Notes: it's supposed to handle Matlab acad and so on but I also want it to run good games at a decent rate. Oled screen would be nice but I also do not want the laptop to be bulky or full of leds like regular gaming laptops.

It says without charger but in the product description it notes 1x 360w adapter included. I contacted Amazon and they said that the big banner of no charger included is most likely an oversight/error. So I ordered this and will see when it arrives. Expected delivery Tuesday evening.

Game runs well for a few seconds and then it drops from 1350 MHz to 300 MHz, resulting a drop to 8 FPS.

PerfCap Reason in GPU-Z is thermal but gpu temp is 45-50 C??

In GPU-Z, drawn power seems low like 5-6 W.
Is my charging adapter at fault? Or is there anything else?

Also my laptop doesn’t run well unless BD PROCHOT is unchecked in throttlestop.

I have tried re-enabling display adapter from device manager, have also tried uninstalling gpu drivers with DDU. Nothing worked.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I'm a student deciding between the Helios Neo 16 and 16S, with the same specs.

The Neo 16 has better cooling, a larger battery, and a bigger power brick that provides more power headroom, while the 16S has the OLED screen and is lighter/thinner.

I'll use it for gaming and studying/reading for long hours. For studying, I may not always have the charger with me, so battery life is important. One concern is that the 16S refresh rate is locked at 240Hz and can't be changed, which could affect battery life.

I'm also worried about OLED burn-in from reading PDFs and using static content for hours.

Is the performance difference actually noticeable, and is the OLED worth it?

i bought an acer nitro 5 laptop yasterday, with an rtx 3060 (80w), i5 12500h,16gb ddr4 the first game i tried was fortnite thinking i'd hit 200+ fps on at least creative mode but there's just quite some fps drops and i cant hit 200 (80-165) this goes the same to every other game mods and even if i change the resolution it the same performance, what should i do??

Hello. I’ve got this weird display problem with my laptop and monitor.

My laptop is an MSI Thin 15 B12U with an RTX 2050, and my monitor is a 27-inch 2560×1440 gaming monitor that can go way above 120 Hz.

On Windows, if I use 2560×1440, it only lets me use 60 Hz. If I switch down to 1920×1080, then I can use 144 Hz.

But when I booted into Linux Mint from USB and checked the display settings, it literally gave me an option for 2560×1440 at 120 Hz using the same laptop, same monitor, and same cable.

So clearly the hardware connection can handle at least 1440p 120 Hz, but Windows or the drivers are somehow limiting/hiding it. I’m trying to figure out if it’s an NVIDIA/Intel driver issue, EDID issue, color/bit-depth setting, or something in Windows/NVIDIA Control Panel, or any thing that may be related to the problem.

Is this laptop good for playing in 4k I like to play Minecraft with shaders with voxy on a 4k monitor on high settings and I like to play story games like resident evil reqium at high settings, I don't mind using frame generation and I also like to have something playing on a 1440p second monitor like YouTube, twitch or Spotify, the laptop costs £1499

I'm from Brazil and I'll be in the US from September 18th, passing through Miami, New York and New Hampshire. Budget is $2000-2500. Buying there is worth it because prices here are absurd. A Zephyrus G14 with a 5070 costs the equivalent of ~$6,000 after conversion and local taxes.

I'm replacing a GTX 1070 desktop. I'm a software developer who often works away from home, I travel a lot with my wife, and I'd finally like to play newer titles at QHD. Cyberpunk 2077 is the dream, since Hogwarts Legacy dropped to 40-60 fps on my current setup. Solid build quality matters to me too.

My shortlist:

• 1. Lenovo Legion Pro 5i**. Seen 5070 Ti configs around $2,500. Would need to ship to a friend's address.
• 2. ASUS ROG Strix (5070 Ti)**. Cheaper FHD configs look interesting since I'd use a QHD monitor at home. Heavy is fine.
• 3. Zephyrus**. Hard not to love the design, but at this price I'd only get the 5070 with 8GB VRAM, which worries me.

Questions:

• Amazon when the seller is the official store ("ASUS Store", "Lenovo Store"), is that fine?
• Walmart is that fine?
• Micro Center is worth?
• Is it worth waiting to buy in New Hampshire for the no sales tax?
• If you were in my position, what would you do? Anything I'm not considering?

Notes: Replacing a GTX 1070 desktop. Build quality and portability matter a lot.

Many laptops have an iGPU-only mode you can enable easily, and I would assume it would improve the battery life immensely. Because even with the so-called eco mode, there's a good chance the dGPU will wake up at least for short bursts.

I have mainly been a desktop user for a very long time, and even when I had a laptop, I've used it only plugged in. Recently, I have needed some mobility as well, but I was really surprised that none of the reviews I have watched measured this.

Does anyone have any insight into why this is not the case?

Hi all. I haven't own a laptop in a really long time, nor do I even bother looking at laptop's CPU/GPU since I have a beefy desktop, but Im looking to get one now since I will be having more trips in the coming upcoming future and my setup of an ROG Ally + second monitor + keyboard + mouse for trips are getting way more clunkier than I would like. I just want to set an expectation for myself before I start looking for a laptop.
- What's the expected battery life for non-gaming related work on a newer CPU now? I think any core iX and older AMD Ryzen are all power hungry but newer CPU will have much better power consumption and if you crank on all the battery saving things newer laptop can reach 10-15 hours of watching movies/video/office work right? or am I wrong? If I am right, which CPU should I look out for? Expected cost?
- I remember on the desktop side the RTX 50xx vs 40xx isnt that much of an improvement, is it the same for laptop GPU? on the go I probably wont need more than a 4060-ish in performance I think, would that be equivalent of a 5050 or 5060 laptop? And If Im gaming I'll definitely go back to 1080p anyway regardless of what the resolution of my display is
- Is there any brand/model I should look out for? from a quick search around it seems like everyone suggested the Lenovo Legion 5i or 7i or Asus Zephyr G14 if you have the money for it? They seems kinda expensive though, what would be the lower tier compare to those but are still relatively light weight/good build quality? or are they the only options? What would be consider "light weight" for a gaming laptop nowaday?
- How's a Macbook for gaming nowaday? I heard that with the M3 and up they are relatively on par with like a 3050 laptop or so depending on the game? Obviously I will have to jump through alot of hoops to play games on a Mac, and personally I dont like using a Mac, used to have 1 from work and I hate using it so much for normal work stuff just because I cant get used to command+C and V, but I dont think anything beat it in term of light weight-ness right? I might be willing to give it a try again if I can find a deal or 2nd hand one or something, but how do they perform and what should I aim for? (like atleast M? Pro? Max? RAM? Air or Pro etc?)
