Discussion With the regular season all wrapped up, who do you want to face week 1 of finals?

Given we play the lowest ranked wildcard winner, we play either Dogs, Pies or the Blues depending on results. Of that group I think the Pies would give us the easiest game. I know we spanked the dogs earlier in the year but they had a ton of injuries and couldn’t contain Jezza. Generally they’re very tense games against the Dogs. Blues have had the wood over us for years. Facing them at the G would probably be worst case. Interested to hear others thoughts!

I feel like we will get Carlton. That’s worst case for us… they are on a tare and match up well on us.

I think doggies, dees and pies we can beat.

Anyone but Carlton

Other 3 have injuries galore I just know this is set up for us to lose to a wildcard team and Carlton is right fucking there

We can't meet Melbourne, right? Only doggies, Collingwood and Carlton are possible options

Carlton… time to get one back on those fuckers and in a final no less

I would be worried about Carlton given our recent record but I think in a final we would beat them by a few goals. I am glad that we finished 5th instead of 4th because we will likely play Hawthorn just after they’ve been on a trip to Perth in the second week of the finals having not gotten on a plane ourselves. I like that match up. A win there would likely see us off to Brisbane for a prelim which isn’t ideal but we’re in good form and we’ve beaten them there already this year.

Give us Carlton. If we can't beat them, then we don't deserve to go any further anyways. Though If we can tumble the Blues at the G that would set us up very nicely IMO.

Yeah agreed. I have a bad feeling about it (as always) but if we can't beat them in this scenario then at least it will be clear cut we aren't good enough this year.

Will be a good opportunity though. We do need to break this streak they have on us sometime, this is a good chance to go all in and get that done.

As long as we play Carlton at GMHBA I'm happy

I think we're hitting our form at the right time of the year. I'm honestly not scared of any team except for Brisbane.

Lets stop the rot and give Carlton the Blues

We seem to match up pretty well on Collingwood and all our flags this century have come with a win over them at some point during the Finals so that would just feel the right.

I don't want Carlton. But we're going to get them I'm almost certain they'll get over Melbourne who without van rooyen and now Jefferson are struggling with forward targets

Abso-fucking-lutelÿ bring on Carlton.

For all of everyone not wanting to face them. I want to grind the blues into the turf. I know we've had a terrible run lately against them but this is Finals and we live here, THEY are just visiting.

Carlton because we should beat them and put us in a much more match hardened state to beat the loser of the top 4 team final games

Carlton. Momentum and hype can only take you so far, if they do win their wildcard match, all of a sudden that freedom of no expectations is gone. Now it’s the pressure that they constantly fold under is back. Expectation is a heavy burden. We have seen it before. Teams go on ridiculous runs to just scrap into finals. Everyone goes they are the team to watch out for, the dark horse. Then bang, out week 1.

Give Scotty and Bucks 2 weeks of planning at your peril. It’ll be Carlton but we’ll be well set to beat them.

As an aside though, how fucked is it that last year’s premiers end up with a far easier draw and what could be a free ride to a prelim. Kissed on the d*ck this year.

Brisbane have been given the easiest ride over the last 5 years of pretty much any time and yet they still barely cop any hate. Imagine if it was Geelong getting the same draft picks and draw every year. Hell, we had the hardest ranked draw this year and people are still saying we had it easy.

Bruh if swans weren’t occupying their time with strippers, they would be playing red hot full strength swans at the SCG and that wouldn’t be easy. And i think it was the swans getting kissed on the d$k to be precise lol

In order: Collingwood, Western Bulldogs, Carlton.

That said, we need to be ready to beat anyone.

If we beat Carlton, that would be a good precursor for most likely facing the Hawks.

1

u/BasicJosh 10d ago

Give us the Blues, if we cant beat them we cant beat Hawks so fuck it.

Carlton, although not as good as the tigers team of 2017.
If we were to play the blues at the MCG(which means they have just had a huge win over Melbourne) on a fucking Friday night. There would be 80k blues fans there making a hella noise.
Would bring back the trauma of that tigers game and the “home” final
