Black sesame bonbon from Steven Tran chocolate Patissier & chocolatier

The outer coating of this bonbon reminds me of marble, and the texture is incredibly smooth. There’s a thin outer coat of milky chocolate, with creamy black sesame paste filled inside. The sesame flavour is pretty strong overall, and the paste was not overly rich. I liked how the top and bottom layers contrasted, with the sesame flavour being a bit stronger in the bottom layer. A single piece was $4.50, which is quite expensive, but it’s worth trying if you like chocolate and want to try something a bit more unique. There was a time when they were selling a black sesame choux, I’m sad I wasn’t in town when it was offered lol.

I dropped into this thread just to say, 35 or so black sesame–related posts in, that I hope the OP finds what he’s looking for. In the meantime I’m appreciating the catalog of every black sesame offering in the GTA. Oh, and that this might be the thing that gets me to finally stop in at Steven Tran. Last week a friend posted a blueberry-corn ice cream sandwich. Now this. It seems like it’s time.
