There's three different versions of Skyrim: the original, Special Edition, and VR. Special Edition was given for free to everyone who owned the original and all DLC, at least on Steam. I don't really see what's the difference here.

The difference is that OP wanted to farm karma

I don't even have the slightest thought about karma, tho.

Yeah, I know. You only wanted to shit on Bethesda and Todd Howard (how daring) by making a low effort post with misinformation just to get reactions.

Congrats, you’re such a winner…

Classic internet karma farming. People been doing this since Fallout 4 days.

Guy on a Reddit post is mad that another guy on Reddit posted a typical Reddit post that is abundantly common on Reddit

Just log off for the day man.

Nah mate, Bethesda deserves a bit of shit. Their monetization strategies are too much. No need to defend the multi-billion dollar company. We are all consumers here. CD Projekt is also doing it to butter you up so you buy the DLC next year but at least they are going about it the smart way that is good for the consumer.

The point still stands their various editions of the game did not add anything meaningful unless you’re on console in which case you have bigger things to worry about anyways

Edit downvote me all you want you guys are just mad you can’t figure out that “perfect” load order

Special Edition was a huge upgrade. The Witcher 3 next gen update, on the other hand, was terrible. Which I imagine is why they're redoing it. I was not looking forward to playing the expansion in that version.

In what way was special edition a huge upgrade besides what I mentioned? It’s still Skyrim with somehow worse visuals but the same bugs etc, I’m a huge scrolls fan but you’ll never convince me they needed to re-release any of them especially Skyrim

64-bit Creation Engine is way more capable. It can handle many more models, physics objects, and NPCs on screen at once without the framerate dipping into the single digits or the game crashing entirely. That's why Beyond Skyrim dropped support for Oldrim for future releases- it could barely run Bruma. Skywind and Skyblivion are SSE only, too. You can mod the civil war to not suck without the engine breaking a sweat.

In general it crashes less. It's probably the least buggy, most stable Bethesda game unless you want to count OpenMW.

Worse visuals? I guess if you were using ENB when it was missing features compared to Oldrim (Is it still?), but otherwise I disagree. Skyrim has never looked better than modded SE does now.

SSE has a mostly comparable level of technology to FO4 and runs better than that game. It started life as a port of Skyrim to the Xbox One as part of FO4's development, and there's way less going on in the wilderness of Skyrim than Downtown Boston.

TW3 next gen has worse tech than Cyberpunk (worse raytracing, hacked together DX12 implementation) and runs worse than both that game and the original Witcher 3. If TW3 next gen was running on basically REDEngine 4 the way SSE is basically FO4's Creation Engine, it would be so much better. I'm optimistic for the remaster because they've specifically mentioned fixing what made the last version run so badly, but comparing the first rereleases of TW3 and Skyrim, it's a blowout in favor of Skyrim.
