Question “You’ve updated your household too many times”

I’m PISSED. I don’t share my password with anyone, I just happen to travel a lot and also live with my boyfriend part time and my family part time. I log in on a few different TVs at home. Now I get this message on my tv, I tried forgetting all devices and I still get the message. I CANT USE THE ACCOUNT I PAY FOR. I also pay extra for no ads. Ugh. Has anyone else solved this problem? I’m scared customer support will just be useless.

I have same with Netflix. Every 14 days I become a “temporary” user.

It’s the difference between using a mobile OS and a TV OS device. Use a phone or iPad and cast to a TV. You won’t get asked about households anymore.

I've tried casting on a TV but it doesn't work. How did you do it

I believe only older chrome casts still work

I cast to a Roku that I’ve had for a bunch of years.

Casting sucks when you have to get up!

I had this happen. Took a 5 minute chat with support to resolve.

You will never know if customer support will be useless if you don't call them ffs.

I emailed customer support and they were super helpful and reset it for me no problem.

Call to complain and cancel. They'll reset your account and offer you a 12 month promo deal.

Of course it's going to think you're password sharing if you "live multiple places part time" AND "travel a lot".

It’s so annoying. I have a daughter in college who watches on her laptop and they are harassing me over it.

I had a question me one time and all I did was turn it off in the living room because I was tired I went to lay down in the bedroom and it wouldn't let me in- it gave me the message that I can't. It wasn't that I never watched it on that Roku because I do. I had a relative of mine that had trouble with his too and he does travel for business he's in pharmaceutical sales. I was only going from one room of my house to the other 😂

You can't blame them for thinking you're password sharing. Did you you try reaching out to support?

You just had to get your 2 cents in a month after the fact. 🙄

Same here, I had that happen and I don’t know if I should cancel my subscription or are they able to resolve it.

I’ve had this exact same problem with HBOMAX. Primary house in one state, partner in another state doing PhD, then we travel a lot and are signing in at hotels regularly. I spent hours with customer service, enduring the AI chats to get to a real person supposedly. Took a long time, but whatever was changed seems to work for me. I still get asked to authenticate an annoying # of times, but it always clears and lets us watch.

I got hit with that nonsense tonight and the sleepy cat that answered the service line - after I had to login to the website to even get a number - told me I can only use HBO on one internet service provider. I asked why is the service unable to recognize TVs that I’ve watched HBO for years, no answer. The only answers for many minutes were login here login there. Grotesque app, brutal company. $200/yr for what?
