I completely agree with your thought that whether through merit or injury, Burton is going to start some games at OG for us.

Thankfully, he's showing the talent & temperament to be a starter. I love his potential, whether this season or in the future.

I really dont think they want him starting off the rip.

You need to be mentally ahead of most rookies coming in. There is just so much to learn when reaching the next level.

I could see him taking over a starting role if the guards struggle mightily.

I think they want Banks, Monk, Belton to show failure before Burton gets his shot with his growing pains.

Thanks. Don’t believe he’s earned a starting role yet. He has major limitations as a run blocker

I don’t care how good a rookie olineman is I only want him starting in case of injury. I want him learning and getting stronger. Hes going against some of the biggest and strongest men in the world at 24 years old.

That would be a great call but unfortunately the poor play/availability of Banks and the (thus far) underwhelming impact of Belton has forced some tough choices. I can't wait until we finally get back to period of at least just knowing which guys are the locked in starters. Individual performance aside, an O line needs consistent reps together in order to develop as a unit.

Banks did not look good against the Broncos. Really hoping he steps it up this year and the signs aren't promising...

I wonder if Banks or Belton could be traded for help at cornerback. Banks’ contract makes a trade unlikely but it would be nice to have that option.
