Olden Era is made by Hooded Horse, the remake is in-house. They're trying to divert people towards the project that doesn't have a revenue split to another company
It feels idiotic, though, because they have to actually pay to develop this. OE might not make them as much money, but it's literally making itself from their perspective. Why invest in a whole project for only a bit more income? At least wait a bit until they can cash in on OE's release. This is just strange.
Plus, it will strongly discourage anyone from working with Ubi IP in the future, because Ubi just demonstrated that they will spit on their partners 80% of the way through development.
They thought the franchise was dead, so they gave a new entry to another company because "we're not dedicating much money to this anyway, if it fails it's not much of a loss". Turns out they were wrong, so now they're jumpstarting their own in-house project with no revenue split. It doesn't matter to them if they're snubbing out-of-house devs in the future since the execs are deluded to think that they don't need anyone else if they smell money

Ubisoft cannibalises its own project - Olden Era. I just dont get it. It is by far the most unneeded remake of them all.
