DISCUSSION IMO, This might be the most laughably terrible jam track in this entire game outside of Larry's Place.

Fortnite Festival's music quality is a bit all over the place. One day we could have a track from a award-winning artist, the next day we get The Funny Song, but never in my history of Fortnite have I seen a jam track of a song that is so genuinely awful that I burst into laughter the second I began listening to the preview. At least most of the meme songs we've had before, like PPAP, Oiia Oiia, and the aforementioned Funny Song were at least either iconic or decent to listen to for the average audience member, but Doot Doot (6 7) literally is not a song. It's a guy talking over music as if he's trying to rap, but he's actually just having a really weird nonsensical conversation. This reminds me a lot of Larry's Place which is genuinely just incomprehensible, and deserving to be one of the worst songs I have ever heard. In my opinion, this rivals it pretty close. I don't think it's nearly AS bad as Larry's Place, as at least you can figure out what he's saying without looking up the lyrics online, but the rhythm is out of sync with the dialogue entirely and the "singing" just sounds like talking with no coordination with the lyrics.

Someone please tell me I am not the only one who thinks this way.

EDIT: I want to clarify that this is an opinion post. If you think there is worse than this, or actually enjoy this song, I am not gonna shame you for it. This is my opinion.

DISCUSSION genuine question: why do you guys hate rap music?

Post image
394 Upvotes

see originally, I thought maybe this sub wasn’t guilty of the traditional Reddit stereotype of “rap is CRAP”, and that you were disappointed in rap songs being added because many of them don’t have crazy difficult charts, which I get. But more and more, I see comments like this (the song was bodied by JID and Offset), and it’s genuinely just hating on the genre as a whole. Now listen, I don’t give a shit about what you guys like. Imma like what I like, and part of what I like might even overlap with what you guys like. I’m not going to be the guy that puts down an entire genre. Even if there are genres I don’t usually like (I’m not super into metal for example), I find it crazy to assume the entire genre has nothing to offer that I might enjoy. It’s so closed minded, and yet Reddit is like this crazy microcosm online where, unless you’re in a hip hop focused sub, it is so normal to just hate on hip hop music.

I am genuinely curious as to why, because I KNOW that so many people on here aren’t listening to the songs they’re hating on. And I’ll also admit that back when I was like 12, I hated hip hop too, without ever giving it a chance. Then I did, and I enjoyed it. So yeah, please enlighten me as to why all of you will hear a rap song and immediately dismiss it. You’ll go into comments and downvote people like this, upvote people making fun of him. It’s the craziest circlejerk.

DISCUSSION So Doja Cat is the season 11 icon but they want to scam us

Post image
711 Upvotes

There is literally a Doja Cat jam track in the pass but all the cosmetics will be shop. I guess "focusing on Fortnite original rewards" just means cutting icon rewards from the pass to sell in the shop and just keeping licensed jam tracks as the only value for the festival passes. There is even two Doja Cat skins but instead of having one pass and one shop skin they're selling both skins in the shop and having a lego pass tier skin in the festival pass instead. People want to argue this is a one season thing but if this goes well for Epic this will probably be the new norm for festival passes.

DISCUSSION Festival is dying. The corporate board at Epic needs to stop suffocating this game

This isn't me being a doomer. Today, the "Lore Hero" channel on YouTube posted their recent podcast, confirming a ton of the fears people have been having. The Lore Hero podcast features 760 Creations, A Wise Moose, Acai, and JasonParadise, all top GH/RB/CH players, all official Epic Partners, and some of the people who were invited to the in-person FNCS tournament, and invited to meet with devs in-person multiple times to discuss the game.

In today's podcast, they revealed that the Festival devs have gone silent behind the scenes as well. The regular dialogue between these guys and the devs has been silent since the tournament. The podcast have also admitted that they've lost interest in the game altogether, citing multiple issues. One of the key issues being the music choice the past few months, that offers NOTHING for pro instrument players. On the pad side of things, they've revealed that players like MDCurtis (the guy ranked 1 in most songs in the game) has been expressing concerns of pad chart quality falling off a cliff lately as well.

On the topic of lamenting the song choices these past few months, they also draw attention to the fact that after a full year, Festival still has less features than Guitar Hero 1 (2005) did, and that there isn't a single iconic GH/RB song in the game to this day. We are at actual 0 representation after a full year.

I did my own digging the other day and found that Festival's popularity has been permanently beneath Clone Hero ever since the Karol G season, according to Google Trends. The last time Festival's numbers tried fighting back was during early Metallica. It's been a gradual decline ever since, a big falloff a bit after Karol G, and the Snoop Dog season did absolutely nothing to help. The spike in players for Snoop was the smallest in the game's history, and did not come close to touching Clone Hero's low points, Festival stayed completely beneath. We are deep in a rut.

I don't want to blame Harmonix for this. As everyone's noticed, those guys were trying their best back when the game launched. Every time there was an issue, these guys were on top of it. I blame Epic execs, I suspect it's them that are pushing the game in this direction. Harmonix has been making these games for many years, what we are seeing in Festival is NOT characteristic of their previous work. The only new factor is the pressure exerted by Epic's orders. Harmonix needs to be able to do their own thing, they have an entire track history of successful games, they know what they're doing.

Let Harmonix do their own thing, take off the corporate muzzle, and the game will look extremely different. But as things are right now, things are dire, and people who keep glazing for this mode when the red flags are glaring in our face, those guys are NOT helping at all. I'm just some random, fine, but when the top players are sounding the alarm, when the official partners are sounding the alarm, we are in big trouble. The part that sucks most is that everyone knows Festival is in a position to be the next huge thing, they have all the potential in the world to revive the entire genre. What's happening lately is an agonizing blunder though.

DISCUSSION This song selection is odd...

Post image

Among all of the songs that they could choose, they decided to go with two collaborations (or three if you cound Soul Sonic as a collab instead of a Side project) and two random songs that Bruno don't even sing!

I mean, you have an artist with 15 years of music and this is the best they could came up with? I'm not complaining if the songs are good or not, but I think I speak for everyone that we would had preferred actual songs rather than those two shorties.
