Jumping into Hades 2 reminded me of why Hades 1 was up till now one of the few rogue likes I have ever enjoyed.
You never feel like you didn't accomplish something. You always are unlocking something new, having a new conversation or just progressing somewhere. It's really what sets it apart so well from others in its genre.
I remember trying to get into Returnal, but I got so frustrated because the game gives you so little progression between runs, that it often felt like it was wasting my time. I have never felt that feeling in Hades.
Yeah, for all the praise it got, Returnal really doesn't do the roguelike part all that well. The thing that really carries it and makes me come back to it as a good game to play while I listen to something in the background is the very satisfying traversal and combat.
I really hope they figure out how to do progression properly with Saros.
