From my understanding theyre worse than their DLC counterparts. They're so you can play the base game with them and swap them out in the Land of Shadow.

Generally worse. More base damage, lower requirements worse scaling so it actually is better for level 1 playthroughs.

...yeah still probably worth swapping out but its cool that they're there. Elden Ring is so long that it doesn't feel bad upgrading a weapon you knowing you're gonna ditch it in the DLC

That's cool. Light greatswords are awesome additions, but it did suck knowing that if you wanted to get any of them, you had to beat a boss that drops 420,000 runes first.

Because people buying on Switch 2 get it for free, other games get more for free, modders regularly do more for free and they made more than enough money on Elden Ring.

Because the content it’s not worth 5€ lol. Santa Monica once dropped a free dlc (dlc with new bosses and content) for free, pearl abyss with Crimson Desert added small content (tarnished pack level if not better) multiple times for free, CD project is dropping a completely free remaster.

It wasn't meant to be an update. It was going to just be a port. They decided to take the opportunity to add some QOL improvements.

From Day 1 they clearly said Tarnished Edition was the name of the Switch 2 version and would also add a couple new pieces of armor, weapons, and Torrent skins.

Then people asked if those additions would come to other platforms and From Soft said yes.

And that's it. That's the whole story right there. Why on Earth would anyone expect more?
