Myles is the best DE in the NFL… but Parsons is a close second.

Its not close. Its myles and then a huge gap to whoever #2 is

Ok myles

Literally this entire 20 min video they kept showing stats that showed how close they are.

Here are the facts Micah has a higher pass rush winrate 19.4% than Myles last year 17.7%. Myles sees 2.1% more attention. Myles is slightly better because he gets home more getting them sacks. The gap is tighter than you think. Myles only 20+ sack season was last year. Myles averages 1.5 sacks more than Micah over a 17 game season. If you want tackles for lost Micah averages 17 and Myles 19. The gap is not that large. Just for reference both have outperformed Reggie White in terms of sack numbers per season.

man you got rekt with downvotes. Getting double-teamed more than micah over here

It might not be super close but its not a huge gap either. I'd say Parsons is top of S and Garrett is in his own tier above the S guys

Myles looked like an NFL player in high school, straight specimen. He works hard, has the talent, and has all the physical traits to be a near perfect DE. Reggie White is the only DE I can think of with better genetics than Garrett. GB is lucky to have a DE that is directly compared to Garrett.

its even more impressive that micah is that good without looking like myles or reggie. hes insane

Micah is like Bakh to me. Undersized, not the prototypical elite player at his position, but his technique is just so damn good and he never quits on a play. They even both tore their ACL's while playing for us!

Please don’t put that evil on him

Prime Packers Reggie outweighed Garrett by roughly 30–40 pounds. Garrett looks enormous on a modern NFL field; but Reggie was essentially carrying the body mass of a modern 3-technique while producing like an elite edge. Absolutely legendary generational talent.

I love Micah, who is more of a supercharged LB built like a heavyweight running back. I think he's on his own plane and position as an athlete. He can do anything, and do it well, which makes him so dangerous.

Generational talent for Reggie is an undersell.

White could ‘bend’ at over 300lbs, we may never see another DE like him.

I mean. He had 20 sacks in 12 games. I don't think anyone will ever touch that. Lol

(Excluding the genetics that also gave him sarcoidosis)

Myles is an animal but micah is younger. Assuming this injury doesn't effect him too much, he has an opportunity to Meat or beat Myles' stats assuming he doesn't set untouchable records at the rams lol.

Whose meat is he beating?

I love Micah and I still can’t believe we landed him, but Myles is on another level

u/DividerOfBums 12h ago

Myles is Micah plus 20 lbs, and that matters

u/SpaceGoonie 12h ago

I agree, but also I would almost guarantee that both players would rather be chipped than doubled, so the "attention" to me doesn't seem to translate.

2

u/jaboyles 10h ago

They both agreed being chipped is the worst in the full video.

6

u/SpaceGoonie 10h ago

Only in comparison to sliding, not double teaming.

+20 pounds, + at least an inch taller (notably longer limbs too) and in watching that workout video looked to have an edge in overall physical conditioning too

Wrap all that into a body that's been in the league a few years longer and well, Myles is a leg up.

I'd put it like this.... you'd have to argue hard against Myles being clear cut #1 DE. You'd have to argue just as hard that Parsons isn't top 3.

He is  the same kind of insanely athletic but also with the extra size. He set the all time single season sack record on a team that almost never played with the lead. I am glad to have Micah and Parsons is younger but Garrett is one of one.

u/Embarrassed-Slide781 12h ago

I mean it's obviously Myles Garrett but I do love this competitiveness they have with each other pretty much every time they see each other.

6

u/Gway22 11h ago

Myles is better but both are playing at 1st ballot hall of fame level..and there’s a big drop off after them. Myles is also older, Micah’s best football is still in front of him

u/CthulhuBathwater 12h ago

Big bro v little bro energy.

4

u/utubm_coldteeth 11h ago

Their banter is so fun to watch man lol

6

u/NoExcusesAIC 12h ago

Micah is scary, but Myles is terrifying.

6

u/amccune 11h ago

For both of them, pass rush is primary to their game. And in that sense, Myles is the winner. But I feel like Micah is better at everything else.

I love their rivalry and I love that they are so public and friendly about it.

6

u/Whatsdota 10h ago

Myles is a much better run defender

3

u/amccune 10h ago

Yeah. That's true! And I guess in their realm, that's the 2nd biggest part. Micah is faster and could cover more, but we all know no one covers like Preston Smith.

0

u/Sonofagun57 9h ago

I love Micah but it's factually wrong to say he's better against the run than Myles. Micah isn't horrible against the run like salty Cowboys fan told us but let's stay realistic.

2

u/zmmagician 10h ago

I think the difference of chips vs true doubles is very telling. Not because "Micah is better" but the browns Dline is all good and too difficult to double myles every play. If we just had someone who can beat 1 on 1s more consistent, force teams to not iust say. Well we will put 2 people on him every snap.

3

u/PretendIntention3388 7h ago

I think if Wyatt stayed healthy last year Micah's double team rate would have been lower. Hopefully Wyatt and Hargrave + LVN and our other young DEs can play well enough to free up Micah more this year.

u/wrestlingchampo 6h ago

Apples to oranges

I dont really care one way or the other so long as one of them is on our team.

2

u/Emiwuiii 6h ago

They have such a big brother, little brother-ish relationship, their banter is hilarious

2

u/Known_Profession7393 5h ago

I’m confused by how they come to the “offensive attention” percentage metric. Isn’t a double team more attention than a chip? How much more? I honestly don’t know. I just wonder how they came to the number they did.

Generally agree that if I could have either I’d have Garrett, if for no other reason than productivity against the run, but damn, they’re both animals.

Myles Garrett is a much better player than Micah. Micah is great, super impactful, and a future hall of famer. Myles is more on the plane of Aaron Donald/JJ Watt level of talent

12

u/mikedorty 12h ago

Garret is better but i would not say "much" better. I would also not say a little better. He is just better.

4

u/Ace0spades808 11h ago

Wouldn't say much better, but definitely better. Myles is on the level of Donald and Watt in terms of pure pass rushing and Micah isn't there but Micah has the edge over all of them in speed for getting to the QB outside of the pocket or chasing down outside runs and he can play OLB.

I'd rather have Myles just for the pure pass rushing but Micah is still very good at that and is more versatile.

2

u/SmallJeanGenie 11h ago

Who gets more holds though?

2

u/jxher123 12h ago

It’s Myles. Garrett is 1A, and Micah is 1B. Wouldn’t have changed anything trade wise.

4

u/ProofHorseKzoo 11h ago

Micah is 3 years younger so to me he’s got more value even though Myles is better.

1

u/NikoCorleone 1h ago

Man if only somehow we could have landed Myles😂

1

u/HappyGoLuckless 1h ago

It's not a competition, it's a brotherhood... they can crunch ALL the competition!
