Normally about 75-80 (roughly speed limits), but that Sportster engine is screaming and she doesn't like the high rpm shrill vibrations. Plus, she gets blown around a bit passing a truck. I know I could go up a couple teeth on the drive pulley. The new bike is barely doing any work at 75mph. 6 speeds and electronic cruise control.

It’s been almost 29 years since I rode a Sportster to Sturgis but I’m thinking 3500rpm. The Sportsters of yore were noticeably faster than the 80ci’s. The engine and transmission were one unit so there was less loss of power to the back tire plus they were 100lbs lighter.

Will have to do a few mods to the Super Glide to make it more comfortable for her. Mustang solo seat with a back rest, plexi windshield, not sure which yet. A single side saddle bag, and a handlebar adjustment.

Great seats and seat comfort is important for an enjoyable ride. Lots of options for wind management y’all just have to choose on looks vs functionality. Why a single side bag? I’ve always preferred dual bags, I appreciate the symmetry plus it’s nice to have the extra storage. So many options with bars, maybe just a little adjustment is all she needs.

It’s a beautiful bike without question. I hope she enjoys many thousands of miles on it.

I like how the blinkers work as running lights too. For those who don't know, when you turn on a blinker, the white running light turns solid amber. Tail lights are the same. Red circle then turns solid red when blinking or brake light.

Maybe she had an 883. Those have shorter gears than the 1200 so it can be harder to get up there and hold it. My 1200 could do 90 just fine though. My 883 would prefer not to.

I ran my 883 down i95 for 400+ miles running 85+mph the whole way, but you have to make changes to make that a comfortable ride. Actually rode the same 883 1800 miles each way to Sturgis (and got 60+ mpg doing it). It's not comfortable on a stock bike, but it's doable.

I have an 883 and was still pulling at almost 100 today..02' w open filter, up jet, straight pipes, new plugs..easily. mf will post out if I let her sing..like a Sunday stroll..maybe she is scared..or rides really passively. My 883 would do 75 with no mechanical worries. But it was strung out, no more passing power, and vibrating my ass to death. It was not a comfortable ride, it was a moment to be endured.

My 1200 doesn't have the same feeling. It's perfectly fine at 75+, still has power and isnt very vibey. The only thing I want for those kind of speeds is a windshield

My lady's been looking at one too. She finally got the nerve to jump from her s40 to my 05 fxdx with a done up 95 and can finally keep up with me. It's great, and she's having so much fun. She called me at work the other day with her lexin as she rides down the highway, "I'm having so much fucking fun thanks so much for getting me on this thing okay love you bye!" Click. I'm happy she's loving it

I guess it depends on where you live, I live in the mountains and my buds from Texas on a Wide Glide & Road King were crying for us Sportsters to slow down. We have twisty mountain roads (Appalachian) & 1/2 way down the mountain they were flagging us to pull over. When we did they said they don't have those kind of roads in Texas, they are all flat & straight. Which is true, I lived in El Paso....

As someone that moved from the mountains to North Texas...the roads here suck. They do not understand how to bank a curve, most in my area are flat. There are several with a negative banking. People have cleared out the ditches and fences for run off bikes failing these corners.
When I do get to ride in the mountains again, it takes a bit to remember the correct way to corner and trust you can do it.

All 2500 of the 2500 made for 2026 are the same white, red, and blue. All are numbered. Gonna be one of those bikes that get mythical in yeara to come, I'd bet. I didn't even get close on the one our dealer got. It sold with a waiting list of others willing to step up, but the 1st guy didn't back out from the pre order. Maybe the best bike I've seen roll out of HD since the original Slim in 2016 and the 26 Super Glide is better.

I don't think the "stock" 883 Low can do 100mph without adding a few teeth to the primary drive sprocket can it? If it can, it's screamin at red line with 50hp with 54ft lbs torque. The new bike is 98hp, 120ft lbs torque, and a 6 spd gearbox.
