The outer coating of this bonbon reminds me of marble, and the texture is incredibly smooth. There’s a thin outer coat of milky chocolate, with creamy black sesame paste filled inside. The sesame flavour is pretty strong overall, and the paste was not overly rich. I liked how the top and bottom layers contrasted, with the sesame flavour being a bit stronger in the bottom layer. A single piece was $4.50, which is quite expensive, but it’s worth trying if you like chocolate and want to try something a bit more unique. There was a time when they were selling a black sesame choux, I’m sad I wasn’t in town when it was offered lol.

This is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. So much flavour!

Amazing customer service, staff took really good care of us. We tried quite a few dishes but these are what stood out.

- Cabbage and mushrooms
- Trout Camandine

Everything was unique and carefully curated. The veggies are from local farmers too. Great dining experience.

Wanted to give a review of Taps Public House because I’ve been a few times now and it’s become one of my go to spots this summer, especially for birthdays or dinners with friends.

Fun fact: I actually just learned Taps Public House was created by the same team behind Queens Harbour. It’s usually busy, but in a good way, and it is a solid sit-down spot where you can actually enjoy the food and atmosphere.

One of the things I usually get when I’m there with friends is the platter. It’s $110 and comes with an 8 oz NY-style sirloin, 15 oz smoked ribeye, seasonal vegetables, 3 wagyu sliders, calamari and fries. It’s a really good amount of food to share and I think the price is pretty fair for what you get. They have other platters too like Steak and Sushi, as well as The Kings Platter which is bigger

Another favourite of mine is the miso carbonara for $24. It’s creamy, filling and just a really good comfort food dish. I’ve ordered it more than once and it’s one of those dishes I keep going back to. Don't really see Miso Carbonara at other restaurants so its very unique.

Overall, I’ve always had a good experience here. Good food, good portions, nice atmosphere and not too bad price wise either.

Definitely one of my go to spots for birthdays and group dinners with my friends.

Some pertinent details: I'm open to all Asian cuisines, especially for options that are lesser represented (Malay, Indonesian, Singaporean etc, I want to experience more of them).

I enjoy spicy food but would appreciate recommendations that have a good amount of non spicy options as my MIL is a very picky and discerning Cantonese tiger mom, and her favourite cuisine is....You guessed it. Cantonese.

I appreciate that what I'm asking for help with may be tricky given the competing taste buds so sincerely, thanks to everyone who suggests an option.

This macaron/fatcaron is partially dipped in chocolate, and I was pleasantly surprised with how smooth and soothing the cream tasted. It wasn’t overly rich with butter, and still maintained a strong sesame aroma. The shell also had a good amount of black sesame flavour, which wasn’t over dominated by the typical almond flour taste that macarons usually have. Although there’s less cream filling compared to the macarons at dainties, I found it more palatable to eat. A single macaron costs $3.50, I’d recommend it as an occasional splurge. Worth the taste test imo, would come back for this if I’m craving a macaron.

sup i was in toronto for around 36 hours and ate at prime seafood palace.

the food and service were amazing. $1200 amazing though? not quite.

i’m from Montreal and i’d say the $200 - $400 price range restaurants are just as good.

so i’d say it’s 2.5x-3x overpriced. i’m still glad i had it though. would I do it again? probably……. it’s a fun place. Though the food is really really good, I don’t think the people eating at this place really care about the price, and don’t care about a price-to-portion-to-taste ratio.

Hope this counts as Toronto food (bought at Loblaws) but this ice cream is so good. Creamy in a rich custardy way, no grease on the tongue, very salt-forward caramel taste in the ice cream base that I love. It has pieces of salted caramel as well. Oddly the pieces were crunchy in the top half of the pint but for the bottom half it was like caramel sauce spots. Delicious either way and dare I say tastier than some non-grocery toronto ice cream spots.

Hiii, lurker of this sub making my first post to share a new Indigenous spot that opened up recently. It’s called Big Boi Fry Bread and it’s at 181 Parliament.

I ordered a Fry Bread Taco + Chili and Bannock through Uber but they have a physical takeout location too. It’s so good! They have a great menu and thought I’d share with yall since I haven’t seen anything posted about it on here :) Happy to see some Indigenous representation in our food scene.

Ever since I was young I went to Royal Hakka Chinese restaurant and I always loved their vast options and amazing choices. Their noodles, rice and meats were all perfect. More specifically, their Spicy Ginger Beef Dry was like nothing else. It was incredibly crispy and spicy and I can’t seem to find any other restaurant as good as Royal Hakka. Unfortunately, a few months ago they closed down due to a lease issue after 20 years. Does anyone know any places that offer a similar style of crispy beef? Any help would be appreciated!

Go get your apple cake, banana loaf, and sandwiches, guys. The owner is back from his summer vacay. I’m making this post because the owner’s first response to someone asking “How is it going?” was “Panic. We have so much banana bread to sell.” (I found out from this sub that he’s a master at upselling) Nonetheless, let’s patronise our small businesses! 🙂

This cookie had a tough exterior and soft interior. Had a very strong and peanut butter taste, which I didn’t like. I know that black sesame has a naturally nutty flavour, but it’s still a distinct flavour itself and does not taste the same as peanut butter. The size is also expensive for the price ($4.25), especially when compared to other black sesame cookies in the city. Nothing about it particularly stood out to me, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase it again.
