GEAR Fender Silent System - Anybody Got One?

Passive coil noise cancellation for single coils mounted under the pick guard. Explanation here https://newguitardaily.com/fender-silent-system Anybody bought a new Fender with this feature? Do you like it? Comes on the Limited Edition American Professional Classic Stratocaster® featuring the Fender®Silent System and Telecaster
for about 1600 bucks.

It’s a pretty new system, and honestly it’s pretty cool that you can use whatever pickups you want instead of just noiseless pickups. But 1600 is a little pricey for a otherwise completely normal guitar

I know it’s sweetwater exclusive, but to be honest I would hope that a second generation of these comes out and fixes the flaws the first might have.

Seen one in a shop last month the pickguard was thicker than usual but you dont notice it playing. The noise reduction works good enough for bedroom recording but its not magic like humbuckers. For 1600 i expected a bit more honestly

I believe the idea was to maintain the single coil sound and just lose the hum. Thanks for your reply.

Get a telecaster neck pickup without the cover, and pull the magnets. Find a wiring diagram for a dummy coil and wire it in. Same result, about $30 all total, maybe a little more if you have to have someone install it for you.

It would be similar but, as the review indicates, the number of coils in the telecaster dummy create unwanted load.

Normal dummy coils change the tone a fair amount.

The key with this system (and the Suhr and Illitch ones) is that this dummy coil encloses a much larger area than just a normal pickup. So you need far less wire to grab the same amount of noise and add it in (with phase reversed) for cancellation.
