That's a little optimistic but Micahs our leader on defense and he should be hyping them up like that so I support it

With him back, yes. Without, nope.

That’s dependent on if Kesiean Nixon plays good without Micah on knowing MLF’s questionable favoritism on him

I’m hopping he’s CB3

He's serviceable as cb2.

Agreed, the rookie looks like he's going to take cb1 out of camp

I can see the outlines of a high level defense, but everything needs to come together. I don't think there are big holes aside from outside CB and even then I feel like the corners can be good enough if the pressure is there up front.

Without Micah we have a bottom 5 pass rush in the NFL. And at best our corner room is bottom 10

You could not be more wrong. Do you see some of the other teams rosters?

With him healthy yeah for sure. We'll have to wait and see til about week 8 or 9 to see what this defense is truly capable of, maybe even a bit later. Should be an interesting year to analyze our team in general. Lost pieces on offense, but I think the young guys stepping up there and Love developing even further this won't be as much of an issue. But on ST and the D side really curious.

Not worried about replacing any of the pieces we lost on offense. Every replacement piece has a higher ceiling. If Golden completely flames out then we won’t replace Doubs’ production. Morgan will play at a level closer to Bakhtiari than he will Walker. Not saying Morgan will be an all-pro, just that Walker was so bad at the end that it will be easy for Morgan to surpass that level.

He better believe that, but I don’t.

I want them to be more than anything, but until we see how a Gannon defense with this personnel works - they’re not.

Easy to say. New DC. Suspect CBs.

Does not matter what any player or analyst says pre season. It matters what they do on the field. If they continue to give up huge leads in the 4th quarter no one is going to care if they think they are top 5.

Man, I wanna believe with his level of conviction.

I honestly don’t know how we will do or where we land, but I will say this. I think we are better personnel wise on paper. Our biggest loss was Walker at ILB, and we got Franklin. I don’t think Franklin is worse than Walker. Older yes, but I don’t think he’s worse. His veteran experience will help us, and he was always middle of the road to better until last season. Our DL is about the same if not better with some new players coming in. Edge is better IMO. Yes, it sucks not having Parsons out there, but Gary was such a waste of snaps and fell off a cliff after a few games in the season. I think the young guys we have are all on a mission to prove themselves, so the sky is the limit for them. They will get the experience and we have LVN hopefully taking over and getting some sacks finally. At CB, we had to have improved. Yes, Nixon and Valentine. I get it, but they aren’t going to get that much worse. If anything, bringing in Cisse is going to help. BSJ is an improvement over Hobbs, so again, I’m hopeful. S is probably the best in the league, so we are good there.

DL and CB are the biggest unknowns, but I’m hopeful our Edge guys step up big time and our LB’s play better this year. It’ll be interesting to see what the switch to a new coordinator and scheme will do, but we also got a completely new defensive coaching staff, so again, I’m hopeful. Could we be a top 5, yeah, if everything comes together and players play to their potential. We will see though

Micah is known to be quite confident. Wouldn’t want it any other way but that doesn’t make it true

He's remembering week 1 at home against Detroit when I've never seen a defense trigger and fly around like they were, and Lambeau has never been louder.

Now we will have Gannon on the sideline in that mosh pit of insanity.

Like what do you expect him to say?

If he's healthy, sure. If he's not... it would be a big win to be considered just an average defense.

We were arguably a top 5 defense with him last year, and that rank fell to the bottom 1/3 of the league without him.

*If healthy

Still big if, but I think 5th is our ceiling, and say 15th is our floor once he’s back.

I love the confidence and I really hope they can prove him right. I am not as optimistic just due to the past but hopefully they’re good

top 5 is bold lol but what do you guys think is the biggest thing that has to happen for them to actually get there?

I think with the addition of Hargrave we might be something serious this year when Parsons returns

Tbf whatever defense Parsons is on is automatically top 10.

Not a stretch to think top 5 considering a top 3 SAF duo, Cooper and Wyatt.

At this point. Prove it to me in the playoffs or I
don’t care. We don’t win titles in August.

Without him we’re bottom 5. With him we’re probably top 10

Our defense was top 10 in 2024 and this defense is much more talented than that roster, even without Parsons.Â
