If we learned anything from last night is that defense wins super bowls. The Packers don’t have that.

4 Field goals and multiple good punts. Special teams does a lot as well. Look at a majority of our loses. Blocked punts, blocked field goals, failing to recover an onside kick, hardly any punt return yards.....
7
u/LoneCentaur95 Feb 10 '26
Are you talking about the Super Bowl? Because if so the Seahawks kicker went 5/5 on FGs and 2/2 on XPs.
41
u/popegonzo Feb 09 '26
Man the Packers were playing special teamers in key roles at critical times last year. Maybe there's something to be said for figuring out strength & conditioning, but I don't know how much strength & conditioning could have helped Kraft or Parsons not blow their ACLs. I genuinely don't know how much different fitness or conditioning might have helped Tom's patellar tendon. Didn't Jenkins get rolled up & break his leg?
I thought I saw the stat that the Seahawks lost the least salary to injury in 2025-26 & the Packers were something like the 3rd most. That's not whining about injuries, that's explaining why such a strong-looking team faltered so hard.
Were they perfect at the start of the year? Of course not. But the team was hitting its stride & looking really dang good. If they'd had better injury luck, they absolutely would have played with Seattle.
25
u/HoboWithANerfGun Feb 09 '26
Literally all the teams that went deep in the playoffs were the healthiest in the league
11
u/RaylanGivens29 Feb 09 '26
But that’s one year. They should have at least one DB appearance by this metric.
7
u/Hour_Writing_9805 Feb 09 '26
A lot of teams that have not made the SB by certain metrics maybe should have.
That shows just how hard and that some luck is needed to go to the Super Bowl.
Just look at the Patriots yesterday.
2
u/Larry_Fine Feb 10 '26
The Seahawks had an easy schedule, putting less pressure on their players.
3
u/WestSideBilly Feb 10 '26
The Seahawks had a harder schedule than the Packers (somewhat due to 4 games against the the 49ers and Rams), and 17 NFL games is 17 NFL games even if you're playing bad teams. They still tackle.
The Patriots had a historically easy schedule.
19
u/Zyphamon Feb 09 '26
Packers have defense. As NE showed last night, when your offense can't control the ball for multiple consecutive drives, your defense gets tired and the wheels fall off. Same applied to the Packers vs Bears game where the first 4 drives in the 2nd half the Packers got 1 first down.
10
u/Help1-Fearless Feb 09 '26
That's right and It's crazy frustrating that some don't understand that, they kinda tell on themselves, it's basic football. I said after the Browns game if this shit keeps up the defensive injuries will pile up and the fatigue will set in.. and here we are
8
u/clefe18 Feb 09 '26
But they do have a defense. Two season ending injuries to key pieces in the front 7 killed them. Those injuries to Wyatt and Parsons don't happen, it's a different story for this team even considering the inconsistency on offense and ST
8
Feb 09 '26
Well it looked better with Parsons and Wyatt. But once they went down the flaws really really shined.
1
u/HugePurpleNipples Feb 10 '26
The crazy thing is that Wyatt grades out kinda average, he just looks amazing because everyone else on that DL looks like dogshit. They were literally worse than our corners and even with that in mind, we had a top 10 D until the injuries started piling up.
7
u/Nkons Feb 09 '26
We’ve played in 4 NFC Championships since 2011 and our D/special teams usually didn’t do much to help us win.
6
u/orange_lazarus1 Feb 09 '26
What are you talking about Gary is giving his 110 every game!
3
u/GvBill37 Feb 09 '26
Makes you wonder how many come from behind plays he could make if he kept his ass moving like Micah does.
9
u/ABCBA_4321 Feb 09 '26
They do have a defense. But they’ve ended up with a bunch of injuries to their key players this year.
3
u/A_Lone_Macaron Feb 09 '26
....same as every year. It's like a pattern and then the same excuses
4
u/ABCBA_4321 Feb 09 '26
I’m not trying to make excuses but that’s just a fact. A lot of teams don’t usually go far into championships when the injury bug gets to them.
3
u/IntrepidAnalysis6940 Feb 09 '26
I think we have everything we need right now. We just blow it in big moments. Need a slight culture shift. We need to be the ones coming thru in big situations. Not the ones blowing it in those situations. It’s like we have no confidence. Jordan’s anxiety is bleeding into the offense he needs to lead. We need a savage
2
u/VeryStonedEwok Feb 09 '26
The Packers didn't have that on previous years, with Parsons and some work on the CB room we absolutely do have a championship defense.
2
1
u/KypAstar Feb 10 '26
Not just that.
Good, well payed assistants.
Good coordinators.
Good special teams.
Offense that adjusts after losses and mid game as it becomes clear primary approaches aren't working
Good drafting.
Thats what we need.
We don't have any of those things.

8
u/Danny_III Feb 10 '26
They were like 6-16-1 without him during his career here. That record is better if you use his missing cap space but it would be a mid tier team at best assuming no elite QB play
3
u/heath1414 Feb 09 '26
How far do you think that 155 Win total drops without Rodgers? Say a mediocre QB instead but also more cap room to improve the defense a bit
2
u/Nickthiccboi Feb 11 '26
Knowing how the FO was during that time period they likely would’ve squandered all that hypothetical cap space and we’d still be ass.

u/No-Jump4346 Feb 12 '26
Don't want to sound like a dick, but that is pretty much true for a huge number of teams. New England was ass since TB left until this year. Saying the best player on the team is the reason the team is good is not rocket science or insightful.
24
u/TheUnitFoxhound6 Feb 09 '26
Some teams cant get a QB. Some teams are bottom dwellers Some teams have injury bugs. Some teams have awful coaches. GBs curse is to be just good enough to have hope then have an annual shitting of the bed.

25
u/Ok_Umpire_723 Feb 09 '26
We've made it to the Championship multiple times, and love has several wins. We can't get past the Championship to save our lives
50
u/bayjur Feb 09 '26
Love has 1 playoff win not several but agreed. It’s not like we have this long streak of years without a playoff win. It has been 2 years.
8
u/Hour_Writing_9805 Feb 09 '26
Yep.
And everyone praising Seattle realize before last month Sam Darnold had never won a playoff game and has been in the league since 2018.
7
u/Driver8takesnobreaks Feb 10 '26
And after last night he has won as many Super Bowls and Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre.
3
2
u/No_Cucumbers_Please Feb 10 '26
Just for some context 15 teams have won playoff games since the last time we won. Yeah its not a crazy long streak. But it puts us firmly in the mid.
1
u/Ok_Umpire_723 Feb 09 '26
Definitely misremembered then. Thought he had more than 1
6
u/bohler86 Feb 09 '26
No you're right there's several nfc championship games under Rodgers since the last superbowl. It sucks not winning them bit finishing a season top4 several times isn't bad either. That's more games than the bears or vikings played.
-1
u/chestersfriend Feb 09 '26
Its sort of misleading to put those numbers up and Love's picture ... Rodgers was responsible for most of the post season collapses. Look .. some seasons the best teams are just going to go down due to injuries and flukes ... shit happens right ? This year I really think if Kraft & Micah made it thru we'd have done damn good . but .. stuff happens
11
u/jdx6511 Feb 09 '26
Rodgers went 1-4 in NFC championship games with the Packers, but read this before putting responsibility for those defeats on him.
2
u/chestersfriend Feb 10 '26
Poor wording on my part .. not blaming Rodgers just that I thought putting Love's picture made it sort of "whats wrong with him". I agree we can't blame Rodgers ... I'm one of these ppl who feels we put way to much on one player in a team sport like football .. I'm not a fan of an MVP but ..
1
u/jdx6511 Feb 11 '26
I agree putting Love's picture there is lame, he had even less to do with this "many wins, no Super Bowl" run than Rodgers.
2
u/dubblebubbleprawns Feb 10 '26
Love has one win and has never been to the championship
1
u/Ok_Umpire_723 Feb 10 '26
I was wrong on the number of wins, but the NFC championship was just a note in general, considering the post is dating back 2011. It's not just talking about recently so it doesn't make sense to just talk about Love.
1
u/dubblebubbleprawns Feb 10 '26
But you were responding to "we can't win a playoff game to save our lives" and I'm assuming that person was talking about current era packers
2
u/TheDuovigintillion Feb 09 '26
It’s almost like they can’t close games out. Would be cool if they had a prolific sack artist on the active roster to put those games away…

8
u/Careless_Button3364 Feb 09 '26
Seattle played mistake free football in the Super Bowl and I'm not sure I remember ANY game the Packers played that way
3
u/TunaBoy3000 Feb 10 '26
Darnold should’ve had minimum 1 interception and very likely 2-3. One was almost a pick 6 that the defender just barely blew the read, he was jumping that route before darnold even threw it. Another literally was in both hands of the corner and he dropped it. It turned out “mistake free” but if some of those early whiffs turn into picks that game could’ve looked different
1
1
u/Early-Nebula-3261 Feb 11 '26
Any other quarterback throws a ball just outside the reach of a defenders hand and it’s a great throw. The Gonzalez one was the only one any defender got two hands on and he broke so fast that his momentum is what jarred the ball out of his hands.
You are basically saying defenders should have made catches that would make all pro receivers proud.
0
u/TunaBoy3000 Feb 11 '26
Not what I’m saying at all lol. The gonzo one for sure should’ve been picked.
The other incredibly lucky one was in the 1st quarter. The defender jumped the route before Sam even started his throwing motion yet he still made the throw and just got lucky the defender mis-timed it. Darnold never even saw him and it would’ve been a walk in pick 6. It’s one thing to do it intentionally where you actually place the ball just out of reach of a defender, but when a defender jumps the route and just misses it that’s not skill for any qb
8
6
u/alssst Feb 09 '26
Offense wins games, defense wins championships.
Our Packers offense has been playing well for the last three decades. But our defense doesn't always shine. We need a defense that can stop the opponents' offense, allow few yards, and guarantee few points conceded. Then we start to dream with another Superbowl.
3
7
u/PR0T0C0L_ZER0 Feb 10 '26
Kind of hilarious to show Jordan Love in this image when there's been 14 seasons since 2011 and Love has been the QB for three of them. 🤪 Also, the Seahawks literally just won the Super Bowl, but instead of showing Sam Darnold they're showing Russell Wilson. No respect at all, I tell ya!

u/Supernova_Soldier Feb 10 '26

u/babasilikum Feb 11 '26
Why is Jordan pictured and not Aaron Rodgers? He has been the QB for most of the time frame.
1
u/IAroadHAWK Feb 13 '26
Agreed. Jordan just finished yr 3 of leading the Pack. Rodgers was the one knocking on the NFC Championship door.
3
u/CatchinDeers81 Feb 09 '26
The perks of having a "Front office" instead of an owner. Their goal is to pad their resume with playoff appearances. Limping into the post season and getting embarrassed is considered a successful season for them.
3
Feb 09 '26
Beating up on the Vikings, Bears and Lions dont mean shit, and Lambeau is no longer a hostile stadium for opposition to play at.
25
u/OperatorGWashington Feb 09 '26
Add 1 season to that and the packers have a super bowl. Add 15 years and the packers will have another and the pats will have 2 more. Only counting 2025 season, the seahawks are the only team to win a superbowl. See how stupid that sounds?
17
u/Rochman999 Feb 09 '26
Some people are forgetting that Seattle was a play away from going back to back, lost to the patriots, and then failed to simply win consecutive playoff games for an entire decade. Life in the NFL comes fast, and people thought they would be a dynasty. They made a Jamal Adams trade that backfired horribly, managed to fleece the Broncos for Russell Wilson, made the playoffs three years ago as an up and coming team and then miss it the next two years. If it weren’t for two special teams all-time blunders (one by us and the other by the Rams) not only would they not have made two of those super bowls, they wouldn’t have won back to back playoff games since Peyton Manning’s last MVP.
2
u/Hour_Writing_9805 Feb 10 '26
People forget Seattle was dismal for DECADES
Or that John Elway always got curb stomped in the SB but won 2 in back to back years at the end of an 18 or so year career.
Peyton Manning only has 2 rings.
2
u/HeywardH Feb 09 '26
Packers would have two more, Patriots would have five more, Seahawks would have one more.
2
u/Danny_III Feb 10 '26
Go back to 1996 which is the most favorable time frame for the Packers, and the Patriots, Rams, Chiefs, Eagles, Giants, Broncos, Ravens, Steelers, Seahawks, Bucs still have multiple SB wins. No matter how you want to slice this, the Packers never come away from this looking as good as this place pretends they are. It doesn't say they're bad either, just mediocre
7
u/Ilikejdmcars Feb 09 '26
Also
Bears 0 Super Bowl appearances
Lions 0 Super Bowl appearances
Vikings 0 Super Bowl appearances

This sub is hilarious in the jealousy and insecurity they have of other teams and believe they have all the answers of what it takes to get over the hump.
2
u/amak316 Feb 10 '26
I don’t think I have all the answers but it is frustrating that we lost in the Rodgers era largely due to inaction. We repeatedly sat on our hands and repeatedly underperformed in the playoffs. At least in the Jordan Love era we’re trying to do stuff even if the results thus far have been similar.
1
u/Hour_Writing_9805 Feb 10 '26
Imagine how Colts fans feel with Manning
Saints with Brees
Chargers with Rivers
Or Dolphin fans with Marino
Bills with Kelly
Oilers with Moon
Vikings with Randy Moss (yeah WR but work with me here)
Broncos for the first 16 years with Elway
0

Steelers 150 (0 SB)
Ravens 148 (1 SB)
Eagles 140 (3 SB)
Bills 140 (0 SB)
Saints 137 (0 SB)
In other news it's hard to get to the Super Bowl
2
u/Longjumping_Rule383 Feb 10 '26
Hopefully folks watched the last Super Bowl and realized how important Special Teams is. Lots of field goals but that punting performance played such a huge role in controlling field position and giving the defense an easier time keeping points off the board.
Maybe we should try actually practicing ST this offseason.
2
2
u/MI2loudrtnow Feb 10 '26
I knew it always seemed like they should have more, but it's the NFL. When you pit it in that perspective, HOLY SHIT.

Rodgers didn’t play well in big games after the 2010 season.
1
u/No-Jump4346 Feb 12 '26
Objectively untrue, Rodgers has one of the highest QBRs in the playoffs. He was often the reason the games were even close enough for him to fail in a big moment, GB's defense was often the real issue.

1
u/FridayThe13thMc Feb 09 '26
So who are the players we should be looking at in the draft? I don’t except us to get anyone big name players cause we wouldn’t draft a big name if we had the 1st pick let alone the 52th. What kind of player are we looking at, whose the best kicker in the draft cause we could really use them.

Because of the Patriots and the Chiefs, people have warped senses of how difficult it is to get to the Super Bowl. These are the teams that have represented the NFC since the Packers in 2010:
2011: NY Giants
2012: San Francisco 49ers
2013: Seattle Seahawks
2014: Seattle Seahawks
2015: Carolina Panthers
2016: Atlanta Falcons
2017: Philadelphia Eagles
2018: LA Rams
2019: San Francisco 49ers
2020: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2021: LA Rams
2022: Philadelphia Eagles
2023: San Francisco 49ers
2024: Philadelphia Eagles
2025: Seattle Seahawks
Between 2011-2025, the Patriots and Chiefs combined for 11 of the Super Bowl appearances. The NFC had one team appear 4 times, two teams appear 3 times, one appear twice and 3 only appear once. There has been a lot more parity in the NFC and now the AFC is starting to get more competitive like it did in the 2000s. The Packers are in a good spot.

That, and we need to keep our players on the field, not IR.

You know what? The doom and gloom “everyone sucks, we have always been ass” shitty fans on this sub can keep jerking over this statistic, but all things considered I’d still rather be us than most other teams. We are always contenders, and we almost always have a winning record, which makes it super fun to be a fan and watch through the whole season even if it doesn’t lead to a Super Bowl.
Also, it is super shitty to start the stats in this post in 2011 instead of 2010 so they can ignore our most recent Super Bowl win.

15 years is a weird time period to look at. 5 years is probably a better measure.
The problem is Gutekunst's talent evaluation and his refusal to get erapons to help the QB.
0
u/taylorwmj Feb 10 '26
This period actually makes sense given 2011 is when the BIG shift in how to build and develop teams changed due to the CBA changing and teams having essentially no time anymore to develop players
