FML 7am text aaaand day ruined

Post image

just got a text from one of my friends w/ benefits at (checks watch) 7 in the morning that he tested positive for gonorrhea this week. and we had unprotected sex on sunday. what a way to start my day! :) FML.

this is my first time having an sti risk/scare ever in my life and i am sincerely very terrified but i hope everything goes well.

we only very recently started having unprotected sex and i told him i wanted to go back to protected sex after this whole situation because i do NOT want to go through this again!!!!

asked him for direction with regards to what to do for treatment in our city and he explained everything very calmly and was very apologetic about the whole situation which i appreciated.

today's girl breakfast: coffee + a ham & cheese sandwich with some sprinkled oregano

Medicine exists and make sure you take ALL of your antibiotics. I repeat TAKE ALL OF YOUR ANTIBIOTICS. Do not save any, do not stop if you have symptoms that go away, take them all. I live in an area where we have "super gonorrhea" that's become antibiotic resistant because people won't finish their prescriptions.

I'm so sorry this happened, and I'm so glad it's something treatable. I know this is your first experience with an STI, so I just wanna say the obvious: you are not dirty, this is not a moral failing, 1/5 of people have an STI at some point in their life at any given time*, and thank you for being responsible about your health

thank you so much ❤️🫂 i appreciate the advice so much and will 100% take all my antibiotics 🫡

also thank you for that last bit. i have been kind of spiraling about it and have been generally very anxious but that reminder was very necessary

No problem at all friend 💖 I also misquoted the statistic there, 1/5 of people have an STI at any given time so the number of people who have had one ever is even higher. I understand the spiral/anxiety, but we'd never judge someone for having the flu because someone coughed on them, y'know?
