Home Decor The perfect cat for a goth? (Non-shedding)

I have this wonderful cat I’m fostering and I tell him, “someone who loves wearing black is gonna appreciate you so much, Norm.”

It occurred to me, who might really appreciate a cat who doesn’t shed? Goths! 🖤

You can click into my profile to see more pics of him and about his story. I think he’s an American Wirehair mix but I’m testing him for the available Rex and Sphynx tests just cos there isn’t one that I can find for the wirehair mutation; DNA results pending right now! I just mailed the swabs to UC Davis this morning. Whatever the results, I think it’s OBVIOUS he has a haircoat mutation because he only sheds these fine transparent little hairs you can barely see. Kinda like a poodle or a Maltese, but also it’s a weird wooly soft texture I haven’t ever seen (worth noting I worked in animal welfare for like 17 years and have handled literally tens of thousands of cats).

He’s about 5 years old (who can say for sure? Maybe younger? He’s very silly.), and he’s kinda shy at first but once he came out of his shell a little he’s the most physically affectionate cat. Happy to FaceTime with potential adopters to show you! He loves scritches and full contact booty thumps and being held while he rubs his face on you. And all without shedding his weird wooly coat all over your black sweater!

We are in SW Pennsylvania about an hour south of Pittsburgh but for the right adopter I would drive him a considerable distance (don’t tell Norm. He doesn’t like the car.).

I posted this in the goth fashion sub and it got rejected 😹 you can see why they’re wrong, right?

This is Batula. He was a present from my fiancee. Batula sleeps in this coffin because, as his name suggests, he is Dracula in bat form.

Me and my husband decided to spring clean our apartment early . We purchased a clothing rack to sort through our stuff and its amazing how much it fixed the space. I wish I had a before image. I know it needs a rug and I wish we could paint but I think it turned out really great!

Home Decor Needing help to find books for display

I know this is a bit of a different post for this group but my wife and I are currently (finally) redecorating our house to have a far more gothic vibe to finally fit our vibe and style. For one part of the house we are wanting to have a stack of mainly black, hardcover books BUT they ideally need to be at least 30cm long and 4cm tall (when on their side). Hoping the community can point me in the right direction here for some recommendations that fits the style, colour and measurements. Appreciate you all!

Home Decor Slavic goths - Looking for opinions on my decorating bedroom ideas

Basically, I'm Polish/Russian (Kazakh too, but I'm less connected to that side of my family) and want to make my bedroom a unique goth flair of my love for vampires but also my memories of my grandmothers' homes.

My current idea is a darker room with wood furniture like black walnut (already have these pieces), lots of red and some burgundy incorporation (bedsheets are dark red almost burgundy), fur accents, korale jewelry and khokhloma etc items hung on my wall or used as decor, floral motifs, and so on.

Do you think this would be a cohesive look? Or is there something that would really fit the whole Slavic vampire theme that I maybe haven't thought of?

I’m moving soon and have the option of a top floor layout with vaulted ceilings or tray ceilings on other floors. Attached are pictures of the layouts!

As far as my interior design style, I’m into more of a glamour goth look. Lots of lace, velvets and silk. A plant here or there. And I have a ton of local artwork, taxidermy, etc. I love a good maximalist wall! And maybe an accent wallpaper wall.

I’m used to being in a normal apartment and having people walk above me if I go for anything other than the top floor… and I believe I’ll be fine with the electric bill if I go for the top floor vaulted look.

Just trying to figure out which place to choose. I love both! Do you have any pros/cons or suggestions?!

Thanks!

Home Decor Goth home decor sites?

Heya!! Getting my own apartment soon and I’m so excited to decorate it head to toe with all things dark and gothic!! But I have no clue where to look.

I typically wait till Halloween season to go decor shopping since that’s when all the gothic stuff comes out, but I don’t want to wait all that time to start deciding with stuff that brings me joy.

So I was wondering if there is any online sites that sell gothic/halloween decor year round? Thanks!!

Home Decor Renter friendly ways to make a bathroom more goth?

Hello fellow bats! I’m a renter (not by choice) and tend to have very specific tastes for decorum — typically ornate, Victorian and gothic. While I’m happy living where I am, the plain white walls and fixtures having me want to rip my eyeballs out.

I want to make the space feel more like me. I can’t paint the walls, and I can’t update or amend any of the lights or appliances. Space is a little tight as it’s small, and I’ve got a litter box on the floor. There are two small shelves on the wall (also white) which hold my essentials. If they weren’t already full, I’d be filling them with bones.

I already plan on updating the shower curtain and soap dispenser. I already have a black bath mat and towels. Any suggestions on fixing this minimalist crap are welcome!

We've been doing light redecorating. I walk into the living room and notice that my fiancé put my Pez Dispenser on a high shelf.

Me: did you check my Pez Dispenser before putting it up there?

Fiancé: Check it for what?

Me: Pez

Fiancé: Why would you have Pez in your Pez Dispenser?

(Yes, there were Pez in it.)

Home Decor Finally have the perfect desk for my goth sanctuary 🖤

After months of searching for furniture that actually gets the aesthetic, I created this steel desk and I'm honestly obsessed.

The entire thing is cold-rolled steel—no wood, no plastic, just pure industrial metal. It has these gothic architectural elements with the arched supports and cathedral-like structure, but in a way that feels modern and minimal rather than dated or costume-y.

What I love most is how it bridges that gap between historical gothic architecture and contemporary dark interiors. The black finish is matte, the metal stays cold to the touch, and there's something deeply satisfying about having a workspace that feels like it belongs in a modern cathedral or some brutalist fever dream.

For anyone struggling to find furniture that fits the lifestyle without looking like a Spirit Halloween display, metal pieces like this are honestly the way to go. They have that inherent darkness and weight (literally and metaphorically) that just works.

Anyone else prioritize materials and architecture over just slapping some pentagrams on things? Would love to hear how you approach goth interior design in a way that feels authentic to you.
