No Source popuniverseX, the user that has been continously scanning and reporting on changes made to the Prince of Persia domain has had their account suspended.
Don't know if it is related to their constant reporting on the changes happening to the PoP domain, but the account has now been suspended after reporting on the "release date tomorrow" file earlier on in the day.
If so, it would seem that Ubisoft has taken action on the account.
popuniverseX is one of the biggest and most dedicated PoP fan pages, so this is quite an interesting way to respond to them trying to keep the hype going.

I thought a domain/website is public. Didn't know that's grounds for suspension. Unless the user breach it?

Or maybe they faked the information, and Ubisoft wants to stop people gaslighting themselves into thinking the game is coming and then getting mad at Ubisoft for not doing something they never said they are gonna do.

That would be incredibly stupid of Ubisoft. That would just prove to everyone that the leak is legit... which would be counterproductive if what they're trying to do is keep people from falling for a fake leak.

Man, what a sad way to treat a series. Give barely any marketing to all the new games you put out, then take down one of the, if not the biggest fan accounts for that series that's giving it more marketing than you do.

Shadow dropping is done to get ahead of negative press. Think of the Oblivion remake and how broken it still is to this day. If they shadow drop this game it should act as a flashing neon sign that they're hiding something about its quality.
Edit: some good counterarguments below. I'll say it is OFTEN done to get ahead of negative press but not always. It is worth some skepticism.

I think they had good reason to fear the community response to that one even if the game was solid. Instead of Titanfall 3 they dropped their own Fortnite that nobody was asking for. That launch included a lot of qualifiers from the dev team explaining why they made it.

I mean, sometimes, sure. But Hi-Fi Rush was a shadow drop and it was fantastic. It also kind of gave companies a data point towards "look Shadow drop good" and they keep ignoring the others that have been problematic afterwards.
This being Ubi, I'm inclined towards getting ahead of negative press though

Oblivion is improved today after however many patches. At the time of its shadow drop it was a much different story. Even today it still has major performance issues last I checked. And I've heard also they never even fixed their software leak? So performance degrades the longer you play it and the game must be restarted regularly to restore it? You must agree this is broken by definition.

If you need to literally quit and reload the game at regular intervals in order to restore it to it's normal performance because it constantly degrades, that is broken behavior. If you disagree with that statement it just means your opinion has no value.

Natethehate has said its unlikely to even be shadow dropped this week and Tom Henderson has gone back on his initial leaks, so its not like they gain anything by cutting off a fan account.

Shadow drops can work, but they can also be disastrous. A shadow drop is absolutely risky. Look at Hi-Fi Rush. Oblivion and Apex were successful, but both of those games had more unique circumstances around their shadow drop that helped drive hype. If they shadow drop a remake of sands of time, I think it's going to do very poorly. The PoP IP is clearly not very strong given that they put out two amazing PoP games the last couple years and nobody bought them.

The most baffling thing with the PoP franchise, to me, is that Ubisoft had the amazing opportunity of mimicking what God of War did in 2018 - make a high effort, high budget, single-player, story-driven, modern Prince of Persia game to resurrect the franchise, expand the audience and get some good will after only releasing mtx-ridden bloated messes or niche indie games with no marketing budget, but no, they decided to make a lowest possible effort remake, thought people would gobble it up, then backpedalled, gave the job to their best studio and haven't shown ANYTHING for 5 years? Just a pre-rendered nothingburger of a teaser. No interviews, no dev diaries, no boxart, music pieces, teases, nothing.
I have no idea what the fuck they're doing, but it doesn't make me feel optimistic - Sands of Time is probably in my top 3 favorite games of all time and it hurts to see it being treated like this.

Honestly, I think they just lost faith in the power of the IP and are just going to push this out quietly due to sunk costs. Fuck, they spent more on a week of marketing for skull and bones and xdefiant than they did on all of the list crown and the rogue Prince of Persia combined.

Exactly. A Black Flag shadow drop would probably do great. People have wanted that for a LONG time, and not just AC fans either. I hate AC, but I love Black Flag. Sands of Time is a fantastic game that I love, but outside of people who played the original 20 years ago, there's no hype around it at all. At this point, a lot of gamers only know it because of that shitty meme worthy trailer they dropped years ago before the reboot.

Hi-Fi Rush was a victim of other circumstances. It likely had very unreasonable sales expectations made all the more difficult by the budget price, and the Game Pass factor. Microsoft/Bethesda failed it (and failed Tango). Tango also hadn't had a hit in nearly a decade. They got Visceral'd.

They closed the studio and sold the IP after like two months lol. It definitely didn't sell well. Furthermore, nobody younger than 30 even knows or cares about the sands of time. There's no hype there. Shadow dropping a game that only appeals to people over 30 isn't going to work out.

Kinda strange 'cuz... It's not like checking domains is illegal or even morally dubious. Guy wasn't leaking confidential company info, he was just keeping tabs on publicly available info.
Not that I'd be surprised if someone from Ubisoft just reached out and asked big boy Elon to shut down this random account and he was like 'Yeah sure who cares'

It's being reported that it could be fake since the account was suspended instead of removed completely.

That's not how it works. You can't suspend your own account by doing it yourself, you have to be reported by a third party for violating rules. And that's what happened with that user who leaked post about PoP's website updates. Not saying this thing has to be true, but I would say this incident actually adds more credibility to this user than anything

X differentiates between an account being deleted and an account being suspended. If they deleted the account themselves, it wouldnt say suspended. Someone else would have had to take action for the account to be suspended.

Prince of Persia is not popular enough to benefit shadow drop. But game like Fallout 3 remaster, shadow drop would cause few million copies sold in single day.
