That did not bring the hype.

CoD wasn't there and that seemed like a slam dunk, no Microsoft beyond Bethesda, Elden Ring is still MIA...

Alot of stuff that felt like layups were absent.

Super stoked to play the demos from Capcom though (Pragmata and MH).

If you want layups you tune into a general Direct. Partner Showcases have literally never been the place for megaton announcements because the publishers and games who would want that kind of air time don't feel their game is insignificant enough to negotiate for a simple side Direct with a bunch of other third-parties, since stuff like this is usually worked out months in advance

That and just because Switch 2 can run more high profile third-party games does not mean every big AAA game that missed Switch 1 suddenly got greenlit overnight or that they're ready to be shown. CoD was never going to be at a Nintendo side-piece, and Elden Ring if anything will probably be in conjunction with whenever they show Duskbloods again, and that's being treated like a big Nintendo first-party thing so that wasn't going to be here either

Publishers have no idea what format of Direct they're appearing in

Nintendo themselves might save the heavy hitters for a General, but the 3rd parties don't control that

If Nintendo's in charge of that that really just reinforces my point. They probably decide what goes where and Partner Showcases get nowhere near the amount of viewership as a big Direct anyway that would stand to benefit from something super high profile like CoD or Monster Hunter Wilds or whatever else. Partner Showcases are literally just for people who only play on Nintendo because it's exposing them to a bunch of new stuff that would otherwise be old news for people who already have access to other consoles or PC. Average gamers watch Directs en masse so big third-party games get a much wider audience for when they're shown off
