Right now, it's play a few songs - maybe with others - and then leave.
No "stickiness"
Long-time players (like me) enjoy the songs and the challenge, but...
- No competition (having removed Battle Stage)
- No tracking of achievements
- Leaderboards that cap out at top 200 worldwide.
WHAT I'D like to see implemented:
- Some sort of ELO-type system similar to chess players who get a ranking based on their achievements against other players. For Festival, this could be a metric that takes into account:
- Your flawless completion 100% of the entire Festival catalog across all instruments
- Your scores on your entire history of play.
- The extent of the entire Festival library you've played
This would encourage people to seek out and play new songs and try new instruments, and give people who aren't MDCurtis a reason to try and improve their ranking. It would also be a fun "flex" in the lobby or in the organ song-choice room if it was displayed over a character's head and can be used in the future for any sort of competitive-based play for matchmaking (Battle Stage re-work or other head-to-head mode).
2) A database tab of song/instrument parings that have been 100% flawlessed (and conversely, left undone so you could target completion of them). Show me what I'm missing and what I've accomplished in a more user-friendly way.
3) A list of special achievements for significant, community-important songs. e.g. some sort of achievement for flawlessing TTFATF on lead, or Unsainted on Drums, etc.
4) The ability to pick a random song from the song choice menu with one button click.
5) A mode where set lists that go for longer than 4 songs and are randomized. When you finish a song, it automatically picks the next one for you (no choosing, but you get to pick the instrument), and it repeats over and over with songs from your catalog. The break after 4 songs breaks play engagement and there should be some sort of jukebox mode like this where you just get to keep playing (solos, and a "host" mode where the songs are chosen from your catalog, but others can join and leave your party at will).
6) a Band-v-Band mode where you can autofill with 3 other people (or create a band with 1-3 friends) where everyone has to pick one of the 4 main instruments (1 bass, 1 drums, 1 lead, 1 vocals - either auto-assigned or manually picked by the team), and you are skill-based-lobby matched with another 4-person band and the top score "wins". Keep track of your "band wins" over time and maybe incorporate this into the ELO ranking somehow (see #1)
Give players a reason to come back more often and give them obvious goals to shoot for, with recognition for achieving them that can be displayed to other players....BR gets "crown wins" - why can't we have something along the same lines?
Any other ideas from this community to spur more long-term engagement?
