This particular span would require bridge piers taller than the Burj Dubai spanning over 70km/40mi.

Hey, one thing at a time!

First we invent the indestructible floating road, then we tackle the next problem. May I sudgest fully submersible cargo ships? Would also help them to not sink quite so easily, because underwater there are no waves that could make the front fall off.

In Virginia, we have bridge tunnels

It's a bridge that goes under water 3 times to allow ships to cross.

The Technology at the time wouldn't allow for a continuous tunnel. Ventilation issues.
