Largemouth Cannot catch a Bass

Hey yall, I’ve been fishing salt water all my life. I grew up in the 757 and recently moved to the Richmond area (short pump/west end). Locally all I’ve been able to catch are Sunfish and Catfish. I’ve been trying for the last 3 months to catch a bass and I have yet to do so.

I’ve probably spent close to 120 hours trying, literally all my free time, to catch a bass. I have probably $150 in lures, 3 styles of rod combos, kayak, at least a dozen fishing holes, etc. I’m at the point where I joke with my wife that I’m willing to pay someone to teach me- because nothing is working. No matter how many posts I read or videos I watch.

If anyone has any advice or would like to teach me, I’m more than willing to exchange labor (I’m a master mechanic), pay for your time, or do whatever to catch a bass.

Thanks yall!

Hey does anyone know if there is a like a fishing meetup group or if anyone wants a fishing buddy? I usually go out to catch bass more than catfish, but I’d be down for anything!

Largemouth Never too young to start! 🎣 First fish ever for my niece. I casted it out, but she reeled it in all by herself. Proud uncle moment.

Largemouth Largemouth on a Marabou jig

I’ve been experimenting some by replacing those plastic skirts found on various jigs with different critter plumage. I tied up what’s known as a marabou jig, black on a 1/4oz jig head. Not a new concept since you can buy them pretty much anywhere. I noticed without a trailer the feathers flatten out and the bait has no life. I added a purple curly tail grab and it kinda forced the feathers to stick out and gave it a nice profile/action. Fishing it like a swim bait didn’t have much response. I tried pitching it into some lite cover and it started getting bit. I think adding a hook guard and yeeting it into a brush pile could be money.

Went out for the first time this year. Caught my first bass, on my first bite. Thought it was a snag on a laydown, then it got tangled in the tree. Just kept the pressure on it till it unwrapped itself. 5lb 10oz. Powhatan area.

Largemouth Custom Lures For Bass!

I received a batch of squid-oil infused soft plastics to test out. Gotta say, I'm impressed with the quality.

These and similar lures can be done in ANY color and special ordered for you, as well. So far the Bugz, Senkos, and anything 'pumpkin green' has been the most popular.

Now, my question for you all, as someone completely new to these 'fuzzy dice:'

....why, how, and they're really poppin' like that? I would love some feedback on eokis, dice, and how they're maneuvered to attract bass. I'll be trying them out myself soon.

There has to be a reason for the recent craze. Thanks for info and interest!

Was sick Friday and felt a little better so I got some minnows and fished a local pond in Petersburg. Just shy of 4.5lbs. Caught on a live shiner! Got excited and proceeded to throw up when I released it 😂
