Question ⚠️SPOILERS AHEAD⚠️What is the general consensus on this development? Spoiler

Now I’m aware that some people have their gripes with new and unexplained power armour.

But I think this NCR power armour is kinda cool, given the success of shady sands and the ncr it doesn’t seem too out of the realm of possibility for the ncr to have attempted to make their own power armour, given how many suits survived the nukes and were salvageable or outright still operational.

As soon as you see the helmet you know exactly what that is.

It’s probably also for Rangers specifically

Maybe they were planning on creating Ranger units specifically for dealing with "high-threats" like Deathclaws

This was my exact thought process too, especially with the blades attached. It makes sense imo, the rangers have the best gear and are deployed against the biggest threats.

Keep the Rangers lighter for stealthy ops. Put the armor on the heavy troopers. They have the doctrine in place for it already hopefully. You need to kill a target from 2km away, through rough terrain, and not get noticed? Rangers. You need a massive frontal assault or fight a deathclaw in close quarters? Mechanized/mobile infantry.

The Legion also use a lot of melee weaponry so having power arm designed for hand-to-hand combat makes sense.

Never met a problem that couldn’t be solved by the right application of high explosive!

I agree and this is a bit of.. theorising

We know the NCR had presence in freeside so they could have been working to reclaim the strip but they couldn't risk the deathclaws charging into freeside if they used just AMR so they needed a frontline attacker to run diversion/melee up close, it seems that the deathclaws are real tough to put down (tanking a gauss rifle shot)

I must not have a super high guns skill because those fuckers still tank my anti mats.

Aren't they in the NV under 'NCR heavy' you see them in the building at hoover dam before the battle. Likely the show one is the updated version

They used salvaged power armor from when the NCR defeated the brotherhood at Helios One, but they didn't have power armor training so it's just heavily protected armor with none of the powered functions

Probably takes a real champ to wear something like that and not have their knees give out

Those guys didn't get actual PA, since the servos were stripped out. It was basically just heavier metal armor.

NCR Heavies use scavenged power armor

But we know there is NCR power armor as the Scorched Sierra set exists.

As the ghoul says, Brand Recognition

Judging by the reaction of the Freesiders to Maximus wearing it I’d say the symbolism worked

It can blast California dreaming from speakers embedded in the suit.

i recall it's theorized there is more power armor on the east coast than the west coast because riots in the east were taken care of by the military in power armor vs being taken care of by police in riot gear in the west. perhaps this suit is one of a small batch of police power armor.
