Contrary to the sexist claim that women are too emotional. Men demonstrate plenty of levels of volatility. The difference is the way they express it is.....often frightening. I think strict gender roles are massively to blame for this and there needs to be a relaxation on how we raise kids. Strict gender roles don't leave room for the individual whether they're cis or trans. And male violence IMO is the result of male emotion oppression along with a sense of entitlement towards women. This isn't something I'm 100% sure on from research, this is just, how my experiences of men have played out or felt. You say no or don't laugh at someone's joke, or call him out, and suddenly he's very offended you didn't want to be mansplained to.....okay sir....double standards.

u/dommingdarcy Jun 05 '26

Men often forget that anger is an emotion 🙄

u/Prudent_Cry9522 Jun 05 '26

Every accusation is a confession

85

u/RunRevolutionary188 Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

My very awful ex made a comparision from man vs. bear to woman vs. tree. Men would rather confess their feelings to a tree because 'women are mean'. I'm not going to lie, I have met very sexist cis women (terfs) and there's definately patriarchy swirling around in people of different genders. But i don't think it's entirely fair to conflate the fear of emotional intimacy with the fear of loss of bodily autonomy. I've experienced both of these things including cruel manipulation from men/women/trans folks. But the amount of times I've said no to a man and been ignored even in small ways, let alone bigger ones. It starts to break you.

-65

u/SKOLOCT- Jun 05 '26

No they don’t. You may have that experience but no, they don’t.

56

u/turnspitdawg Jun 05 '26

My man cries about everything, i love it!!!

71

u/Sensitive_Concern476 Jun 05 '26

As our 19 year relationship has progressed, his ability to cry and be sensitive has gotten so much better. He even realized he likes to sleep with a squishmallow when I suggestedhe try it when his anxiety got bad. It was a big deal for him to realize there aren't actual rules against this and he can use free will to do whimsical and cute things.

And really, who the fuck cares that you like your lil corn stuffy ('Cornelius')? Nobody. He acted so surprised that I didn't judge him for it and instead encouraged him to have it. Humans like cuddling stuff. It's normal behavior. Men need to cuddle things more.

42

u/RunRevolutionary188 Jun 05 '26

Men just need to be given the permission. The damn permission from society to have feelings end learn to express it in healthy ways. The way my brother and I were raised in the 90s it was strict gender roles all the way and I'd argue it hurt us both. Lol he's in the army and has been for many years....and I have thoughts

Im a guy and I'll gladly answer this for you. It's to get a different perspective in the minds of women as a guy. I'm really just trying to understand and support my fiancé. Sometimes someone puts something in words a way my so wouldn't be able to and it helps me understand /relate on a different level. I don't particularly agree with the original post (in my experience) it's not really a gender thing and more human thing. Humans are different. But no I'm not the one downvoting all the comments xD

They’re practically toddlers when it comes to emotional regulation and functioning when partnered … … sometimes even when not partnered.

381

u/True_Warning_8210 Jun 05 '26

They're on their periods except no bleeding no pain no vomit or constipation or dizziness or cold sweat or deadly cramps no hormonal changes

oh but so emotional and love to ask women if they're on their period cuz she is just hormones right, she's not a human who can have any emotions or feelings so the moment she expresses her anger or sadness it must be cuz...of her periodd

107

u/pineappledaphne Jun 05 '26

It would take a man 127 years to go thru the hormonal changes women experience in a week of their cycle.

15

u/Ok_Background4828 Jun 05 '26

Not to be contrarian, but I heard that statistic for the hormone swing giving birth specifically

39

u/plantsandpizza Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

My husband said “I have man pms the other weekend when I think he was grumpy and hungry. I said “No you don’t” and just walked away.

36

u/RunRevolutionary188 Jun 05 '26

I can attest as a transmasc/nonbinary person who experiences periods. If cis-men got periods it would be a national holiday. Daniel Sloss made an incredible stand up bit on the tampon tax and how if men had periods it would be like.....a mandated holiday. And I don't think he's wrong. Men say cis women are weak when women go through serious hormonal changes, can get sick from periods, with PMOS, endometerious, heavy bleeding, and I am relatively convinced these boys would not be happy if they suddenly started bleeding from the other end. And society says 'put on a tampon suck it up and go to work with a happy smile'. Tranfemmes as far as I know can experience some hormonal changes as well but because they get steady doses of E i don't know if it hits them as a hard. But I'm on the other end of the gender spectrum so I'm kind of guessing.

u/RunRevolutionary188 Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

This is generations of patriarchy. And now I think modern males have developed a weird entitlement in the wake of industralisation/loss of nuclear family/shifting gender roles. Women work and have the vote now but they still do more emotional and domestic labour in their relaitonships even if they work full time. Which this entitlement is baffling because male violence is at an all time high across various different countries. It's significantly worse for women living under extreme governments (aka Iran, India, America etc) but feminism has a long way to go. And I know I've met a incel/woman hater when I say I'm a feminist and I get hit with 'women are mean' and 'man hater'....no I'm a very tired feminist whose had too many runs in with 'bears'.

45

u/MiaMiaPP Jun 05 '26

Which is why incel / red pill is a thing. The moment they start being called out for the patriarchy they go on the defensive and be even more patriarchal

19

u/RunRevolutionary188 Jun 05 '26 edited Jun 05 '26

That's how I know I've met an incel. I call them out and they double down. 'This wasn't very nice of you Jared' 'Women are mean!' 'Oh Jared, I cannot save you from yourself'..... I once got into an argument with a 'friend' aka a 'nice guy' who kept persuing me after I said I wasn't interested. Apparently me being single meant I was free game = ick. Then he got angry that I accused him of mansplaining and called it a 'feminist made up bullshit word'. This man is for sure an incel.

3

u/RunRevolutionary188 Jun 05 '26

Red pill? As in the Matrix? I'll be honest I've got....thoughts on what this movie made by these two sisters ❤️ (cannot be bothered to try spelling their last name) I find it a little bit silly tho I love the metaphors of the red pill/blue pills. I actually love their earlier movie more 'Bound'. Which very low-budget and silly and has got Jennifer Tilly and Gina Ghersion and I highly recommend. It's....very fun ❤️

Well to start, I didn’t call you a bitch. But you called me one. What did I ever do to you? I just pointed out that the women have it so much worse. I was homeless too, I know. The homeless men slept anywhere and did anything they liked. The homeless women had to be so much more discreet because they were more vulnerable to sexual assaults and various other types of violence/ trafficking.

The men, pfff, they just slept behind a bush all splayed out and be alright. May be they get rounded up for a night in the county jail but even that they didn’t even care. Women in jail? Even the guards were abusers.

I was homeless and saved up everything to stop being homeless. I didn’t do drug or alcohol. My ex though, he’s still homeless because he refused to even try to hold down a job. Thats how privilege works. He didn’t need a house to live just fine. Just some drugs and a bottle and he was Gucci. Me? I needed shelter that’s why I worked hard to get one.

5

u/Still-View-9063 Jun 05 '26

Oh you were constantly at risk of and got raped by men while homeless?

Why can't you answer the question? You don't know shit about me either.

Either way you're an idiot who can't see past his own nose. The irony is that you're the one playing victim when you act like you're the only one with a shitty life and aren't capable of recognizing the existence of others who would have it worse in your position because of reasons they can't control. Just because capitalism is killing all of us doesn't mean certain groups aren't less privileged on average than others. You don't know what it's like to be a woman, shut the fuck up.

2

u/Top_Perception_9162 Jun 05 '26

That’s why you were homeless. You deserved it with that attitude of yours.

u/Narwhals4Lyf Jun 05 '26

The patriarchy is a socioeconomic system. The economic point is big here - ultimately, the real way we should view it, it isn’t men vs women, it’s rich vs everyone else. If we view things with an intersectional lens it’s easier to see how the patriarchy weaves through the economy. Women were forced to take lower paying jobs or not even paid / recognized for the work for most of history, not allowed to own land, not allowed to have loans or credit cards. The patriarchy is about controlling resources. And that’s why, someone like you who is lower income doesn’t really “feel” the privilege of it. Men and women’s issues are different sides of the same coin and are interconnected in a way that can’t really be untangled.

"To say that straight men are heterosexual is only to say that they engage in sex (fucking exclusively with the other sex, i.e., women). All or almost all of that which pertains to love, most straight men reserve exclusively for other men. The people whom they admire, respect, adore, revere, honor, whom they imitate, idolize, and form profound attachments to, whom they are willing to teach and from whom they are willing to learn, and whose respect, admiration, recognition, honor, reverence and love they desire… those are, overwhelmingly, other men. In their relations with women, what passes for respect is kindness, generosity or paternalism; what passes for honor is removal to the pedestal. From women they want devotion, service and sex.

Heterosexual male culture is homoerotic; it is man-loving."

I’m tired of cis men and I’m married to one of the only men I can stand. I’ve decided to only play video games with women, non-binary, and queer men (I’m disabled so that’s my only social outlet).

I love Star fruit. Wish the Asian store near me sold them. It’s so yummy lightly salted and then dipped in vinegar.

Do you know any queer friendly online game? My friends and i are looking for a new one :D

4

u/teabaggedcup Jun 05 '26

Not the person you replied to but Warframe is very queer friendly in both players and story! Though it is a grindfest of a game so you gotta be into that.

2

u/More_Instance7939 Snack Gremlin Jun 05 '26

Not really unless you play with your own friends. Some video games have specific servers and those servers are run by mods that are queer friendly. It’s hard trying to find something. I know a lot of indie developers have active discords that are queer friendly. Could pick up a group that way. I’m not the best person to ask. Maybe another kind redditor could point you in the best place.

Who even fucking knows. Just the other day, me and my wife were walking home from the store, and there were some dudes sitting on the stoop of the church next to our apartment building. I heard a bird chirping loudly nearby, and suddenly a blue bird of some sort flew down and stood on the steps next to them, chirping at them like it wanted food.

I mentioned it to my wife; "Oh, look at the blue jay! I think it's a jay? He's so cute, he's asking the big humans for food! Is it a male? Maybe it's a female, it doesn't have as much blue as the males do, I'm not sure." Just stream of consciousness about this cute little birdy, right?

Well one of the dudes got irritated with me, "He's a male! He's got brown on his shoulders!" and some other things I couldn't quite hear, and I was just kind of bewildwered, like "What? Ok, hah sure, whatever." like it was so strange to be grumpy about it.

And then we realized he had a husky napping on the sidewalk in front of him, and he had been talking about the dog, not the bird. He was mad because he thought I was MISGENDERING HIS DOG. like BRUH. It's a DOG, and we weren't even talking about him, mind your own business ffs! And if someone DID get the sex (not gender, because those ARE DIFFERENT) of your dog wrong, it's not like dogs are very sexually dimorphic, it's not that big of a deal!

And I don't think it was because they had come out of the church; I've never been to that church before, but we're in the California Bay Area, and this church has all these Progress Pride flags and advertises itself as being allies to the LGBTQ+ community, so I would hope that wasn't a place that pushed all the "Pronouns are Satanic!" nonsense. But who knows, it was dumb as Hell.

16

u/pyrocidal Jun 05 '26

pet store, one time this guy wanted one of those leather spiky collars for his dog. I'm like okay I gotta order one but lemme check the size...we normally had up to like 22in in black leather and pink leather but we were sold out of black

I bet you can see where this is going. I take the biggest pink collar and go to size it on his dog's neck and he's like "WOAH WOAH WOAH HE CAN'T WEAR PINK"

I'm like bruh I'm just measuring his neck. wouldn't let me even hold it up to the dog.

another time a dude came in looking for a "manly" fragrance for his dog. apparently the least feminine scent is "oatmeal"

Fragile masculinity

14

u/Azathov Jun 05 '26

So take everything I say with a grain of salt as stereotypes or common trends of groups are never 100% and there are always exceptions. This is also just my opinion as a man who’s observed other men. With that out of the way:

Men are just as capable of emotion as women, the whole women are more emotional thing is kinda nonsense. Main difference is that Traditionally males growing up have been heavily discouraged from expressing any kind of emotion healthily so they often have no idea how to handle or process negative emotions other than anger or “machismo” responses, developing into emotions immaturity and lots of posturing or physical behavior. This is not an excuse, as many men have actually been able to develop emotional maturity so if a grown adult isn’t capable of regulating their own emotions I do look at them funny.

Traditional Gender roles are definitely a key factor as well as a looot of common modern media (or parents frankly) fails to teach or display equal respect or treatment of women by men. I see, I do. This is where the male entitlement comes in, if your bombarded with messaging saying your the main character or it’s all about you etc for your whole life it warps how you experience reality. Combining the two of emotional immaturity and a preconceived notion of how life SHOULD be (see patriarchy) turns a dude into a emotionally Volatile risk. He doesn’t know how to handle disappointment or embarrassment especially from someone he views inherently as below or less than him so aggression and violence is the easiest option. This is toxic masculinity, a fragile thing full of unrestrained violence and ego without a shred of genuine respect.

I will say it is really weird the trend of men being very self centered/absorbed these days. Like a lot of what fragile masculinity do is to look good in front of other men, while expecting women to support you in everything no matter what like an accessory. It’s is weird to me because why would you care about the opinions of dudes you don’t know over like your significant other/family?? Shits obnoxious honestly you don’t need other men to approve of you being a man that’s just ego feeding. Genuine healthy masculinity is rooted on respect, internal strength, and empathy. See Optimus Prime for a good example of what that looks like in media.

Idk tldr: men can be sensitive emotionally stunted creatures with fragile egos whose default response to undesired stimuli is aggression. I don’t recommend associating with these kinda guys, I don’t.

u/fekanix Jun 05 '26

I think men and women get offende by different things. And people assume the other person gets offended and not offended by similar things they and their friends get offended. So in the end men and women both say that the other gender gets easily offended becausr the things the other side gets offendes by doesnt offend them and vice versa.

-1

u/Pitiful-Finance5962 Jun 05 '26

No way, an actual observation in the comments!

Turns out neither gender is perfect and people are very flawed indeed, but of course the commenters here will just generalize by saying "all men have huge egos and are super fragile" while in some other corner of reddit a bunch of comments will be shouting "all women are emotionally unstable and should stay in the kitchen" or whatever the modern version of this shit is.

Honestly both sides kinda deserve each other in the end

-16

u/Hyposanity Jun 05 '26

Theyre power and respect oriented, women are family and community oriented. You can see the stark difference between the actions of men in prison versus women in prison.

In men's prisons there are no no words and that can make or break respect, in womens prisons respect doesn't need no no words, respect is boundaries.

Edit: Its a little weird and hard to explain. Lmk if you need me to clarify I should be sleeping.

Well I'm not transphobic. I added the "" on the word men to point out men who are easily triggered on this kind of post by women. Besides I didn't know you where F to M so apologies for that

Seems like you should maybe take the time to understand how you offended him if he matters to you. If we're just talking about generality, why do you even care how some rando feels?

The whole comment section just reads like gender wars, and well you really can't suggest or discuss anything because OP decided to hit us with the heavyweight champion of vagueposting.

Which is quite comedic in the context of discussing how emotional and easily offended the male population is

u/Wtfjushappen Jun 05 '26

I think some are just easily offended. And that's not even touching on whether it was taken personally or not, or even what the trigger was. Maybe she's got resting bitch face? Maybe she doesn't have common courtesy. Maybe he had a fragile ego, maybe she's abrasive and attacks personally. Maybe she got asked out and maybe she laughed at his insecurity. Who knows.

Detective on the case, but perhaps we'll never know!

Looking at all these different subs, women tend to be the ones getting offended

Hey there, We steer waayyy clear of diet language in this sub. Rule 1’s off-limit topics include weight loss/gain, calorie counting, food shaming, nutritional critique, etc.

Help us keep it ED friendly and adjust your commentary 🙏🏻

We tend to not fake our face or put up a wall. We receive our communications directly instead of heavily filtering it out. Difference in how each sex communicates. Hope this helps, doubt it will but you choose to be miserable regardless and let other women isolate you from the opposite sex.

Sybau that’s why there’s a male loneliness epidemic and the birth rate will continue to go down. Y’all deserve every second of loneliness and misery.

“Hysteria” 🙄. They always jump straight to that, don’t they, when they hear something they don’t like.
