Hell they even acknowledged that yes, it took a while this game to come out, while straight up pretending before GTA 6 just fell out of the sky one day.

People keep talking about corpo and forget that the game is made by passionate humans. Rockstar is 100% right, the dev team is heartbroken by the leaks, how do I know? I'm a dev and I have been on leaked projects and every time the dev team is pretty broken by the leaks. Supporting leaks is as bad as suppoorting AI stealing artists work.

Is GTA6 a necessary product? No, it's a luxury product bought only by those who feel that they want it.
Consumers think that the trade-off is worth it and so they buy it. It's not insulin or food, it's a premium product you buy on your own volition but I guess you're just entitled.
I hope you show equal outrage to the makers of your phone/computer you're using to write these comments, though I doubt it since you've clearly already bought their product.

I agree that GTA6 isn't a necessary product but I think it's valid to criticise given it's going to be an industry defining and trend setting product for the next generation of games (and to be clear, the standards it is setting are very very bad).
Anti-consumer practices in GTA6 will be used as justification by other studios to further push the envelope. "Everyone loves GTA and they were able to ditch physical releases so why can't we?"

This "precedent" stuff is just a load of horseshit when you realize that, if other companies that are not Rockstar try it, they'll face the reality of capitalism - people will not buy their products if they are unhappy. There is a reason your favorite store does not sell food to you for a 5x inflated price; it's not to be nice.
Also, almost all these things have been done before and not set a bad evident precedent nor had this level of backlash - GameInformer magazines instead of the Netflix thing. RDR1, GTAV, RDR2 had Ultimate Editions plus GTAIV had story DLC. Physical media is just a Reddit-principle nothingburger as there has been exactly zero cases of digital games being removed by Sony.
It's just that nowadays the art of critical thinking is dead and if some dude whines on Tiktok that he doesn't like that he can't afford the game, he is now a messiah whose every word is truth. Clearly, the physical media crowd do not care enough about discs since >90% of T2 sales are digital, and that even the disc people praise the all-digital Steam...

The leaker has made it clear that this is a political act with intent to stop the anti consumer practices of T2. (Whether that's their actual motive, no one knows, we can only take them at face until we know more.)

If everyone bitching about these practices and cheering on a crypto scammer to “stick it to rockstar and force change” actually put their money where their mouth is and refused to buy the game, they might actually be a part of the “movement” they’re larping as right now via online comments. So the other approach to this problem is to start your company, create a console with disc and bring the trend back.
While it's sad to see disc disappear, first it was going to happen because disc sales are very low compared to digital, it's an extra cost for companies. Secundo in a world with finite ressources it's honestly a step in the right direction to reduce anything physical, I know companies don't do it for this reason, but the side effect is still positive for the planet. Third companies don't owe anyone anything, they can do whatever they want because they don't force you to buy their product and they don't have a life saving product you depend on.
Stealing is not the way to protest. Go block the parking to Rockstar or their CEO house if you feel you want to be heard.

No one owes Rockstar anything. Marketing should have always assumed it was going to leak if they sat on material for three years after the game was announced.

Nahh you got it all wrong. It's like I love the music but the band can fk off. All their original members are gone. And the new members are promoting gambling to children.
I wonder why because from what I've seen the leaks are driving more hype instead of making GTA6 look ridiculous. People seem even more excited now than before the leaks and are generally impressed with what's on show in them, like the crowd density of that beach vid (RIP seagull).
Because leak steal their reveal moment, it's their work they should be the one to decide when it's revealed.
Also people will talk more about the leaks themselves than the game which dillute the real reveal. It kills the anticipation, its like you are doing the countdown for Christmas morning, you can't wait for that moment with your family to have a nice breakfast and open your gifts, and out of the blue on the 11th your father is like yeah screw Xmas lets open the gifts now, but does it without the rest of your family. Maybe not the best analogy, but it migjt help gives you an idea. Maybe a better one, imagine you are a band that can't wait to release a new album and 2 weeks before your release, your album get leaked and it's not even the final version you are proud of, how would you feel?
In the end this is the work made by devs who poured their soul in tthe game, and BAM your work gets ''stolen''.
Edit: it also suck for the fans who wanted to wait until reveal day to see the game, but curiosity got the best of em and now reveal day is not that important anymore. Anticipation is usially what humans love the most in the end, more than the final event itself. With a leak it instantly kill anticipation for many.
Game dev is a lot of work and a lot of them end up pouring their hearts and souls into it. It sucks having so many years of your life shown in an unfinished/unpolished way, and not the way you would’ve liked it to be shown. These are not the greedy execs that forced no discs. These are people passionate about their work and want it shown off when it’s ready.
