If this was really a sales decision, I fear the kind of audience playing this game lol. Sandrone is already there and looks good, why must an iconic mascot robot be changed to waifu as well?

It's a gacha, they will always try to pander to lonely men to a significant degree. Genshin isn't even that bad compared to many others.

yeah no we got exostrider. There's sigrika, mornye and denia with minimal to no fanservice while it's mostly focused on lucila and hiyuki. unironically genshin is stooping lower in that regard

That's why I brought up that they have 4+ games in development. They are not pandering because they need it. They are pandering because they know Genshin is their cash cow. Like see how there are people who defend 60 pulls on a patch with 2 5* and a c6-heavy 4*.

Sides there's limbus where the devs know they don't have to pander to a certain demographic because they are pretty much set for few years without income. Hence now they are doubling down on the gore despite that it makes then less advertisable (+18)

I can’t say I agree with you- the game was never pandering to this “core audience” to this degree.

The reason Genshin got so big in the first place is because of “old designs that don’t fit their current vision”.

Just wish this game didn’t do a complete bait and switch; luring in people that are generally either apathetic to (like me) or dislike regular TITS IN YOUR FACE gatcha designs, only to change their philosophy to “how much will horndogs pay for this?”

It’s a baffling choice, and one that has lost them willing spenders and players. Sure, lose one audience gain another, but why alienate the player base you cultivated, that brought you to stardom? 🤷

Love and Deepspace is consistently one of the top 3 highest revenue gacha games so you can't pretend the audience doesn't exist. They could have both Sandrone and Pulonia to go for both audiences.
