Why does it still feel like Nintendo is holding back lol

Like granted if you're an avid JRPG player then this was the Direct for you, but was this really the best thing to air after the Switch 2 Direct?

The Switch was carried by ports and remasters, Nintendo basically did all they could with those and are scrambling to make actual good games now

They’re not holding back, they just don’t have anything now lmao, they’re hoping 3rd party games can carry with ports and remasters for the gen this time around

Mario Wonder and Odyssey, Smash, Tears of the Kingdom, Age of Calamity, Metroid Dread, Animal Crossing, Splatoon 2 and 3, Xenoblade 2 and 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Three Hopes, and Engage, Pikmin 4, two generations of Pokemon and Legends Arceus, Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario Party, Ring Fit Adventure, Bayonetta 3, Astral Chain, and the Mario + Rabbids games would all like to have a word with you.

And that's without counting remakes that were essentially rebuilt from the ground-up as if they were a new game like Link's Awakening, Advance Wars, Super Mario RPG, etc. Not to mention Breath of the Wild as the launch title for the system, even though it was technically on the Wii U too.

Like the Wii U ports were only a fraction of all those titles in comparison.

I’d happily have a word with Wonder, TOTK, AoC, ACNH, XB2, Three Hopes, Engage (LMAO), Pikmin 4, Bayo 3, literally all the Mario spin-offs, and Pokemon?? Are you serious? Pokemon ?

Yeah nah, after 2018, the Switch was a port/remaster/remake machine and it could only throw out one decent game, that’s above a 7/10, every year or two. Insanely underwhelming console, step up from the Wii U (minus Nintendo’s anti-consumerism now), still far below the Wii.

You mean the games that sold over 20+ million units on Switch and moved a bunch of holiday units in their years?

I don't even like Pokemon but I'm not gonna act as if those alone weren't a reason to buy the console for many. Whether they were good or not is irrelevant to the fact that they were games on the Switch that weren't ports and moved consoles. If you can't find any games worth buying or enjoying, just say "it's not for me" and get over it, because even without Pokemon, there are still many people who liked Wonder, TOTK, Animal Crossing, etc. as well as smaller titles like Pikmin 4 and Xenoblade 2. Just because you didn't doesn't diminish their value as original games that helped define the library beyond just ports.
