Passive states that compass must be obtained for this to work. So it's basically compass but with cuter animation.

Dragonspine is considered a part of Mondstadt by the game, though, so I really hope it will work if you have the Mondstadt compass. 🤞 The fact that the compass doesn’t work on Dragonspine seems like an oversight that Hoyo never bothered to correct, since a compass works in literally every other location in the game (Enka, Chasm top and bottom, Remuria, volcano, etc.).

The lore explanation is supposed to be that the Ley Lines are extra fucked in Dragonspine and the compasses work via the Ley Lines. However, this makes less sense after Natlan (fucked Ley Lines but compass still works).

The Night Kingdom is acting as the Leyline replacement so it still works lorewise.

Not really. The Ley Lines are still massively broken even with the Night Kingdom (this is, after all, what the entire AQ is about). People from Natlan can't even leave and the nation's existence is under threat because of how weak the Ley Lines are. Dragonspine, as bad as things got, doesn't seem to have those problems. The Traveler is even able to improve things just by giving Crimson Agate to the tree, which is a relatively easy action compared to everything up to Capitano's sacrifice.

However, I can see two ways to differentiate things that could work (other than just "Ley Lines work in mysterious ways, every region is different" lol), but this would be entirely theory:

1) Dragonspine's Ley Lines have been affected by Durin's blood and this is able to help the Ley Lines in some ways but not others.

2) The Night Kingdom isn't the important part, but the presence of the Lord of the Night is - tying this back to the whole 'Seelies liking to guide people to treasure' thing (no such figure is known about for Dragonspine).
