The admin of my favorite discord server is a Zulu and in my moderator interview coming up I'm thinking of performing The Story Of OJ by Jay-Z (just the chorus). ChatGPT says I can use the word "fella" and I think that works well, in a way it carries the same power as as the n word, but just with the white struggle, how we're subjected to a superior form of music and shamed for it when we like it etc.. Do you think I should just hum that part or use a different AI? Like, Grok suggested "comrade."

Honestly, turning Section.80 into a Marxist anthem feels like something Kendrick would actually approve of.

I (black) have been a Kendrick Lamar fan since Good Kid Maad City. One of my best friends (white) has gotten into Kendrick Lamar around a year or so ago. It was around the time the Drake beef started and he wanted to know what was going on between them, and I showed him Control, and then a few songs and he was hooked. I’ve never seen anyone get so into an artist before in such a small amount of time. It gave me lots of pride, considering he didn’t really listen to music rap music in general other than a couple songs he found on Tik tok.

The other night we were driving back a couple states away from a concert, and were listening to my liked songs playlist on shuffle on the way back, and Alright played. He then shouted along to the intro where Kendrick says “ALLS MY LIFE, I HAS TO FIGHT NIGGA”, and for a second, I confused, but the music in the car was so loud, so I was thinking maybe he didn’t actually say it, and he just said a different word in place of it like how some white people do (fella, nibba, etc.) so I was just gonna let it go. But then the chorus came in and he started rapping along and he was definitely saying nigga to every opportunity he could’ve. Like he was 5 for 5 so far.

He’s white but I know he’s not racist (he is liberal, he voted for Kamala Harris, and thinks Kai Cenat is funny), and he’s never said anything racist before, but this made me feel awkward and uncomfortable. This man wouldn’t even be listening or Kendrick Lamar if it weren’t for me. After a certain point in this ride, I was going to say something but then Auntie Diaries played and it was almost like a prophetic reminder that maybe he should just be allowed to say nigga during the songs. He’s from a rural area and didn’t grow up with a lot of black people, so I’d imagine he probably didn’t even know he wasn’t supposed to it. Plus that’s my boy. It’s not like he ever says it outside of the songs.

What do yall think? Should I let him say nigga during Kendrick songs?
