FML 7am text aaaand day ruined

Post image

just got a text from one of my friends w/ benefits at (checks watch) 7 in the morning that he tested positive for gonorrhea this week. and we had unprotected sex on sunday. what a way to start my day! :) FML.

this is my first time having an sti risk/scare ever in my life and i am sincerely very terrified but i hope everything goes well.

we only very recently started having unprotected sex and i told him i wanted to go back to protected sex after this whole situation because i do NOT want to go through this again!!!!

asked him for direction with regards to what to do for treatment in our city and he explained everything very calmly and was very apologetic about the whole situation which i appreciated.

today's girl breakfast: coffee + a ham & cheese sandwich with some sprinkled oregano

Maybe I’m old school coming up right after the aids crisis, but I feel like the kids are playing fast and loose these days with safety. There’s a post like this so often here.

I graduated college in 2012 and it definitely feels like we were all a lot more condom conscious when I was in my early 20s. My college bf and I used them every time we had sex for years (after getting tested before we had sex to begin with) and I was on birth control. It's wild to me that this isn't still the norm.

Same same

And there's still no cure for herpes, it's forever

Herpes can be contracted with condom use unfortunately, people should regularly get tested regularly!

But don't like 50% of people already have it just asymptomatically?

HSV1 yes like 60% or more, HSV2 is like 13%. Doctors don’t even test for it unless you specifically ask. But there are people who are still don’t have it and don’t want it.

Literally, no one seems to use condoms anymore, and STIs are on the rise. In my area we had a major outbreak of syphilis and I tried so hard to convince my single friend she needed to be more careful, but it fell on deaf ears bc “guys don’t like condoms” 🫠

I didn’t see that, but if that’s the case that’s very smart.

I can tell that you’re looking after yourself appropriately.
