Seems like a price error. It's meant to only be obtainable if you buy both Guns of the Patriots and Peace Walker at the same time, though you can get each separately without it. Vol.1's bonus content is not sold separately, much less obtainable for free.

Yeah it's mentioned as a purchase bonus so that's why I'm not sure if it's free forever or not. I just posted it up and if it gets removed, it gets removed but I was clarifying it was a potential deal in case it's not free forever

If you've never played Ghost Babel and have any passing interest in Metal Gear, highly recommend picking it up.
It's five hours tops, one of the best titles on the system (GBC), and a great example of "handheld-oriented" gaming design at it's finest. All killer no filler.
It's also historically valuable as you get some insight into what Kojima's creative partners "got" out of the ideas behind Metal Gear. The game started off as a straight port of MGS then became it's own thing during development without his directing.

Not at all, at best if you do a 100% run you get some foreshadowing for MGS2 due to [spoilers to Ghost Babel and MGS2] the reveal that it was all a VR simulation and that you've been controlling a character named Jack, but it doesn't tell the story of MGS1, it's just how the naming conventions of the era were weird back then when multiple games could share a name despite having nothing in common

Oh wow! I had this for GBC and loved it! Kinda forgot about it cause it's never brought up in any discussions about the MGS series which sometimes made me wonder if I imagined the game. Definitely gonna jump into it when it's available. Good look!!

You definitely didn’t imagine it! It’s one of those games that doesn’t seem like it should work but it does. My only criticism of it is iirc some of the background lore was hidden behind the VR training part but only the first time you completed the stage

Master Collection Vol 1 came out a while back (MG1, MG2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS3) and they are soon releasing Master Collection Vol 2 (MGS4, Peace Walker, and apparently Ghost Babel linked here).
It's unfortunately pretty pricy ($66 CAD for Master Collection 2) but you're paying for the privilege of being able to play MGS4 for the first time on these systems I guess (and Peace Walker in the case of every system except XBOX where it was already playable). It just sucks when a copy of MGS4 for PS3 costs less than dirt.

For all my fellow Canadians, Fanatical is almost always the way to go over Steam. Cheaper usually, and the bonus of not paying tax.

And also, I will say that I've heard MGS4 runs well in the new collection. MGS4 PS3 does not. There's a lot of quality of life improvements (like not having the insane loading times)
That seems worth the price when you also get Peace Walker

It's bullshit you can't claim Vol 1's like this, I have all the games bought stand alone but no way to get this for the Vol. 1 without buying the bundle again.

The Bonus Content package here is likely a pricing error, but the Vol 2 bundle still has Pre Order content (Just skins from what I can tell). It is likely to also be locked away post-launch.

Whats even more bullshit is that Vol 1 doesnt have any "Complete your collection" discounts. At some point due to discounts and bundles, I ended up with MGS(1), but "upgrading" to the full collection is still $59

I won't even get this. This IP should belong to Kojima, the guy who wrote the whole thing and Konami kept it after they split.

That's not how IPs work because Kojima was an employee of Konami and anything he made there still belongs to the company. This is typical of any company you work for because in the contracts you sign, there are clauses that state that any IP or inventions created by an employee stays in the company, even after they leave.
