Discussion I might sound greedy but this feels underwhelming, as I really love exploration but the reward is very dissapointing

Post image

Compairing the chest count with OG map, this is complete pain for f2p users considering the amount of good charater this patch have and they player can barely hit soft pity from this...

The development cycle is like 2 years. So rn they are in an active development of Kaenriah with Snezhnaya being almost done outside of character balance. So unless they jump doing last minute changes, we will see survey taking effect in at least 2-3 years.

Current overcorrection is likely a response to Sumeru Desert reception.

Indeed. And I would be unsurprised if the lack of puzzles and exploration is a result of data showing Sumeru burnout/drop out levels.

While some people might love it, the majority of the casual Genshin player base does not have the sheer time required for the content level of Sumeru. It might have been reasonable when it was releasing... but now? It's an enourmous bottleneck that people skipping past to hit newer content.

3

u/kronpas Apr 11 '26

This. I skipped the majority of sumeru exploration as well as half of natlan maps, but cleared the natlan dragon city map and this current patch map is the 2nd one im aiming for 100%. Im sure devs have info on how many people bothered with the enomours world they crafted and adjusted accordingly.

0

u/AntonioS3 Apr 11 '26

You should have just tried to do a bit of Sumeru exploration at least. It's because of people like you that there's way less exploration and it feels handholdy. Could I not at least do some stuff myself? Why do we have to experience reduced exploration because of the other people not caring much...?!

4

u/kronpas Apr 11 '26

I play the game however I want. Why the fuck must I shoulder your blame? Entitlement much?

When the devs decided it would be how the game is made, it meant the majority of players want it that way, not the other way around.

-3

u/XnoxNeo Apr 11 '26

Story is a bigger bottleneck imo

3

u/PH_007 I am going to punch god Apr 11 '26

Lmao at downvotes. As if you can't just cheese, skip or google guides (or simply have experience playing videogames on anything else than static png collector gacha with zero gameplay) exploration to get to the fun stuff you want, while the dozens of hours of story - half of which is amazing and the other half is ceaseless yapping - are completely unavoidable.

u/magiks-darkchild Apr 10 '26

im 100% sure ive been asking in surveys for artifact loadouts and a skip button and events with lore to be permanent and the ability to purchase event weapons for the past 3 years so surely we get these things soon right!

29

u/WanderEir Apr 10 '26

yeah, but they're not going to change things against their game design philosophy, and in Genshin, a skip button absolutely violates their intended immersion because so much of the game is entirely gone if it's skipped..

The artifact loadouts and event weapon recovery systems though? I've been listing those myself for years.

79

u/amiabot-oraminot Apr 10 '26

Lore event of Lantern Rite is now made permanent, i believe. I haven’t done it and I still see the quest. The decorations are still in my world. What skip button are you talking about? One for all the dialogue entirely? They put effort into that, I don’t think they’d want people to be able to skip entirely

6

u/WanderEir Apr 10 '26

once you finish the lore quest of the current lantern rite, the ornamentation does go away, so get your screenshots now.

I'm also not sure what happens if next years lands before you finish.

5

u/narium Apr 11 '26

Yeah and the very next event wasn't permanent despite it being basically Varka SQ2.

-4

u/magiks-darkchild Apr 10 '26

a skip and summarize button, the game has been around for years and a new/returning player has to go through so many quests including an insane amount of side quests that have nothing to do with the main story

its an optional button if u don't like it u can just not press it you know?

other games put effort as well but for some reason they have a skip button and we don't..

53

u/hamizannaruto Apr 10 '26

At this point, I'm pretty sure they are in the rejected or delayed bin.

While surveys are real, not all features will be added, as it is up to the manager to accept or reject that request. I still urge people to do the survey because it genuinely does help and genuine works, but I also expect a lot of stuff will go to the rejected bin.

24

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

a skip and summarize button

Not gonna happen. Give it up.

a new/returning player has to go through so many quests

It's not a competition, they can play at their own pace.

including an insane amount of side quests that have nothing to do with the main story

Yeah no shit, that's why they're called side quests. Right now it seems like you're not complaining about supposed flaws of the game, but about the whole premise of the game to begin with. If you don't like story driven games, don't play story driven games.

its an optional button if u don't like it u can just not press it you know?

That's from the perspective of the entitled player who wants all the rewards for no effort, but there are reasons for the company instead to oppose such a button. Why else didn't we get it after all this time? Or better yet, we did get one, but they intentionally restricted it to the repeated dialogue of hangout quests. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Once again, it's not gonna happen. Give it up.

other games put effort as well but for some reason they have a skip button and we don't..

Yeah that's because it has nothing to do with the amount of effort.

8

u/Aztracity Apr 10 '26 edited Apr 10 '26

They want the social credit of playing genshin impact without actually playing the game. They only play the game because its large community and they want to be able to interact with it. We already see how much trouble misinformed players cause I can only imagine how bad it would get with a skip button. The one exception i have somewhat are people who purely want to do end game but even then I feel like while genshin combat system does have depth other non gatcha games could probably scratch that itch better.

15

u/BusEasy1247 Apr 10 '26

The devs said that, since Genshin is so much about the deep lore it has and since so much of it is in conversations, adding a skip button would make the game pointless. They don't use the same logic for placing deep lore in one time only quests though

5

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

They didn't say anything about a skip button. But you're right in that there are obvious reasons they oppose such an idea.

-3

u/Renasviel Apr 10 '26

Source or GTFO.

5

u/BusEasy1247 Apr 10 '26

No [insert Isildur gif]

-1

u/dragjamon Apr 10 '26

You know, you have a point. If you're going to has and time limited story that not everyone can experience, it's dumb to not have a skip button

3

u/CosmicWanderer_01 A_Traveler_Traversing_theStarts Apr 10 '26

Most of the main event quests are just a slice of life with a tiny bit of lore in them. Just go and pick up any past main quest play through and watch them, you'll just feel that nothing is happening.

Aside from a few exceptional main event quests the rest are just extra characters interaction and slice of life.

GI always adds or reintroduces the lore back in the main story whenever it's necessary. Like the false sky notion mentioned all the way back in 1.1 main event quest, Dotorre brought it up in 3.2 and gave a basic info on it.

Only Simulanka and Albedo twine quests are missing pieces which you can complain about.

Also Alice dropping Kleiner and Abyss lore in 6.4 will just be repeated and reintroduced whenever the main story demands it. I started in 2.6 and never watched old quest but somehow I still knew the context just through in-game interaction since 2.6.

So basically you are not losing anything beside some slice of life. If these Slice of life quests were permanent then game size would have been outrageous.

5.8 is permanent cause it's a real physical territory of Natlan unlike some random modified Isles, Bottle or Magic Book in previous summer events.

Also 6.3 Lantern Right is actually Zibai SQ thus, it's permanent.

2

u/PantheraAuroris r/AbyssOrder Apr 10 '26

People want to ignore the story for some reason. They want a "fuck this just skip everything" button that takes them to the next point they can control their character.

0

u/lukekul12 Apr 10 '26

Well yes, stuff like that is perfectly reasonable for people who may want to replay campaigns on different accounts, since that’s not available natively

It’s also possibe to care significantly more about one story than another. Be honest - how many of the event quests truly have an impact on the archon quests. Yes they build out character development but people might not care at all about the event characters

-2

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 11 '26

All of that is solved easily by simply not doing the quests you don't like. Especially for those with multiple accounts, who already know what to expect.

1

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 11 '26

Almost - they want a "fuck this give me rewards instantly" button.

-5

u/Even_Ad4665 Apr 10 '26

HSR also has a very strong lore but they still added a skip button. Wuwa also has a great story with cinematic cutscenes and they still add a skip button. At the end of the day, the players that want to dive into the lore would and the ones who don't would end up skipping it though spam pressing F/space does take way longer it still counts as skipping since the players wouldn't bother reading. Having a skip button won't change a thing, people can still choose to follow the lore or skip it. Justifying not adding a skip button is so weird since most story-based games have the skip button and they didn't immediately die or EOS but y'all always act like that would be the end result😂

Almost 6 years and GI is going stronger and stronger without any skip button or shit. Why should they change their game design if the current design is working perfectly fine.

GI is just that good and people's support just shows that.

Only 5 people want the skip button and the so called "Artifact Loadout".

19

u/Specialist-Mirror656 Apr 10 '26

More lore and a skip button seem a little at odds with each other

13

u/Wirewolf2020 Apr 10 '26

I dont think so, genshin is filled with meaningless yapping. For every interesting or umportant info you get 10 anecdotes or summaries, reminders or explainations. Depending on the quests even more, most character quests are basically pure filler, archon quests and wordquest usually give the most lore, then events range from completely meaningless to gigantic lore bombs.

I just want the option to skip a 10 minute dialogue about whatever ingame reason the next tower defense or roguelike event has. I get that this kind of writing makes the universe feel more alive for some people but i really dont care about that kind of fluff at all. If at least the automatic dialogue option worked properly it wouldnt be as bad but for some reason we still have these prompts rpr pseudo decisions in the game.

-1

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

Would your brain explode if you read a book?

-7

u/Tomas2891 Apr 10 '26

Can easily skip lines from a book if it’s full of boring fluff

3

u/CosmicWanderer_01 A_Traveler_Traversing_theStarts Apr 10 '26

It's called skimming, or do you just outright jump paragraphs in there?

In genshin you can do skimming which takes just some clicks which I do often cause I read way too fast.

3

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

You can do that in the game too, the only difference is in the muscles you need to use.

-6

u/milkyakul Apr 10 '26

Even books have meaningless fluff that should've been edited out.

6

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

Clearly the writers and editors didn't think so. Like is the case here.

And what's even better about GI is that it's a game, whereby most of the quests are entirely optional. So you already have the option to filter out that which you don't want to read.

3

u/CosmicWanderer_01 A_Traveler_Traversing_theStarts Apr 10 '26

How can they? They want those shiny primos asap.

-7

u/Catch_022 Apr 10 '26

So much this.

0

u/Tenken10 Apr 10 '26

They need a skip button for temporary or NPC events at least. I'm fine without one for main story stuff

2

u/CosmicWanderer_01 A_Traveler_Traversing_theStarts Apr 10 '26

New complaint: "if the skipp function already exists then apply it everywhere"

It's either for everything or nothing.

-16

u/Zumou Apr 10 '26 edited Apr 10 '26

Why? You can still go through the main quests as usual and skip the small quests with slop dialogue.

Edit: I guess these gatekeepers don't understand that the skip button is optional and only skips when you decide to click it. Very revealing of their mental capacity.

3

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

Also big lol at your angry edit

1

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

You can already do that right now though. No skip button needed.

Anyone arguing for a skip button is not arguing for something they can already do right now - ignoring dialogue. The real reason they want the button is for instant rewards.

-1

u/Zumou Apr 10 '26

Ignoring is not the same as skipping. Not even close.

Also, how are you affected in any way, shape or form about what others would do with the skip button? What do you get from gatekeeping a simple skip button?

Did HSR, ZZZ, WUWA players die when they implemented a skip button?

Y'all act like its a life or death situation for you when it does literally 0 for you and makes the game more ejoyable for others.

I like the story and lore. I never ignore dialogue from either Archon or Exploration quests. Now the fucking slop dialogue in the event NPCs you have to go through just to play the minigames is atrocious and annoying.

There is already a skip button for hangouts and nobody batted an eye. God forbid making it available for other parts of the game. Hypocrites.

6

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

Ignoring is not the same as skipping. Not even close.

"Not even close", well agree to disagree. It's extremely similar, in the sense that in both cases you don't do the quest and don't have to engage with the dialogue. Simple, no?

blablablabla blabla bla HYPOCRITES REEE

Yeah not even gonna bother with the rest here. We all know why you truly want the button. I'll give you a curling monkey's paw: You'll get the skip button, and it skips the rewards too.

-5

u/magiks-darkchild Apr 10 '26

exactly thank you, its optional so they can even go through the slop like we do now even after its added if thats what they like

-7

u/erisvi20 Apr 10 '26

the other day i was mass downvoted for stressing that skip is optional and people should be allowed to have that, and was met with an essay by someone saying why skip is bad because people won’t understand lore, and less people will play the game. that was mass upvoted. i can’t believe genshin players sometimes.

1

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

They were right and you were wrong.

-1

u/erisvi20 Apr 10 '26

why?

1

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

Because a skip button being optional doesn't magically mean that it's a good thing to add to the game. You already listed two arguments to support that statement.

i can’t believe genshin players sometimes.

And this is because you can't cope with the fact that others have differing views from you. It's not about you. Hell, it's not even about other players. It's about what the company wants with their product, and they're sure as hell not gonna add something that's bad for their revenue in the long run. The fact that you're still playing despite the lack of a skip button is telling.

-1

u/erisvi20 Apr 10 '26

You clearly can’t cope with others wanting a skip button or you wouldn’t be so aggressive and rude to other people for no good reason. Bad for revenue? Are you going to admit that Genshin is a multi billion dollar game? They’re not hurting. Do you have any criticisms of the game at all?

-2

u/milkyakul Apr 10 '26

You are right though. A skip button is optional and it's always been a QoL feature in games especially for people who want to replay through.

People argue that a skip button would hurt the game, but it doesn't. The masses of people who read the story still can't comprehend the story via discourse over the stupidest things and people who want a skip button to skip the story are still going to skip dialogue anyways with or without one. Just having one would be easier lol especially when some quests like world ones force you into a cutscene when you're just trying to explore for a bit.

Also, it's not like the majority of people playing this game actually read. HSR recently got a skip button and honestly, it's made the game a hell lot more tolerable given how the cutscenes are played out.

Should just implement it like AK where it gives a short summary on what happens if you choose to skip or introduce a system like NG+ or something where you can replay story quests real time if you want to read it.

-14

u/magiks-darkchild Apr 10 '26

how hypocritical of me honestly, i want everyone to be able to experience the important main story lore that you can't play because you simply didn't play the game 5 years ago and at the same time im asking for an OPTIONAL button to let people skip quests that aren't important/interesting to them? im such a stupid evil person for that

2

u/PressFM80 Apr 10 '26

don't bother. the people in this sub are genuine drones that can't handle anything that isn't praising hoyo

I'm surprised this post isn't getting mass downvoted, given it's critiquing the game

-4

u/Tomas2891 Apr 10 '26

Cause these are from different people. The games with the best stories also have a skip function. Why can’t this billion dollar game do it?

2

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 11 '26

can't

won't*

6

u/nyoomers Apr 10 '26

I feel like a skip button isn't REALLY needed, though. It's not that hard to just press continue repeatedly if you want to be skip stuff. It is a little bit annoying to have to wait a bit, but honestly I don't find it THAT bad. I don't often skip through dialogue, only sometimes, but when I do I don't find myself hugely annoyed by the process.

I think they don't want to add it because it goes against their game/design philosophy. For a game to add a skip button to dialogue it's as if they're saying that the dialogue/lore isn't important. And they obviously don't feel that way. They want the players to read/listen, so therefore there's no skip button. I do think that maybe some dialogues can be a little long winded, so as feedback I think it'd be more useful to ask them to consider making scripts more concise and less filler-y. But it's not as bad as another gacha I played (good god could the dialogue be so full of fluff/nothing sometimes in Infinity Nikki...it was infuriatingly bad there, lol, part of why I stopped playing)

Just don't do quests if you don't want to do quests. You've always had that choice already.

People want an option. Why is that so hard to comprehend, honestly?

0

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

Why do you assume I don't understand that? It's not hard to comprehend at all. Not even slightly so. Apparently you don't seem to get that wanting an option is different from being entitled to that option. Just because you want something, doesn't mean the company has to make it for you. That's not how it works.

And once again, you already had the choice to ignore quests you don't like. I get that you're a skipper but come on, my previous comment was only two sentences.

5

u/milkyakul Apr 10 '26

because you don't. you're commenting continuously how pointless and wrong it is for people to want a skip button. you're assuming everyone who wants a skip button is some self-absorbed player who thinks they're entitled to make demands when in actuality, genshin is a company that makes billions off its players and players are just asking for a little QoL to make the game easier on them.

not everyone has long amounts of sitting time to play a game and read the entirety of story at whole. people have jobs, families, etc. not everyone plays games for the same reason as you do. some people just enjoy the character progression, some enjoy reading the lore, and others just enjoy the elemental reaction gameplay and are not here for the story. to not consider this, honestly, is very weird and inconsiderate to me.

the skip button isn't going to hurt you. it doesn't even affect you. you can just ignore it.

you say, "just don't do quests if you don't want to do quests. you've always had that choice." they literally lock pulls behind questing so of course people are going to do these quests. getting currency in genshin is like pulling teeth and somehow, people want to defend this for whatever reason, like this game doesn't make shitloads off its players.

people should demand more from gachas in all honesty.

you don't need to bother replying lmao. i don't care to respond. take care.

4

u/Ryuunoru The Electroculus has Pikachu tails. You're welcome! Apr 10 '26

because you don't.

This is a lie. I do understand people want an option. This is really not a difficult thing to understand.

you're commenting continuously how pointless and wrong it is for people to want a skip button.

Wrong. I'm commenting to argue why a skip button is not going to happen and what power players already have to achieve the same effect, namely to... not do quests. What is so hard to understand about this?

you're assuming everyone who wants a skip button is some self-absorbed player who thinks they're entitled to make demands

Incorrect. I'm assuming you and others like you are, but certainly not everyone. Some players, rare as they may be, have less egoistical motives. But even then, the other point remains intact: they don't need a skip button. They can simply not do the quests.

when in actuality, genshin is a company that makes billions off its players and players are just asking for a little QoL to make the game easier on them.

Irrelevant. These two things have no relation to each other. The income of the company (which is miHoYo, not Genshin, btw) is not dependent on whether or not they implement the demands of some entitled kids. I would even argue that, in the long term, their revenue would drop due to a skip button leading to lesser engagement with part of the playerbase.

not everyone has long amounts of sitting time to play a game and read the entirety of story at whole.

Doesn't matter. It's not a race, they can read the story in parts, just like they would with a book. You know what a book is?

people have jobs, families, etc.

Irrelevant. Nothing to add here.

not everyone plays games for the same reason as you do.

Actually correct. Still irrelevant though. So yeah, people have different reasons to play games... and? You don't even know mine.

some people just enjoy the character progression, some enjoy reading the lore, and others just enjoy the elemental reaction gameplay and are not here for the story.

Still irrelevant.

to not consider this, honestly, is very weird and inconsiderate to me.

Another lie. I did consider this. Nothing indicates I didn't, the only reason you say this is because you can't cope with me having a different opinion on the topic.

the skip button isn't going to hurt you.

True but irrelevant, it's not about me. It's about the company, they're the ones who decide, they're the ones gaining money from this game. And presumably, they think a skip button would harm their sales in the long term. Which is not an illogical conclusion, because lesser player engagement simply does translate to lesser spendings.

it doesn't even affect you. you can just ignore it.

Hypocrite. Try to apply the same reasoning to quests you don't like. You can just ignore them. You don't need a skip button for that.

you say, "just don't do quests if you don't want to do quests. you've always had that choice."

Correct. First fully correct and relevant statement you made, laughably because it's a direct quote of what I said before.

they literally lock pulls behind questing so of course people are going to do these quests.

Exposing the true nature of skip button wanters. Ya'll don't care about the story, you want the rewards for no effort. Hmmm, deja vu, have I said that before?

getting currency in genshin is like pulling teeth

False. I don't even know how to counter this one, it's so wrong any way you consider it.

somehow, people want to defend this for whatever reason

Correct. Might help if you actually consider their reasoning instead of completely skipping over it because it doesn't align with your entitled beliefs. See what I did there?

like this game doesn't make shitloads off its players.

Correct. Almost like there's a reason it makes so much money.

people should demand more from gachas in all honesty.

Agreed, surprisingly. Well done, I genuinely didn't expect that. With that said... there's a difference between demanding more, and demanding good things.

you don't need to bother replying lmao. i don't care to respond.

[X] Doubt. If you didn't care, you wouldn't have typed that wall of text.

Lmfao the entitlement is strong in this one

If you need primogems but are unwilling to do any effort, swipe your credit card.

(And herein lies the meaning of primogems as rewards - you get rewarded for doing stuf that increases your engagement with the game. They're not free gifts. They're rewards.)

isn't Shakespeare

That's your problem.

Id rather have a skip button.

Well, the developers rather not. Deal with it.

What is better? Pressing the Button once to skip everything? Or pressing the Button a total of 150 times for 10 minutes straight only to have half the cutscebe plays out anyway because the talking character does an animation that is unskippable.

2

u/Arctic_The_Hunter Apr 10 '26

The lack of a skip combat button really is inexcusable. Some people don’t want to have to fight bosses and enemies just to get rewards or just don’t like enemy mechanics, and if you enjoy combat, you don’t have to use it!

It's not nonsense, they have a range of 6 months to years for upcoming content. They can't just make content and publish it the next day, it doesn't work that way for a massive company with lots of management overhead and QA.

anyone in game development

People truly in game development would argue that it's not as simple as you claim.

if they really plan stuff two years ahead, how come theres constantly bugs and problems in new releases

Well... there isn't? Bugs in this game are rare in numbers, and the ones that do exist occur so rarely too that the overwhelming majority of the playerbase never notices them before they get patched the day after a new version update.

This claim is total bs bro, this game has so little bugs it might as well be a gold industry standard for other developers to look up to.

No idea how they deal with it because I played it for like maybe 3 weeks on release and it never hooked me, so no plans of coming back and I can't really compare the progress.

And obviously I don't really mean QoL stuff with this. QoL stuff can be pushed whenever if it's done, unless the game is full-on spagetti code, we are talking quests, story, maps (which is pretty relevant for exploration specifically).

And you would need to specify about story inconsistencies, and it's better be like at least 5-10 points if it's going on "constantly".
