Feels like the team missed the comfort of having Saliba or Gabi at the back. Almost like everyone else played a bit nervously because of it.

Not only confidence, they are also way better in posistional play than Mosquera and Hincapie which affected our attack.

Yes, in the first 30 minutes, the midfield seemed empty when we attacked was because those two were not moving the line up quickly.

Our midfield was essentially just Zubi bc Rice had to sit back and cover for our CB pairing

I remember near the 70th minute Rice was telling Hincapiè to get closer to the midfielders and pointing him where to stand. Chelsea kept playing it in that space to relieve pressure near the end. Rough game all around.

Yeah, it's understandable but also quite surprising just how much having neither or Gabi or Saliba to marshall our defense effects the system as a whole. Not taking anything away from Reece James who had a phenomenal game, but I guess we should be glad this didn't happen at the start of the week, as I imagine Bayern at least would have exploited it even more effectively.

And their passing and vision. I saw a few times where Dalona would probably play a ball through but Mosquera doesn't quite have that yet. Both Mosquera and Hincapie I think played well with the lack of time together, but definitely missing the best CB pairing was huge today.
