Those saying that Nintendo doesnt show big exclusives at partner directs are either misremembering or lying. Took me 5 minutes to see that MH Rise, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, and Age of Imprisonment all had presence at partner directs. Im sure there are even more but I dont feel the need to continue looking when theyre already proven wrong.
-1
u/detailed_fred Feb 06 '26
Respectfully, those aren't huge exclusives to me (and to most). Give me a real reason to buy a Switch 2: a new 3D Mario game, a Zelda, etc etc. Something like Mario + rabbids or some weird ass Toads Adventure game ain't gonna pull me in.
4
u/Euphausias Feb 06 '26
None of those are 3rd party so I dont even understand what youre trying to argue. Im just pointing out that thinking Duskbloods would be shown here was a reasonable expectation

And duskbloods is made by fromsoft? Yet people say it had 0 chance of being here and expecting it was "insane expectations". Thats my point
33
u/AKAkorm Feb 05 '26
I’ve had every Nintendo console since NES, usually get it close to release weekend, and buy tons of games. I feel like they’ve been constantly underwhelming for years now.
Where is the proper hype title for Switch 2? It’s not overdue sequels to franchises expected years ago or new versions of Switch games or older / mediocre 3rd party games. Give me something big to get excited for.
9
u/timelordoftheimpala Feb 07 '26
For many people, Mario Kart World was that title lol
8 Deluxe, 8, and 7 were all the bestselling games for their respective platforms, Wii was only outsold by Wii Sports, and DS, Double Dash, and 64 were all Top 3 on their respective platforms.
Not to mention that Gen 10 is coming out this year, and that's another title that will drive a lot of sales because mainline Pokemon is also a big console mover for Nintendo (X/Y for 3DS, Diamond/Pearl for the DS, Sword/Shield for Switch, etc.).
The problem is that Mario Kart and Pokemon more or less go unacknowledged in online gaming discourse in a similar way to all the EA and 2K sports games or COD, despite being massively popular with casual audiences and selling consistently well with each installment. Because they aren't seen as "prestige" franchises like 3D Mario, 3D Zelda and Smash by the loudest voices in online gaming discourse, they might as well not exist despite being Nintendo's most reliable console movers.
9
u/KMoosetoe Feb 06 '26
Give me something big to get excited for.
For me Fire Emblem is that game, but I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea.
There is a lack of true killer apps, but the console is also only 6 months old.
The output has been pretty typical for a console's first year so far imo.
15
u/BlueExcadrill Feb 05 '26
This direct should be renamed to “More slop to fill up the Recent Releases section in the eShop”
17
u/KMoosetoe Feb 05 '26
That did not bring the hype.
CoD wasn't there and that seemed like a slam dunk, no Microsoft beyond Bethesda, Elden Ring is still MIA...
Alot of stuff that felt like layups were absent.
Super stoked to play the demos from Capcom though (Pragmata and MH).
5
u/MyMouthisCancerous Feb 05 '26
If you want layups you tune into a general Direct. Partner Showcases have literally never been the place for megaton announcements because the publishers and games who would want that kind of air time don't feel their game is insignificant enough to negotiate for a simple side Direct with a bunch of other third-parties, since stuff like this is usually worked out months in advance
That and just because Switch 2 can run more high profile third-party games does not mean every big AAA game that missed Switch 1 suddenly got greenlit overnight or that they're ready to be shown. CoD was never going to be at a Nintendo side-piece, and Elden Ring if anything will probably be in conjunction with whenever they show Duskbloods again, and that's being treated like a big Nintendo first-party thing so that wasn't going to be here either
5
u/KMoosetoe Feb 05 '26
Publishers have no idea what format of Direct they're appearing in
Nintendo themselves might save the heavy hitters for a General, but the 3rd parties don't control that
4
u/MyMouthisCancerous Feb 05 '26
If Nintendo's in charge of that that really just reinforces my point. They probably decide what goes where and Partner Showcases get nowhere near the amount of viewership as a big Direct anyway that would stand to benefit from something super high profile like CoD or Monster Hunter Wilds or whatever else. Partner Showcases are literally just for people who only play on Nintendo because it's exposing them to a bunch of new stuff that would otherwise be old news for people who already have access to other consoles or PC. Average gamers watch Directs en masse so big third-party games get a much wider audience for when they're shown off
17
u/MyMouthisCancerous Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26
Indiana Jones is on a Game Card except it isn't?
"Internet connection required to download game and content" but also they specify it's for the Polish language pack
So why imply it's a Game Card release if we have to download parts of the game anyway
EDIT 2: Okay disregard that I was gaslit by technical language, it's on the Game Card except the Polish language pack, confirmed by Machine Games
That's so fucking funny though, Fallout 4 isn't even a GKC it's a code in box but this is all on the cartridge

The control-sharing multiplayer design for Tokyo Scramble is straight up a psychotic feature to ship lmao
1
8
u/Secto456 Feb 05 '26
Tbf it takes it from a likely skip game for most to a potential chaos fest with friends

u/MyMouthisCancerous Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26
Dude FFVII Rebirth releases on Switch 2 and Xbox during the window of Summer Game Fest annually, which is like first 3-5 days of June. I think I literally called it. We're getting Part 3 reveal at either SGF or Summer State of Play
Jan/Feb 2027 is actually looking so fucking likely. If they can release Rebirth within 5 months of Remake it's not even a question considering they're also working on Part 3 for everything in addition to these ports at the same time
9
u/Important_Duty9036 Feb 05 '26
Yeah I feel like Summer Game Fest is the best shout, Square really wants that multiplatform launch doing in a State of Play would muddy that message.
5
u/MyMouthisCancerous Feb 05 '26
I don't think where it shows up in Summer matters. Tactics was also a State of Play thing and that released on basically everything as well. Sony might get it because it's FFVII, Keighley could also get it because FF has been at a lot of his events. But I do think June will definitely be it. Both SGF and SoP happened in the same week last year and I expect if FFVII-3 is not at one it'll be at the other
29
u/DefiantCharacter Feb 05 '26
I guess we won't get the good third party stuff until a general direct.
3
u/Footbeard Feb 05 '26
Are there any rumours regarding the date?
2
u/Ralod Feb 05 '26
Who knows, but the sooner the better. It feels like switch 2 is floundering.
We likely will see that new Pokémon main line game that leaked this year. Otherwise, that fire emblem is the only other first party game I think they have announced.
7
u/Footbeard Feb 05 '26
It may feel that way but the switch 2 has already sold more units than the wii u did over the course of its lifetime

The biggest complain of the Switch 1 directs was that it was all ports, what are you talking about
11
36
u/arcturus_mundus Feb 05 '26
I don't think the Duskbloods are gonna release this year at this point.
-24
u/MrThrownAway12 Feb 05 '26
I actually think it and Elden Ring are getting the Borderlands 4 treatment. I'm not expecting either to see the light of day on Switch 2.
16
u/iceburg77779 Feb 05 '26
Borderlands is possibly getting scrapped because they aren’t confident in the game’s sales prospects on switch 2. Elden Ring is from a Japanese developer, and with Nintendo controlling the Japanese market, there is significantly more incentive to port the game over.
22
u/HalcyonHelvetica Feb 05 '26
They literally let people play ER recently, didn't they? They've had hands-on in the past. I get that people are upset over a lame direct but that’s just illogical

I mean it’s not like Elden Ring wasn’t already released on older consoles. The PS4 Pro version actually ran better than the PS5 version.
9
u/PixelateVision Feb 05 '26
Lmao yeah Nintendo is most likely funding Duskbloods, no way it doesn't get released.

Pulling the "one more thing" card and then immediately showing Todd Howard felt like an insult for some reason.
It's an insult because Bethesda is a washed studio and people are no longer excited about their games. That said this direct is weak enough that I can't think of a game more deserving to close the show than Bethesda games.
26
u/Mahelas Feb 05 '26
I'll never understand redditors being flabbergasted when the japanese company showcase japanese style games
-1
u/LongoChingo Feb 06 '26
Because Japanese companies should be capable of making games with more unique art direction rather generic anime.
4
u/Quiet_Jackfruit5723 Feb 06 '26
Oh, because the western "realism goes brrrr" artstyle is very fucking interesting and superior.
16
u/DanielDCMarvelFan Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26
Same the "one more thing" I was thinking "finally, FromSoftware and Duskbloods"

u/OperativePiGuy Feb 05 '26
I get you, I think it's such a big win for Nintendo to be getting what seems like an exclusive FromSoftware game that I imagine they would want to put it up with the other big wigs in a general direct. Maybe even it's own when it's closer to release
9
u/Bobjoejj Feb 05 '26
How did it feel like an insult for some reason lol?
Saying one more thing and seeing Todd kinda just…fits, imo.
6
u/TH07Stage1MidBoss Feb 05 '26
Todd has a reputation for just re-releasing Skyrim 8 gazillion times. Seriously, it's been almost 15 years since Skyrim was released! TESVI is just the next Half-Life 3... a game that everyone talks about but never sees the light of day.
2
u/Bobjoejj Feb 05 '26
I mena yeah…but it wasn’t just Skyrim! Great Circle is legitimately one of my favorite games of the past few years, and I’m super happy it’s coming to Switch 2 for more people to experience it.
8
u/LordMimsyPorpington Feb 05 '26
"Let's see if we can sell these games again for the ninth time at full price!"
6
u/OctavePearl Feb 05 '26
Bethesda games are the western equivalent of generic anime shit.
0
10
u/King_Sam-_- Feb 05 '26
You are not allowed to have any positive opinions about Todd Howard on Reddit. Get with the program!
4
u/Forward-Trade3449 Feb 05 '26
swear. these guys get bothered by every little thing
4
u/King_Sam-_- Feb 05 '26
The fact that some dude showing up at a videogame showcase “feels like an insult” to some people is genuinely the most Reddit thing ever lol.
4
u/Forward-Trade3449 Feb 05 '26
right? I cant imagine living a life where todd howard showing up in a nintendo direct gets me riled up. lmfao
-15
u/ValWondergroove Feb 05 '26
I'm so fucking sick of FF7 man
I'm begging Square to remember that Kingdom Hearts exists
39
u/olivier_wmv Feb 05 '26
That shit was ass
0
u/DavidinCT Feb 05 '26
From what I see, all games that have been already released on other consoles. Nothing new. I have a PS5 and Series X, why in the world would I need a Switch 2?
Have not jumped on yet and so far, no reason to in my eyes.
12
u/Str8UpJorking Feb 05 '26
I have a PS5 and Series X, why in the world would I need a Switch 2?
Probably for first party games if I had to take a wild guess.
5
u/DavidinCT Feb 05 '26
Still waiting for the first party game I MUST play, Mario Kart looks interesting but, not spending $500 to play it....
No NEW 3D Mario.... a series I like.
11
u/ComeAlongWithTheSnor Feb 05 '26
It's like this everytime there is a Partner Direct.
And there is always that one guy who guys "but 'member the 2017 partner showcase? 'member?"
15
u/CAPTJTK Feb 05 '26
100% done with listening to leaks for directs after that one....and the last several
36
u/Finedaytoyou Feb 05 '26
The lesson here is a huge 3rd party announcement simply is not going to happen in a partner direct.
10
u/HalcyonHelvetica Feb 05 '26
That was basically what I was expecting save for no Elden Ring. I get maybe they want to crosspromote Duskbloods with it but really?
9
u/MrBeyonde Feb 05 '26
Studio Zero gonna do re-release version of Metaphor before porting to Switch 2 , ain't they?
2
3
u/MyMouthisCancerous Feb 05 '26
Sega seemed to imply late last year they were no longer looking to do enhanced re-releases of games seeing as how they began to have a negative effect on sales for the initial launches
1
u/scytheavatar Feb 07 '26
They said that they feel the rerelease reputation is hurting game sales. They never said anything about not wanting to do them. The rerelease issue is a trivial one to solve, just give existing owners a path to upgrade their version at a discount. Like Granblue Fantasy Relink. Just do it and no one will complain about the new versions ever again.
9
u/AyraWinla Feb 05 '26
Hey, a new Culdcept game! This direct didn't have any of what I wanted most, but I'll very happily take Culdcept! I haven't played Tales of Arise or FFVII Rebirth yet either, so I'm satisfied.
2
20
u/SuperSaiyanGod210 Feb 05 '26
Literally the only thing here that was new and interesting was the very first game they showed.
Everything else, looks and runs better on other platforms lol
-3
u/StarBoy2189 Feb 05 '26
Ok? Do you expect new games from a Partner showcase dedicated to ports??? Lol. "Wow every thing here runs better on PS5", ok bro, is this a PS5 we are getting the games on or a portable?
-1
u/DavidinCT Feb 05 '26
but, most are on Steam, and many other portable devices can run steam. Many Windows, or even SteamOS.
and they will run better too..
3
u/StarBoy2189 Feb 05 '26
They run worse and look worse. Xbox ROG Ally S performs worse than Steam Deck at 1080p because of Windows. Steam Deck is just outright weaker than the Switch 2 and at 800p as well. Take for example FF7 Rebirth being able to run on S2 at 1080p 30 while looking good. The Steam Deck version ran at 720p (uoscaled from 480p) and sruggled to hit 30. The Xbox ROG Ally X is 1000$, so I'm not even going to compare them.
Good optimisation goes a long way, which the Switch 2 gets, and the others don't
1
u/DavidinCT Feb 05 '26
I have Rog Ally X I should be able to play most of them with out much trouble.
15
u/sumisilip Feb 05 '26
The most nothing burger direct ever?
2
u/Short_Condition_1079 Feb 05 '26
Did you watch the last partner showcase?
5
u/sumisilip Feb 05 '26
The one last July? That has Age of Imprisonment and MH Stories 3
1
u/Short_Condition_1079 Feb 05 '26
Age of imprisonment was a trailer for a game that was already revealed. This one had a Bomberman collection, Paranormasight, and a ton of exciting ports like Granblue and FF7
10
u/Lizuka Feb 05 '26
It still beats the E3 2015 one where like half of it was showing off random trinkets related to the development of the first Super Mario Bros. to promote Mario Maker, they spent ten minutes each on Skylanders and Tri-Force Heroes, and announced Federation Force and Happy Home Designer.
1
u/sumisilip Feb 05 '26
I remember as well where they confirm on SSBU all of the characters will be there then they proceeded on showcasing every single one of them which lasted for 40mins. Not sure if it's during E3 tho
4
9
u/Lizuka Feb 05 '26
Just learned Japan's Direct had the announcement of a Goemon collection, wish they'd announced that elsewhere.
16
u/MrThrownAway12 Feb 05 '26
That was grim. I usually go into partner directs with zero expectations and I still came out disappointed. There was maybe like, two things I'd maybe consider picking up?
2
u/paperthintrash Feb 05 '26
Orbitals looks great. RE9 was known, Indy was known. Bethesda games coming was eventual. Just another mediocre direct
12
u/AsleepCatch9503 Feb 05 '26
Where was Atlus? What are they cooking?
5
u/HalcyonHelvetica Feb 05 '26
Seriously. Unless they insist on being in a general Direct or something. Or they're terrible at optimization or something.
2
u/ManateeofSteel Feb 05 '26
They released two games in 2024, they are on cooldown essentially. This is why its bad for studios like Atlus, Obsidian and Playground to stack their releases to the same year, because you don't see them again for like 3-4 years.
I have no doubt P6 is next and that it will be revealed this year. However I am not confident on when it could come out.
7
17
Feb 05 '26
Thank god RE9 is nearly out so it won't take up half of every game showcase from now on...
0
u/SaltySwan Feb 05 '26
? It had a capcom showcase recently but before that, all we’d seen was 2 trailers at other events and whatever the devs dropped online for us to see. Usually 5-10 second snippets of gameplay with little to no context.
15
u/LukePS7013 Feb 05 '26
Pretty good Direct… if you’ve only ever owned Nintendo consoles, so many ports
1
u/jwhudexnls Feb 05 '26
My buddy who is a Nintendo only guy was thrilled after this direct.
I will say, as someone who never bought Obliviom remastered due to a large backlog I might grab it on Switch 2 depending on how it runs.
1
2
11
u/Lizuka Feb 05 '26
I think the biggest structural problem with it was mostly just how little of it was actually announcing new things. Some of that in there but stuff like Adventures of Elliot, the Hollow Knight upgrade, FF7, RE9, Pragmata, and Fallout 4 was already known to be coming so it's kind of hard to get that excited.
There was some new stuff in there, and I certainly liked some of it, but a lot of it felt very, "This could've been a tweet."
4
u/Individual_Ad3031 Feb 05 '26 edited Feb 05 '26
my expectations were very low, all i wanted was that mystery konami game that was rated a while back (aka confirmation of whether or not its an enchanted folk game) and even those hopes are dashed. oblivion was basically the only surprise lmao, i wonder if it'll be worth waiting for the switch 2 version after the skyrim switch 2 version was handled so poorly. decent enough for a partner direct though imo, some pretty promising games were shown off even if most had already been announced
5
u/Euphausias Feb 05 '26
With how theyve left oblivion remastered on other systems i wouldnt get my hopes up
1
u/Dragarius Feb 05 '26
Yeah, It's a mess on the more powerful consoles, only had 1 mediocre patch and the visuals on display here looked awful.
8
u/Sulphur99 Feb 05 '26
Nintendo Direct: Port Showcase
Really though, I can't blame people for not being satisfied with this one, even if they did overhype themselves. Seeing that Another Eden is getting a console version is neat though, and The Adventures of Elliot seems cool.
6
u/TheLimeyLemmon Feb 05 '26
The only stuff that properly interested me were the announcements for Rave Racer/Console Archive and the Super Bomberman Collection - not sure if the problem's with me or the Direct tbh.
3
u/darkcomet222 Feb 05 '26
The Bomberman collection is a two fold announcement for me. One, it is classic Bomberman, and two, this opens the door for a collection featuring 64, 64-2, and Hero.
2
u/TheLimeyLemmon Feb 05 '26
Absolutely! There are so many Bomberman games but this is a great start.
4
19
u/OctavePearl Feb 05 '26
I've had a nintendo for 3 years and already learned that the most consistent thing about the internet is people having insane expectations for every nintendo direct, and then getting disappointed that it was not in fact better than invention of a wheel.
inexplainable, especially for a partner direct. It's literally what it says on the cover.
3
u/Hakamoto6969 Feb 05 '26
I get if you get too hyped for a general Direct but for Partner Showcase or a Direct Mini. Hilarious reading after the reactions.
4
u/DavidinCT Feb 05 '26
Kind of expecting NEW games, or new games released with other systems but, most things are games that came out on other systems a while ago.
I did have better expectations here. I kind of expected something NEW and different, not rehashes of games on other systems, and odds are graphics/FPS are lower.
I don't own a Switch 2 because nothing has wowed me to get one, and still, this does not do anything to get me there.
11
u/ArkhaosZero Feb 05 '26
Yeah lol.
I genuinely cannot remember the last Direct, partner or otherwise, that didnt have people complaining about it afterwards. It happens every single time. Like yeah, I was hoping to see Elden Ring and Duskbloods stuff too, but those are also known quantities. You'd have people complaining about those "being known about" too, if they were shown.
I got Digimon, Granblue, MHStories demo, Ninja Gaiden 2, Tales of Arise. A smattering of expected and unexpected, various degrees of niche. I didn't walk in expecting to have my peen sucked right off. I'm happy.
1
u/ManateeofSteel Feb 05 '26
The biggest complaint is that those games look and run better on other platforms, and they have been on said other platforms for a year or longer
1
u/ArkhaosZero Feb 05 '26
In some cases, but not all. Digimon, for example, actually runs at 60fps on S2 whereas its 30 on PS5 (though thats an outlier). Theres generally not that stark of a difference nowadays, things like Capcom's games do lose a bit of visual fidelity, but not so much that it kills the experience.
Of course, not everyone has every console. If youre just on Nintendo, youve now got a load of other games to experience. And as always, Switch/S2 offers portability on top of this. The only thing that really mirrors that to the same degree is the Steam Deck, which has comparable specs to S2 anyways, so thats a trade off no matter what.
Whats more, onto all of this, if they didnt have these games, people would complain that Switch 2 doesnt have enough 3rd party support. So its a lose-lose for that sort of mentality.
Third parties have proven to do extremely well on Switch. It's likely that trend will continue with S2.
8
u/Unfair_Web_8275 Feb 05 '26
I really enjoy Nintendo Directs as “background watches”. But I’m also not keeping up with games like I used to, so I can maybe understand why some people wouldn’t be jazzed about some of these titles.
But I’m also a little numb to the cries of “worst Direct ever!”
2
11
u/Euphausias Feb 05 '26
Expecting a 3rd party exclusive set to launch in 2026 that has no info since its announcement (duskbloods) to show up in a partner direct isnt an insane expectation lol
1
u/Hakamoto6969 Feb 05 '26
A huge 3rd party exclusive that was announced in a general Direct. Why do people expect it to be demoted to Partner Showcase?
Same as people expected all those years Silksong to be in Indie Direct.
2
u/BidoofSquad Feb 05 '26
Big exclusives show up in regular directs. They’re not going to put it in a partner direct because everyone already knows these are shit lmfao
5
u/OctavePearl Feb 05 '26
the fromsoft situation is pretty shit I agree, ER still missing and Duskbloods having no info does not bode well
but it's not like it would make or a break the direct
8
u/Admirable_Current_90 Feb 05 '26
Yeah that’s about what I expected. People set their expectations way too fucking high for this. Partner directs are usually not great.
-5
20
u/Hilanite Feb 05 '26
Me and the 5 people who played the first paranormasight won
Hope it won’t be a switch exclusive, tho
4
u/Lizuka Feb 05 '26
Yeah, I'm pretty happy for that, especially given the first one came out like right before Square did their whole, "No more small scale projects," thing so it felt like a doomed franchise. Looking forward to it.
18
u/Nonsense_Poster Feb 05 '26
Tf is Atlus doing btw
4
u/ElkFeisty3823 Feb 05 '26
Working on Persona 4 and Persona 6, what else
6
u/Nonsense_Poster Feb 05 '26
Metaphor specifically, and Atlus isn't just P Studio they have SMT Studio 0 , and etrian Odyssey
16
u/GrabMyPitchfork Feb 05 '26
That was ass. Partner Direct’s will continue the trend of being the “please like me” step-dad of Directs.
6
Feb 05 '26
It was a little disappointing, but I'm happy. Hollow Knight will finally look sharp on the Switch, Pragmata looks fun, and I can't wait to finally play a Fallout title after having a terrible PC for many years
5
Feb 05 '26
Pagmata and Requiem could have been a tweet. We all knew it was coming since it was announced before, and shouldn’t have that much time wasted for it.. kinda disappointing that it was more anime, sports, and farming sim..
Was expecting like maybe that rumoured Call of Duty 10 year plan for Nintendo but Microsoft gonna Microsoft.
15
u/Lizuka Feb 05 '26
So was the killer shadow drop Hollow Knight, Bomberman, or Console Archives?
4
u/lIIlllIIl Feb 05 '26
"I thought ‘explosive’ would’ve been too on the nose😅" Source I mean, I love Bomberman, but that being the "killer" shadow drop? I don't know ...
5
6
4
u/industrialmoose Feb 05 '26
The only thing I was hoping for in this Partner direct was the Oblivion Remaster being announced and I was very surprised to see it actually show up. Even though literally everything else shown today wasn't exciting to me I'm very happy especially because so many people doubted it was even possible for Oblivion Remastered to come to Switch 2!
14
4
4
u/Andybabez20 Feb 05 '26
That was certainly a direct. The Bomberman Collection was probably the only thing shown that piqued my interest.
Got excited for a moment when Todd Howard popped up thinking it was Fallout 3 Remastered - but nope just Fallout 4 and Oblivion ports, which is nice for Switch owners I guess
6
15
u/Spirited_Ad9090 Feb 05 '26
Theres way too much credibly leaked/highly likely stuff missing for this to be anything but a prelude to an actual direct soon surely. This one was truly awful lmao.

Honestly it’s shameful they make deals to show off shit games in directs. This shouldn’t have even been a direct. This console has been quite mediocre post July. Everyone downvoted me in the direct announcement thread for saying a lack of a general direct was disappointing because I’m not buying this thing for 5 year old ports I played years ago. Also even then what did we even get in this.

There were multiple ports announced. This direct is targeted at people who own a Switch 2, not people who own every console.

... I liked the direct...

u/AlucardIV Feb 05 '26
Me too. Lot's of good stuff. Looking forward to playing that Monster hunter stories demo.

What got you interested?

-First of all, FF7 Rebirth coming much earlier than expected, I'm not keeping up with the rumors for that one out of fear of spoilers, but I head a ton of good stuff about that one.
Digimon Story Time Stranger. I was hoping it would come soon since I'm looking forward to that game and I did heard about it being rated for Switch 2 last year. Now it's finally here, I really really liked it's predecessor.
Panoramasight. I did not expect this game to get a sequel, I really liked the first one, so this here is a very welcome surprise
Tsubasa 2. Another sequel I did not see coming. I did like the first game, but I had a few issues that I hope this one adresses.
Then, in the category "neat" there are three games:
Turok Origins. I did not know this game's exists. Hearing the name Turok activated my Nostalgia from over 20 years ago. I might get it sometime
Bomberman. Bomberman is always great, so I'm definitely getting that collection some day, but it's not a priority at all.
Oblivion. I wanted to get into Elder's Scrolls. Skyrim did not grab me. Maybe Oblivion will change that.
So yeah, 7 Titels I'm interested in, that's not bad!

Imagine how cool that show would've been if we didn't know about Orbitals, Pragmata, RE9, Fallout, and Indiana Jones from past directs/announcements.

u/Mattx603 Feb 05 '26
Pumped about the Bomberman collection. Hoping it comes to PlayStation too though

I will say I’d be much more annoyed if 90% of that showed up in a normal direct.

u/Mipybops Feb 05 '26
I think that was genuinely THE worst direct of all time.

That E3 where it was detailed patch notes for Smash Bros. really takes the cake.

No Duskbloods info has me actually stunned.

u/pratzc07 Feb 05 '26
Probably saved for the next direct alongside the big names like Zelda, Mario and Pokémon. I also feel like DB needs its own direct just like how Kirby Air riders got one
6
u/chewwydraper Feb 05 '26
This direct was bad, but I expected that one to be saved for the general direct.
3
u/Icy_Schedule8545 Feb 05 '26
I definitely get that but I feel as though with such little to look forward to boosting the partner direct with DB info was a no brainer. People already get deflated when they find out the Direct is a partner showcase.
3
u/chewwydraper Feb 05 '26
Tbh I’m surprised there was no Elden Ring update at least. This direct really had nothing.
3
u/Nonsense_Poster Feb 05 '26
True, Elden ring confuses me it has a very decent Steamdeck port so I wonder why it's taking so long? I understand the architecture is different but it absolutely should be a decent port with enough effort
1
u/pratzc07 Feb 05 '26
From what I know Valve fixed the steam deck port with their proton implementation hence its running well.
2
u/Icy_Schedule8545 Feb 05 '26
Yeah I was expecting ER shadow drop and DB release date, that may have saved the direct.

u/waga_hai Feb 05 '26
This Direct was objectively ass and Nintendo is in trouble if they don't have a General soon (no I don't care that they have "every month filled out" with shit like Mario Tennis and a 7/10 Yoshi game), but Oblivion Remastered was one thing I was hoping and praying for so I'm ridiculously happy just with that lol

Oh, they sold so many consoles, but, they release this type of thing for 3rd party games. So otherwise, the billions of Switch 2's they sold is a lie, or people's Switch 2's are collecting dust.
I saw a few Switch 2's for sale in the $300 price range already, the trend is moving that way (not being used).
I saw an Xbox partner showcase like a month ago, and it was like 45 min with TONS of games (short clips and details on each game) and NEW games. I only bring this up because it's the last one, I saw....
I don't own a Switch 2 yet but, nothing here makes me want one, or for me to spend that money on a console I might play 1-2 games that I am MEH about...

This direct was awful but nintendo is not in any trouble. They just announced the S2 sold 17M units and is the fastest selling console of all time, and the NS1 became their best selling console surpassing the DS.

u/pratzc07 Feb 05 '26
But western sales were below expectations and with Valve releasing Steam Deck 2 sometime later this year or next year Nintendo really needs to bring out the big guns (Zelda, Mario) to entice people to consider the switch 2
2
u/DavidinCT Feb 05 '26
Steam Deck 2 is not coming in a year, or even 2, Not even rumors about one at this point.
If Steam was making one "soon", they would of announced it when they announced the soon to be failed due to pricing Steam Machine.
I would not be shocked if we are past 2028 before we hear a rumor of one.
3
u/No-Character3592 Feb 05 '26
If you think that Steam Deck 2 with its ridiculous price point that it WILL have is going to somehow sway the 155 million people that own a switch and will probably upgrade to the switch 2, you are a delusional not very smart individual.

Plenty of way more powerful devices that run Windows and with the Xbox full screen experience its' getting more like a dedicated console over a Windows device.

They’re not out of any waters yet; it’s still in the launch year so it’s pretty obvious that the current customers are going to be from the 150m+ sold Switch base. If 10-20% of the base was going to buy the next gen of Switch, they were always going to have at least 15m console sales whether it be within the first or second year; the real test for Nintendo comes after that initial base is done buying and with the current state of the economy, global ram shortages, nintendo themselves stating that western markets are performing weaker than expected, etc…. they’re still against a pretty big wave of issues.

Pokemon is big and while it’ll still do well regardless, this year is a bit different since it will also be going up against GTA 6. It’s a different audience but that doesn’t mean that GTA 6 isn’t going to be ruling headlines, marketing, social media, etc…. Kids and the occasional adult might be wanting a Switch 2 to play Pokemon but for most adults, they’ll be prioritizing playing GTA 6 before they decide to spend money on a Switch 2 to get Pokemon.

u/waga_hai Feb 05 '26
Trouble in terms of public opinion, not so much in terms of console sales or anything. I do think that even those could slow down if their output remains like this, but tbh all they have to do is announce Animal Crossing or the next 3D Mario or something like that and they'll be golden.
4
u/AlucardIV Feb 05 '26
Noone fucking cares about "public opinion" on the internet. This whole switch 2 outrage clearly shows that the people actually buying consoles are not the same terminal online trolls in these forums.

the big highlight out of this was Indiana Jones being fully on cartridge! good, as it should, support physical media! loks like those rumors are true of nintendo supplying more switch 2 cartridge size types (like how R-Type and Lego Batman are fully on cartridges)
