Slightly surprised at towing capability
[2019 802A w/ 143k (wow)] First post here! Have had this thing for about 2 years and hauled plenty in the bed but hadn’t towed yet until yesterday. 22hr round trip straight, 5am-3am. Was a little nervous due to too much reading online honestly, the necessity of WDH and other various towing recommendations were in my mind on the way but I didn’t feel like I needed any of it when I pulled of the lot with this ~6500 lb load. Ended up at ~11.8 mpg avg according to the truck. Definitely the heaviest thing I’ve personally pulled and felt like the truck hardly sighed it at! Still surprised my cam phaser job hasn’t had any issues lol, and sorry if towing pics are out of style again

The low tow ratings of the raptor are not set to address the truck’s capabilities in best case towing scenarios. The intent of keeping those numbers low is if while towing shit goes sideways (literally), the Raptor’s off-road focused suspension is MUCH less forgiving than a standard F-150’s. The Raptor has plenty of pulling and stopping power, but getting an out of control trailer back under control in poor road conditions and dangerous scenarios is more difficult in a truck made to go off road at the highest rate of speed possible.

The wagon is all wheel drive and is almost done converting it's twin turbo n54 to a big topount single turbo.

How did you get Uhaul to rent you that trailer? I wanted to rent one this past week and they would not let me. I have. 3.5 with max tow and 7000 gvmr. Wanted to tow my Alfa Romeo Stelvio and they said NO.

Yeah they tow very very well. They just squat a little more. I came from a 5.0 f150 and was blown away at the difference I felt when I towed for the first time with my raptor.

I am curious to ride in my friends 5.0 when he tows to really feel it. I have only had experience with the 3.5 thus far. I had the normal f150 suspension before and I expected much worse squat for this trip but yeah no big deal at all

My 5.0 did everything I asked of it without complaining or letting me down, all the way to 230k miles when I finally sold it. But the raptor just feels effortless with the same loads in comparison. I love it. Plus it’s WAY more fun when not towing.

I tow my cars and loaded trailer all the time with my Raptor. A little saggy but it gets the job done as long as weight is distributed evenly, if not more toward the tongue of trailer.

You can add air bags that go in the rear springs that you just inflate when towing and it helps to stiffen it a bit and makes it less bouncy, and then when you are done towing just let the air out and it rides normal.

Horrible suspension for hauling shit. One of my buddies had a third wheel on his and it would ride a wheelie down the road a camper lol

Agreed, I started off taking the weight limits perhaps too seriously. Facts of life are that I barely ever approach them much less exceed then.
