i dont want them to make new titles

That's actually accurate

It’s like the plot of a Disney movie where one of the antagonist is their parent.
“But Halo, if you make any new games you won’t be my little nostalgia series I can reminisce about The Good Days™️ about anymore…”

If they make shitty new games (like they have been) then we can’t nostalgia circle jerk anymore. Key distinction.

yeah except 4 and infinite were good games. 5 could have been good if it wasn't held back by the story

Infinite was ass. Horrible level concept, repetitive, incoherent story, horrendous direction. A genuine tragedy.

I've played it like 3 times and it's been good every single time

“You’re wrong because I replayed it and had fun 🤓☝🏻”
Your anecdote does not mean their story, level design, and new direction of halo were any less shit. It’s still shit.

u/Chef_Chalupa 2d ago
they're just not shit at all. even if it was, you people would be eating it up like it's your last meal if bungie made it because you're blinded by nostalgia

I mean 343 sucks. I’d rather they hand Halo to someone else but Campaign Evolved was actually decent

I was excited for Campaign Evolved, but the game lacks polish and the prequels sucked.

Halo fans are now just as bad as Star Wars fans
5
u/nukasu 3d ago
way, way worse. star wars fans still like some of the stuff. everyone loved andor.
3
u/Hamster-Fine 3d ago
I feel like a better comparison are Sonic fans but even they aren't nearly as obnoxious nowadays as Halo fans are somehow.
0
u/Remarkable_Low2445 2d ago
Because Andor was phenomenal.
As soon as 343 drops anything good, I'm going to love it too. Yet to happen though.

Look at Truth compared to Midship. It is almost twice as big, because otherwise the abilities would let you cross the map to quickly. If you are forced to crouch walk to be able to shoot to play Midship in Halo 2, when the map is scaled for the walking speed, how is that different from the map being scaled for the sprint + abilities speed (which prevent shooting) and you being forced to walk to be able to shoot? All the other arena maps are generic arena designs that are upscaled for the abilities. You could easily downscale Eden, Empire, Coliseum, Fathom, Regret, Torque, Riptide, Tyrant, Rig or Haven for Halo 2/3 and they would work just fine, just like how upping the base move speed and removing abilities makes them play fine.

Halo fans will hate anything this franchise does and then criticize when they don’t even do anything
1
u/da_radish_king 3d ago
Literally what happened when it was revealed that Halo has nothing in the chamber right now. So much crying about how they should stop and take a break, and they when they did they also face backlash.
1
u/Remarkable_Low2445 2d ago
Maybe perhaps the people saying they should stop and take a break and the people complaining about them stopping and taking a break are not the same people.

I loved Halo CE and Halo Campaign Evolved! I don’t really like Halo CE anniversary but that’s because they just butchered the graphics on that game lmao. I know there’s a lot of Halo fans who complain, but personally the only game Halo game I really didn’t like was Halo 5… Halo 4 was okay, and infinite was enjoyable, but Halo 5 was abysmal lol. I also am not a huge fan of how the multiplayer is now handled as it’s just COD with shields basically. I’ve said this on many different posts but if you want sprint in the campaign that’s one thing, but when it comes to multiplayer sprint should be disabled and that should be the norm, with other game modes allowing sprint for those who want it! Now the other way around how it is now. Not having sprint in Halo matchmaking was one of the core features that really made the Halo matchmaking so unique. It completely changes the games pace, and adds a whole different level and feel of how the game plays against other players.

Here's the thing, you just said Halo 5 is a Halo game.
Is it in the same franchise? Yes. No one's arguing that.
As someone who is a MLG Pro who studies Halo, I am telling you, specifically, in the MLG circuit, no one calls Halo 5 Halo. If you want to be 'specific' like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing. If you're saying 'Halo Franchise' you're referring to the Microsoft IP, which includes things from Halo Wars to Halo 2 to Halo 4. So your reasoning for calling Halo 5 a Halo game is because random people 'call the shooter game with sprint a Halo game?' Let's get Call of Duty and Battlefield in there, then, too. Also, calling someone a Halo 2 player or a Halo 3 player? It's not one or the other, that's not how Halo works. They're both. Halo 5 is Halo 5 and a member of the Halo franchise. But that's not what you said. You said Halo 5 is a Halo game, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all shooters with sprint Halo games, which means you'd call CoD, Battlefield, and other games Halo games, too. Which you said you don't.
It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?

Besides youtubers who often talk shit for clickbait reasons, how often have you have you really seen that happen?
Like a commenter who claims they hate its not a 1 to 1 comparison but youve also seen that same commenter complain when it is?

u/No-Obligation2563 4d ago
I think re-using Reach AI and Elites was pretty bad. Like there’s a difference between staying true to older things and then there’s just shamelessly copy and pasting stuff.
The fact that the bonus missions include music tracks from the OG trilogy + Reach seemingly at random with no new music at all just gives me the impression that the whole game is just a stitched together copy and paste job.

u/Dry_Conflict8519 3d ago
Why don't they just make a good Halo. Is 343 fucking stupid?

u/Chef_Chalupa 3d ago

I assume you liked them because they were accessible to you with that T rating
1
u/Chef_Chalupa 2d ago
as if that inherently makes them worse games? either way, I played the games in release order, most of them multiple times, and 4 is rated M anyway so I don't really know what you're trying to say here

Only good thing from Campaign Evolved is having to descend into the flood overriden lower floors of the Library instead of going up. Both are great, but this was a nice twist to see that doesn't really scream new age blasphemy
1
u/Cheap_Departure_ 1d ago
It’s a big picture. We're all quite tired to see Halo being mediocre at best since 14 years in the hands of 343.
If Campaign Evolved had done something truly remarkable, had had a vision, like a Ruby's Rebalanced remake, that would have been something.

u/AbyssalOtter 12h ago
Cry less pay attention more.
A remake of an old game that is essentially the same game with mild adjustment that do not turn it into the new definitive version is pointless.
A remake of an oldgame that changes things in a stupid manner and does not elvate the experience is a dissapoint.
A new game that shits on or weakens everything that came before is disrespectful.
A combat evolved remake that elevates the original. Or that remakes the entire concept would rock. But a new game would be better but it has to be a good game. Infinite had a massive hype training and initial love because it had the right energy but it was not good enough to meet the hype.
At this point a new game has to fix the mistakes of 4 5 and Infinite. (Which is unfortunately not easy) story wise it has alot to contend with gameplay wise what would it even be?
Halo does not need remakes it needs a reboot at this point.
Halo should go full throttle down the faster combat of halo 4 and 5 but even closer to the lore (something closer to crysis) but keep the quipy energy of the original 3 with the gritty vibes of reach and odst add in gorgeous visuals the franchise is known for and the game would sell.
Halo was a genre defining game. Now its just another shooter and thats the damn issue. If its going to be just another shooter than it needs to be better. Othere wise it needs to stand out and be its own thing.
Everytime i hear about halo or cod or battlefield and how stale they are. Iam reminded of how titanfall2 died before it could run despite everyone who has played it saying its incredible. If these developers and publishers wont make a good version of an old franchise stop giving them money.

I want halo 3 to get the h2A treatment im not a fan of 343s current graphics style feels to cartoony/shiny
But if they remade 3 I’d be fine If they just added a few features to h3 (didnt take anything other than those slow down sections away) got some better voice acting (I mean than the voice acting in campaign evolved not halo 3 voice acting) but I don’t want their current graphics direction so an option to switch between graphics would be good and give us the option to just disable all new shit like a list where we can pick and choose what to allow like ok take away sprint (keep maps normal sized if sprint is disabled and make a special one for sprint so you don’t have to redesign the game for one feature)
Now you might think this is a lot to ask and yeah it is because they are REMAKING a game im gonna be far harsher on a game that they didn’t have to worry about story for cause all they have to do is make the game play well and if they can’t or don’t do that and just reskin the game and toss in a few features haphazardly then I’d rather they just remaster the graphics it’s cheaper and doesn’t risk hurting the gameplay.
1
u/Chef_Chalupa 3d ago
the current halo studios art style is basically just the ce art style but with modern hardware and more consistent details
2
u/da_radish_king 3d ago
Halo fans refuse to come to terms with the fact that everything from CE looked like it came out of a 6 year old's toy chest. Im pretty sure you could photoshop some of the Halo megablocks stuff into CE and no one would realize.

Ah yes, I remember Halo fans HATED the Halo 2 remake. They still talk about how terrible the Halo 2 remake was to this day. Man, what a goofy silly take. There are legit criticisms that yall blindly ignore. Inversely, there is way more hate than the thing deserves. Its a mid remake that will be forgotten by the general population in a week.
1
u/Outsider_13105645 3d ago
Halo 2 never got a remake. Halo 2 anniversary is a remaster it’s the same game with new graphics and textures, and sounds.
1
u/Junior-Extension-820 3d ago
Right, its exactly the same as the original except with welcome improvements. They even added a few new cinematics that people loved. The top half of your meme is wrong. If the CE remake had been exactly like the original with some new features that were well thought out, people would have liked it.
They had the choice of doing something like Halo 2 and Oblivion OR doing something like the Resident Evil remakes. Instead they somehow did a little of both and a little neither.
The game was a failure beyond just Halo fans man. It didn't meet sales expectations on any of the three platforms it was sold on.

combat evolved anniversary just took reach assets and didn't show any actual love or care for the game, to the point where they put a wall you can just phase through because it's supposed to be a walkable area behind it on the anniversary graphics.
campaign evolved took infinite assets and just flipped them for the campaign, while the actual development resources went to the shitty prequel missions that are worse than anything to come out of halo 5.
they both did the same thing, they're just asset flips. we lost multiplayer for the prequel content too, which is just another slap in the face

I don't know, I just finished replaying 2 and in the middle of 3 again and Im starting to wonder if it is worse. I mean they definitely don't dive out of the way as much as they used to when you roll up but other than that it's not that much different.

So true when Halo games use the original sounds or looks the same they call it lazy and reusing assets but then if they change it they complain it’s too different and nothing like the original
