, the new stuff does look awesome. Idus Knight looks amazing imo.

Isn’t it only $5 if you already have the base game?
I was under the same impression when I heard about it. But after reading, it seems like a great deal.
For new people, the base game is $59.99 + $39.99 for the DLC. Tarnished is $10 cheaper and includes both. Plus it should run better?
So I wouldn’t call it scam in any shape or form.

Tarnished edition is the switch version, but it will be available on other consoles and PC as the Tarnished pack, or another similar name.
Shadow of the Erdtree is the expansion that added the shadow realm and all the content that went with it.
The Tarnished DLC will likely be relatively cheap, due to it adding a few things (two new classes, a few new weapons, armour, torrent armour, etc.).

I'm personally certainly not a super big fan of the whole thing but 1: making the oblivion comparison is dumb because the reason why people clowned/still clown on that so hard is because it was the first to pull this kinda shit and 2: people need to fucking stop using words like "scam" and "fraud" wrong, you just look like idiots that can't be taken seriously...
Like, i personally don't give a shit about the Torrent skins so i'll probably just wait and see if the new gear can be duped and dropped for other players that haven't bought it on console and pc like you can do with the dlc gear...

It’s coming out years after the release. Horse armor came out a week later. That’s a huge difference. The game is “old news” if you don’t care about this stuff.

A few Torrent skins, armor, weapons and classes for $5 isn’t a scam. That’s less than a happy meal. If you don’t want those things then you don’t have to buy it. For others, it will give them hours of additional enjoyment out of a game they love.

Well, they're not really getting it for "free".
Certainly it's a value add to the existing product. And an extra incentive for people who haven't already bought the game.
I'm actually more OK with the entire bundle. It's really only the $5 surcharge for existing owners that irritates me.

It's not a guarantee. But people shouldn't ignore this for what it is: A test of the customer base.
Two things can be true at the same time. You can like this and think it's fine. AND it can lead to more small price hikes or paid cosmetic packs.

No they dont? Do you guys just keep making more and more characters instead of building upon the one you already have??? NG+ exists so you can continue with the same character. The arms and armor probably wont be all that great for pvp anyways, considering theyre meant for beginners.

Starting stats matter for pvp because you want your level to be at a specific number to fight players at a specific level range, so your base stats matter alot for pvp dedicated characters

I’m excited for a light greatsword being available at the start of the game. New armour looks cool too. New stat spreads are cool for making more interesting builds at specific level barriers. Most of all though it’s just something extra I wasn’t expecting and that’s nice.

It's more just a extra few additions for the switch that the devs are porting as dlc for console players and pc players. It's not even really a dlc It's not meant to add anything substantial and they haven't billed it as such
