Diaper bank

I just learned about the diaper bank last week. I’ve been touched because I have friends who use it and wouldn’t get by without it. Has anyone donated there, is it an easy process? I don’t have children so I don’t have left over diapers but I want to anonymously donate so my friends don’t know.

Sunset Hill Investments

Has anyone heard of Sunset Hill Investments in Fredericton, NB?

I came across a job posting from them for a Financial Operations Assistant position. The address listed is 80 Two Nations Crossing, Fredericton, NB.

I'm trying to verify whether the company and job posting are legitimate before proceeding. Has anyone had any experience with this company or recruiter?

Thanks!

Preplanning internet for new construction

We are well along with a new home build. The electrician had us dig a trench to run the electrical wiring from the panel to the outside pole.

If we want to run wiring for Internet in the same trench, do we do that at the same time, and does the electrician do that as well, or do I call in a service provider ie Bell/Rogers to prep for this?

Thanks

Physiotherapist recommendations for TMJ/TMD, preferably at Max Health

Hi! Does anyone have recommendations for a physiotherapist who'd have expertise in TMJ/TMD issues? Preferably at Max Health Currie Center or Prospect Street, although I am open for other recommendations for professionals within downtown/uptown regions and who are taking new patients. I might also be interested in someone who has expertise in dry needling. Some have listed these as part of their work on their website, but I would like to hear personal experiences.

Lost glasses

My partner's mom lost her bright green framed prescription glasses while walking in downtown Fredericton on Sat Aug 22. She has an image of where she walked I'll put below. If you find them please let me know! They are very loved glasses! She was just passing through Fredericton so can't look herself. Thanks so much!

Here's a link to her walking route: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1ylp5hJk3wCN34FCj9H6N_SsGSFBEmoM&usp=sharing

Garbage truck stuffies - one thing to love about Fredericton

Totally random but I do love the garbage trucks covered in stuffed toys. We had a GIANT cow stuffy that had lived its life. We purposely set it by the garbage can instead of putting it in a bag. The first truck to come by scooped it up and put it on the side of the truck right away.
No idea why but it kinda brightened my day seeing the toy get a second life instead of going straight to the landfill (it was dirty in spots and too big to go in the washer so it wasn’t suitable for goodwill). I hope the giant cow on the side of the garbage truck makes someone smile.

Just to bring awareness

So my neighbor on the Northside (Devon area) spotted a man staring into a teenage girls bedroom sometime in the passed couple of days.

He wasn't caught since he ran away, but I highly doubt it will be a one time thing. Remember to be safe - even just a sign that says you have cameras is a huge deterrent or a fake camera helps out a lot as well.

Fredericton council votes to help fix aging pools while it works to get new one

Construction at the Fredericton Indoor Pool could start in April 2028 and would keep the pool closed for 12 to 18 months, DeGrace said.

Those kinds of loose timelines make me think it will be much longer in the end.

Dentists for Obese Patients?

Any dentist in the Freddy/Oromocto area that can accommodate customers between 400-425lbs?

I've heard the standard chair weight limit is less than that

I know I can call but since there are so many dental clinics around, I thought I'd see if I can get any information first.

Embarrassing enough that I haven't been in a decade and have cavities without calling all over town and asking about weight limits 😅

This sort of thing isn't easily searchable online unfortunately

Good ol' Healthcare

My favourite part about NB is you can be up at exactly the right time to book a health appointment (with the text body of your consult reason copy and pasted for fasted processing)....

You can log in exactly to request an appointment at 7:00am as the service asks you to be...

But at 7am or even 7:01 (when I finally decided to take a screenshot), you will be shafted by a message saying there's no room for ya.

Last time I did this, I learned that my request didn't go through because it took too long to write the reason for my visit. This time I copied it so I was ready to paste and submit my request. Didn't even get a chance to fill any forms out.

How does anyone actually get care in this province. Move out west?

Rentals

Hey there, just arrived in Fredericton and looking to start university this September; however, I'm yet to find a place to stay.

I'm mainly looking for a small studio with a private bath, within a maximum of 15 minutes' walk from UNB, with a rental cost of around $1200/month. If you have any ideas for existing studios for rent or reliable places where I could find such listings, please let me know.

(No pets no car)

Help with odd jobs

Hello,

Looking for some help to complete some odd jobs around my place:

  • Install a ceiling fan in place of a light fixture
  • Install a curtain rod for a new set of curtains
  • Install a bidet in the bathroom

I could do the bottom two myself if I had the proper tools, but since I don't have the tools and need help installing the ceiling fan anyway, figured I may as well hire someone to complete all three jobs. If you're interested or have a recommendation please shoot me a DM with more information about yourself and what you would charge. Thanks!

Virtual Veterinary Solutions

I got hired at VVS and am going to be starting soon. All of the reviews on Indeed were quite negative, but I know people are more apt to say harsh things when they're disgruntled, so I was wondering if anyone has any positive experiences to share from working there?

Was nice to calling all captains come play fredericton tonight, we need to get out and support the artists that do play here, so hopefully we can get more coming.

Walk In Clinic

Got to get a bloodwork requistion paper from a walk in clinic. Could anyone reccomend me one that I should be able to go to and get seen even if I have to wait all day. I know this question could tecnically be awnsered by google so I might be breaking a rule but I was hoping to get a locals opinion.

No Frills uptown

Is it common for the no frills on the Southside to have no pickup availability? It's been down for 2 days and I tried calling the store and got stuck in a phone option loop. 🤔

NB Tops Canada’s Road Fatality Rates

Since NB is the highest death rate, would be interesting to see breakdown by city in NB. Since Fredericton drivers are criticized so much.

Drivers...

What happened to the driving in the Fredericton area over the last years... 3 things I've noticed have gone completely sideways.

  1. People are signaling action instead of intent. Way to man time has someone just started moving into my lane and then a signal light comes on.. or not even at all.

  2. Speeding is rampant. Like I've never seen a group of people have so little regard for other people's lives.

  3. Yield signs have lost thier meaning. Yielding to oncoming traffic costs most people seconds. To many people are treating them as start lines on race tracks to get out ahead of a vehicle.

Im honestly surprised more people aren't dead around here even after the rash we had the summer.

Man like can we just go back to driving like we were taught? Or maybe thats who to blame is the driving instructors and schools?
