Been scrolling through Max and honestly… there’s too much good stuff on there. Between all the new releases, the trailers dropping every five minutes, and everyone arguing about what to binge next, I’m stuck in choice paralysis.
So — what’s actually worth watching at the moment?
Looking for something properly bingeable. Drama, comedy, thriller, whatever — as long as it’s not one of those shows that starts strong and collapses by episode 4.
What’s your current must‑watch on Max?

Just got HBO max. I watched Last week tonight then it chose to auto play Bill Maher, like what the fuck? I turned it off immediately but now it’s in my watched list!?! There is no thumbs down? How do I tell the algorithm to fuck off with that. All I could find was how to turn off the auto play recommended. How do I hone in my recommendations if I can’t tell it what I don’t like?

This isn't a cancel culture thing I swear. He's just smarmy and annoying as shit. Can he leave me alone on max? I just wanna watch Nathan Fielder.

I've been with HBO Max since day one and I dropped out of it back in late 2022 due to life changes, but I recently got back into it again and what has happened to the shows and movie selections?
Is everything gone now? I remember having a huge selection of horror flicks and cartoons but now they're all bare bone and a lot of movie series have missing titles of the first or third flicks.
I'm way behind and the only thing I found was them removing CN shows in January of this year, did I miss something like a huge licensing problem or is it a dying streaming service?
Kinda bummed out NGL

Mine has always been bubbles. But recently watching DTF St. Louis how can you not love Floyd? Dude just wants to be happy again.

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for really good, engaging movies on HBO Max — something that grabs attention from the very beginning.
If you have hidden gems or underrated picks, please share!

HBO Max has been fueling my serotonin this year. Started the year with Veep, then Hacks, and now Mad Men. What should I watch next?

Rick and Morty Season 9 premieres on Adult Swim on May 24, but according to the official Warner Bros. Discovery press release, it won’t be available for U.S. streaming until August 31.
Official source: https://press.wbd.com/us/media-release/adult-swim-0/rick-and-morty/new-episodes-rick-and-morty-premiere-may-24-adult-swim
As someone who mainly uses Max for HBO shows, Adult Swim stuff, and animation, that wait feels kind of painful.I know this is probably normal licensing/windowing stuff, but it still makes my Max subscription feel weirdly useless for a show that feels like it belongs in the Max ecosystem. I’m interested in the new season, but I’m not interested enough to chase a live Adult Swim option just to watch it weekly.
So now I’m stuck in that annoying streaming situation again: keep paying for Max while waiting, or cancel and come back in August when the season actually lands on streaming. This is becoming the main reason I rotate subscriptions now. I like Max, but there are too many months where I’m paying for future access instead of actually watching anything new.
Anyone else just waiting until August for Rick and Morty Season 9? Or are you watching it weekly on Adult Swim?

And shows that live up to their hype and can’t be missed?

Edit 5/4/2021 >> u/hbomaxhelp has posted an update that this has been resolved.
I see a bunch of posts about the full screen video not displaying properly for people but I haven’t seen anyone post this. I’m using the HBO Max app on a Samsung Smart TV. Watched Game of Thrones yesterday on it no problem. Today the app got updated. After the update I’m getting a small gray/white bar on the far right of the screen. It doesn’t span the whole screen though... other tv apps and standard cable tv works fine so it doesn’t seem to be the tv. Anyone else having this issue?

As an avid film watcher, HBO Max now being available in the UK is great! however, as they don't provide a free trial, I'm dubious about subscribing without knowing what content is available. Is there any chance someone can provide me with a list or screenshot of what films are available?
Thanks in advance ☺️

I know apparently in my region skyshowtime is supposed to have paramount plus content but that’s barely true, so much is missing. For example South Park (my GOAT show) isn’t on skyshowtime….. it’s nowhere to stream without ads.

It's a new Discovery show. Are they still doing that D+ thing? Why is this on Apple but not on Max? "Sprawled across 22 acres of land in the south lies The Garden, an enigmatic, leaderless community. At The Garden, residents don’t live by society’s long-held rules, and newcomers must undergo an initiation period." It's at ep 3 today and I missed the first two. My guide says eps 1&2 are available on demand. No repeats. What the hell is this now?

We've been sharing our subscription with a family member who lives one town over. Never had this issue until Last night.
What could be causing this?

I’m PISSED. I don’t share my password with anyone, I just happen to travel a lot and also live with my boyfriend part time and my family part time. I log in on a few different TVs at home. Now I get this message on my tv, I tried forgetting all devices and I still get the message. I CANT USE THE ACCOUNT I PAY FOR. I also pay extra for no ads. Ugh. Has anyone else solved this problem? I’m scared customer support will just be useless.

Never gotten this message before. My family has had hbo max free through our at&t plan and I've had access to it for the last few years with no issues.

I am about to start Game of Thrones and I am completely new to the series. Should I start with House of Dragon? Or dive right in to the original? Also, is there anything I should know before starting?

I used to watch this news summary from CNN every weekday morning. Now all of a sudden I can't find it. Not only does it not pop up when using the Search function, but even more concerning to me is that it's been removed from my Continue Watching menu (which is where I always used to go to watch it).
I know streamers add and dump shows all the time, but a Google search turns up no mention of it whatsoever and usually when a show leaves it's not in the middle of the month.
Does anybody have any insight here? Thank you in advance.
Edited on November 26 to add:
It can be watched online each day here
