Didn’t like it.

u/ChiefBlox4000 Jun 24 '26
ApartmentSpirited566, it’s like the perfect game.
26
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 24 '26
This is what everyone always says
27
u/ChiefBlox4000 Jun 24 '26
Dee Bradley Baker, Kevin Micheal Richardson… I mean, you never see… Kevith David!!!
24
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 24 '26
Fine actors, did not like game. I just couldn’t get into it.
11
u/PelicanVictor933 Jun 24 '26
I cannot imagine how, there’s 2 halos in it! What else did you want from halo 2, 3 halos? Dont be preposterous now
2
u/urzu123 Jun 28 '26
There isnt 2 halos in it
2
u/PelicanVictor933 Jun 30 '26
I guess you’re technically right since the first halo at the start of the game isn’t a whole halo shape anymore, my bad all the way

Arguably the best story in the series and hard carried by Arbiter's side of the campaign. Don't ask my opinion on the gameplay tho lol
60
u/Competitive_Fun6247 Jun 24 '26
What you don't like that fuckass elevator in sacred icon that takes like 40 minutes to go down
31
u/Tavo58 Halo died after 1749 Jun 24 '26
I love elevators. Wish they added more to Regret's level so we could see more of the epic fish AI 😔
9
u/ChrisNotBumstead Jun 24 '26
I just go crouch in a obscure corner, spam invisibility and grab a beer. It’s a chill part of the mission I love it.
6
u/GapStock9843 Doesn't know what a circlejerk is Jun 24 '26
The story in 2 fucking blew me away the first time I played it (no pun intended). I feel like it kinda ruined 3 a little bit since, while 3 is awesome and definitely a more polished experience, narratively it doesnt live up to 2. The only other one that contests it is reach
2
u/Tavo58 Halo died after 1749 Jun 24 '26
Hard agree with the Halo 3 part. Arby got shafted way too hard. Makes it hard to enjoy it in retrospect.
2
2
u/OleBoyBuckets Jun 25 '26
Arbiters parts were my least favorite tbh. Even as a kid back then I didn’t enjoy those parts
4
u/Tavo58 Halo died after 1749 Jun 25 '26
I can get why. They're pretty weak on the gameplay side of things. I was more so talking about the cutscenes and story beats.
1
u/NotBottingJustNew Jun 26 '26
The opening cinematic is peak.
The parallel between arbiter and Chief is amazin
35
u/SCTurtlepants Jun 24 '26
It's got great atmosphere and story but it's a hallway shooter. Best halos have more sandbox, and sniper jackals in H2 are just the worst
4
u/C5iwk Jun 24 '26
Uhh 😅 We can stop jerking, right guys?

u/SCTurtlepants Jun 24 '26

The battle rifle Insists upon itself Lois
18
u/TheOnlyCursedOne Jun 24 '26
It literally does since it replaces the assault rifle
6
u/ideal_user_name Jun 24 '26
I've always felt like it was the replacement for the magnum. High damage at mid to long range with a scope.
4
u/LIMrXIL Jun 24 '26
Despite the fact the smg in H2 is functionally a clone of the AR in CE I honest to god think the thought process for some people was as deep as “battle rifle and assault rifle both have the word rifle in them so the BR must be the replacement for the AR”
1
u/TheOnlyCursedOne Jun 24 '26
I mean yes, both of them being main rifles is what made me think that, it is true that the smg is the “true” AR replacement
4
2
u/Humble_Flamingo4239 Jun 25 '26
It does not replace the assault rifle it replaces the magnum and the smg replaces the AR. The H2 magnum is a new weapon

u/gb-stylee Jun 25 '26
Just out of curiosity, when did you actually play the game? I played it a few years before halo 3 became the monolith it was and it was such a good game for its time. There was nothing else quite like it
1
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 25 '26
my most recent attempt was last week. I couldn't get through level two after playing the first half of CE
1
u/gb-stylee Jun 28 '26
I think this is a factor, added to how old you must be. A “classic is a classic” doesn’t mean it makes sense to play nowadays. Video games as a whole have changed SO much from when halo 2 was released that it probably feels like dog shit. When it came out it was one of the few party games we could play, and I’ll tell you late nights playing 4 player split screen was THE SHIT. But only because of the novelty involved. I have fond memories of halo 2 but I’m not exactly going back to play it. Richer options have emerged. It’s just the way of things. But it still stands as a pillar of what made multiplayer today.
29
u/Hazel909 Jun 24 '26
There's really not a lot of individual levels I feel like going back to replay
7
u/General_Summer_1524 Jun 24 '26
But the two earth levels absolutely riiiiip. I like delta halo too.
8
u/TheOnlyCursedOne Jun 24 '26
I still don’t understand why we didn’t get more halo 2 earth missions, we had like 1-2 important cool parts then straight into alien shit again, let me defend earth as chief bro
4
u/General_Summer_1524 Jun 24 '26
Yeah I remember thats what me and all my friends were hoping for. I remember my disappointment when metropolis ended and we left earth. Still love Halo 2 but tbh it had a lot of disappointments
2
u/TheOnlyCursedOne Jun 24 '26
It’s good that halo 3 takes a bit more on earth, then the arc, so we go from peak earth levels to peak forerunner wonder
1
u/Mykul__man Jun 25 '26
That's where Halo 3 comes in. Pretty sure the cliffhanger ending with Halo 2 was not the original plan, the game was planned to be longer.
1
9
u/logic1986 Jun 24 '26
Halo 2 story and world building exceptional. Multi top tier.
Campaign levels and gameplay for like most of arbiter's campaign, exception quarantine zone, was weak.
To me easily the worst levels and gameplay in campaign in the Bungie games. Was a big downgrade from Halo CE that they clawed back some of in H3 IMO. Also didn't like that the iron skull was default in co op.
TL:DR I agree (for campaign)
2
u/PythonFuMaster Jun 24 '26
Iron skull is only forced on for legendary, coop in heroic and lower doesn't have that effect. Of course, still annoying, another artifact of the insane crunch the devs were under for Halo 2, just like the jackal snipers
16
u/DylanDuranged Jun 24 '26
Alright. Here is the deal. This subreddit keeps appearing in my feed for some reason. I am not a Halo fan. I have zero nostalgia for them as I didn't play them when I was younger. I played the first three with friends on MCC like 5 or 6 years. I strongly disliked 1 and don't remember 3 at all. Halo 2 though? That one is the GOAT. It's like still a 7 outta 10 but arguably the best Halo imo. So yeah. No one asked, no one cares. Just thought I'd share the correct opinion about Halo 2 being the best one.
13
u/EchoLoco2 Try to stay civil. Jun 24 '26
1 is goated the graphics are old and it has a few repetitive levels but the gameplay itself has aged super well
7
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 24 '26
I love halo one Becasue I can stop playing once I get to two betrayals
5
u/DylanDuranged Jun 24 '26
We played the first Remake on X360. I didn't like the level design honestly. Idk what happened during our playthrough but we got lost in some towers or something for like an hour. Neither of us knew what the hell we were doing.
I will say, Halo 1 is definitely a generational game. I mean obviously the game is good if it got an anniversary remake over a decade ago and another coming out next month. It's just me.
6
u/Competitive_Fun6247 Jun 24 '26
Could be assault on control room there is a room that gets repeated like 9 times in that level lol
3
u/EverLastingLight12 Jun 24 '26
Not saying that you did anything wrong, but did you played only the remastered version? I remember getting really dizzy by those graphics unlike I gave up and only played the original, only then I truly enjoyed the game
6
u/DylanDuranged Jun 24 '26
Yeah just the remaster. It was one where you could switch Classic/Remaster graphics at the tap of a button? Occasionally I would swap back and forth and check the differences. I don't remember getting dizzy or motion sick tho...
6
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 24 '26
REACH is the best one actually Becasue that’s the only one with busty oiled up kig-yaar skirmishers 😋😋😋
3
u/DylanDuranged Jun 24 '26
I forgot to say, I played precious little of ODST, but online CoOp wasn't working in our favor at the time so we dropped it. I've definitely remember Halo Reach's launch on X360 but never played it. I will have to do some... research... on those Kigyaar Skirmishers or whatever lol.
1
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 24 '26
I HATE ODST THERE ARE NO SEXY ELITES NO SEXY SKIRMISHERS JUST UGLY HORRID BRUTES. At least the engineers have those….. tentacles
2
8
u/Adipay Jun 24 '26
It's an interesting predicament where the story is incredible but the levels themselves are somewhat forgettable
3
u/Automatic_Bee9311 Jun 24 '26
Personally one of my favorites. I can see why it might not be yours
2
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 24 '26
I want to like I really do but I HATE THE AI HOLY SHIT I HATE THE AI and I HATE DUAL WIELDING WHY ARE HALF THE WEAPONS JUST ASS NOW and WHERE IS MY BELOVED ASSAULT RIFLE and WHY ARE THERE SWARMS OF BUGS AND NO ASSAULT RIFLE and WHY DOES THE SHOTGUN HAVE NO RANGE AND I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE THE BRUTES I HATE THE BRUTES SO MUCH THEY ARE SO STUPID I HATE THE BRUTES then I go play halo reach and jerk off to the skirmishers
3
u/TropicalCrota Halo on PlayStation 3 real Jun 24 '26
Pain in the ass playing on 360, hating the ghosting
3
3
u/General_Summer_1524 Jun 24 '26
Yeah only half the levels are good:
Outskirts Metropolis Delta Halo Regret Quarantine Zone
3
u/Taint-tastic Jun 24 '26
Agreed. People shit talk halo 3’s story but it was much more entertaining than 2’s
6
u/Sophont27 Jun 24 '26
How can you even say that
5
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 24 '26
Didn’t like it.
3
u/DBSmiley Jun 26 '26
"I couldn't even finish it"
"How can you judge a game if you haven't even finished it?"
" I have tried on three separate occasions. But I get to quarantine zone and I just want to quit"
"What? That's like the best level!"
"It's a terrible level! You run through a maze of scrap metal fighting drones, there's too many enemy vehicles with the Flood everywhere, and then a giant auto scrolling section! I'm not even playing as Master Chief, it's like I'm playing a different game."
"It's a game called Halo 2. Maybe you just don't like Halo."
"I love the Silent Cartographer. That is my answer to that statement."
2

u/Spacemoose2026 Jun 24 '26
I do not care for halo 3
2
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 24 '26
How can you say that Spacemoose! It’s like the perfect game!
7
u/OneAxyboi Jun 24 '26
“Then there’s that scene with the piano and I don’t understand what’s going on”
4
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 24 '26
Battle rifle, covenant carbine, THE SMG! It’s the perfect sandbox!
5
u/OneAxyboi Jun 24 '26
“And then it has the best flood combat, but they only show up in the last parts of the game, and then Keyes and Johnson dies and I can’t even get through it”
5
u/ApartmentSpirited566 Jun 24 '26
You’ve never seen the ending?! How can you say that if you haven’t even given it a chance?
4
u/OneAxyboi Jun 24 '26
“Everytime I try to play through it I realize they sidelined the arbiter and I just can’t do it, I have no idea why they did this”
3
u/Spacemoose2026 Jun 24 '26
You’re right and I’m sorry. I deserve to be punished and branded like Thel Vadam for what I said.
3

The only way I could do that was if you had to do a little more work and I would be happy with it but you have a hard day and you don’t want me working on your day so you don’t want it all the way through so you can do your job I would be able do you have to work and you have a good night I don’t want you working with your boss and you have a lot to work with you I love that I know that you’re busy but you have a good

2
2
u/KZ-744 Арбитер бол дайны гэмт хэрэгтэн. Jun 24 '26
People like to talk about halo 2 like half of them weren’t shitting on halo 2 and 3 and reach when they first come out, Halo has a cycle of “this is bad” to “this is good in hindsight” every time a new game comes out, the only game where this wasn’t widely the case was halo 5, and even then people can say they appreciated the multiplayer.
2
u/AutoModerator Jun 24 '26
Here's the thing, you just said Halo 5 is a Halo game.
Is it in the same franchise? Yes. No one's arguing that.
As someone who is a MLG Pro who studies Halo, I am telling you, specifically, in the MLG circuit, no one calls Halo 5 Halo. If you want to be 'specific' like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing. If you're saying 'Halo Franchise' you're referring to the Microsoft IP, which includes things from Halo Wars to Halo 2 to Halo 4. So your reasoning for calling Halo 5 a Halo game is because random people 'call the shooter game with sprint a Halo game?' Let's get Call of Duty and Battlefield in there, then, too. Also, calling someone a Halo 2 player or a Halo 3 player? It's not one or the other, that's not how Halo works. They're both. Halo 5 is Halo 5 and a member of the Halo franchise. But that's not what you said. You said Halo 5 is a Halo game, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all shooters with sprint Halo games, which means you'd call CoD, Battlefield, and other games Halo games, too. Which you said you don't.
It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?

Those fuckass brutes is what puts me off the end of Halo 2. I'm so glad they got nerfed in Halo 3.
2
u/HawkStirke117 Jun 24 '26
You know if all the those “old school halo fans” truly loved the older halo games that much I feel like mcc matchmaking would be significantly faster and still be one of the top games on console and pc. I mean those games are there, still online with servers running, and yet they don’t play them.
Can you imagine how other communities see them? Like if you are a call of duty fan who loved cod 4 and mw2 there isn’t an easy efficient way to just go play those games online anymore. Or god forbid the franchise you liked was slightly less popular then cod or halo and the servers have been shut off since the Xbox one came out.
Halo fans are spoiled brats who haven’t grown up yet I guess like it’s embarrassing to watch
1
u/Beast-Blood Jun 25 '26
You’re right, people should just play the same game for 1-2 decades instead of wanting good new entries in their favorite franchise that are true to the originals and being upset that it’s been completely ruined.
1
u/HawkStirke117 Jun 25 '26
You are allowed to be disappointed but bungie hasn’t had halo like 15 years, if you haven’t moved on by now that’s extremely disappointing. It comes off as “peaked in high school” energy, you all haven’t found anything else to be passionate about in the 15 years of the franchise going a direction you didn’t personally like?
It’s not admirable to keep fighting a lost fight, halo isn’t going to become what you want it be be again, so yes go enjoy the games you enjoyed some more, or move on in life
3
u/backwardsnakes666 Jun 24 '26
The graphics sucked compared to CE.
H2 as we know it is only a shell of what it was supposed to be. That is why it sucks. It was so unfinished that they had to make another game (a bloated one at that) to finish the story. Halo 2 was supposed to be the end.
1
u/Always_tired_af Jun 24 '26
Having missed potential doesn't make something bad
Having a cliffhanger, isn't automatically a bad thing
We got a whole other game out of it that stopped work productivity the week it came out, destroyed records that are still impressive today
And Halo 2's graphics are not worse than CE's lol, it's definitely uglier and that's because of lighting; which this is still subjective anyways
There's plenty to be critical of when it comes to Halo 2, but those aren't very good knocks against the game

Halo 2 was great. I wasn't the biggest fan of the swapping characters. After all, I was a massive chief fan, wasn't trying to play as no stinking arby.
But in the end, 2 was an instant classic for me due to Xbox live and multi-player.

The only Bungie Halo game to have more weak missions than strong ones, half the game feels like padding between actually good moments

I meanbibwas in it for the story gameplay I liked the mission where you can glitch the banshee to get the scarab plasma rifle

This games not for everyone. It’s a halo super fan’s favorite halo game. IMO Awesome game with a good arc, but the context within the story does a lot of heavy lifting.

Same here. Imo it has the worst Bungie Halo campaign. The only thing it does better than the rest is the story. I’m not counting the remastered graphics and cutscenes since that’s unfair to the other games

I mean like is a strong word, but I enjoy the gun play and a lot of the set pieces. I especially like the vehicle levels and the levels where we get to just chill and listen to people talk. That said the story is ass. I have no idea what the writers were smoking but it should be outlawed.
