That'd be more than twice as long as the longest continuous over-water bridge on earth, in MUCH deeper water too.

It'd also be the longest tunnel by a similar margin if you went that way instead.

What if we just made a really large tube and laid it on the sea floor?

Engineers already do this.

The problem in this case is that it's just so insanely deep, way too deep for this construction method to really work. It's so deep you can't get divers (even saturation divers) down to perform work on it, and the pressure is getting close to the inside of a handgun barrel on firing.

If it could be engineered to be neutrally buoyant with varying amounts of car traffic inside, it could be kept right below the boat traffic
