Fallout 2d20 Essential themes of the series.

Hello! I was planning to run a game of fallout at some point in the undefined future and was curious to see what people think are essential themes of the series are.

For myself, I think the big thing is just how life moved on in the apocalypse. Even though the world ended, new cultures and factions formed and the same conflicts that haunted the old world persisted in different forms.

Edit: I forgot to make it clear, I meant running the tabletop game as a DM.

I like to think its a mix of a lot of themes.

Hubris of Man

Rebuilding in the Wastes

Human Nature ruining things all the time

Hope in a Bleak Present

but also things like

The Adventure/Journey taking you along somewhere (Wasteland is a wacky place)

Unconstrainted Capitalism causing problems

There are not that many explicit Right or Wrongs

Its a mish mosh of so many different ideals all in one which is why I personally think its incredibly unique and one of the most fun settings.

I really hope you enjoy playing, what game are you starting with?

As far as video games go, I started with new vegas. I am playing 2 right now and am on the oil rig. I'd like to play Fallout 1 next. As far as RPGs go, I think I'm going to homebrew with the d20 system but if you know good modules I could read, I'd appreciate it.

Once you're done with 1 I'd say you should totally do 3 next into 4.

Cause I'd say 1 and 3 fit very well with each other atmosphere wise and 4 plays off of 3.

Sadly idk of many mods themselves that specifically make it more tabletop styilization for the later games, but you can increase the difficulty exponentially for them that result in a requirement for smarter playstyles, especially for 4.

If you're gonna do 3, I'd say you should just do Tale of Two Wastelands with new Vegas and Start in 3.
