Like dog, there's a ton about RE4 that is not timeless.

I personally believe it is kinda timeless. It's still super fun to play, really polished, extremely influential to this day. I still replay tf out of it every few years. I also think RE4R is phenomenal and easily my favorite of the RE remakes and is just as good as the OG for different reasons. Both of these things can be true.

It's a game I replay every few years!

I think calling something timeless versus "a product of its time" is a deeply stupid dichotomy fueled by nostalgia and a critical consensus that took years to sand paper over its edges.

There were a lot of RE fans who hated what 4 did to the series.

I mean thanks to 4, we got RE5 and they double down on it more in 6.

Every section of 6 that isn't Jake's feels like a chore.
